Listen to this live interview with William Pepper, human rights attorney extraordinaire; proponent and prospective Commissioner, New York City NYCCAN.org ballot initiative; author, Act of State: The Execution of Martin Luther King, Jr. . In November 1999, William Pepper won a jury trial finding that James Earl Ray was innocent, and that U.S. military and intelligence officials conspired to murder Martin Luther King, Jr. He is currently working with the NYC CAN Ballot Initiative to get a real investigation of 9/11 with subpoena power on the November ballot. Last month, William Pepper spent ten 16-hour days preparing a legal defense of the Spanish Court’s initiative to prosecute George W. Bush for war crimes. He writes: “I believe that this case may be the most important case in my lifetime for the advancement of international human rights law and condemnation of these atrocious policies and practices which go back to the divine right of kings, perpetuated by fascism.”

Canadian-born James Douglass of Birmingham, Alabama is a Christian pacifist
, a 9/11Truther and author of JFK and the Unspeakable: Why He Died and Why
It Matters (Orbis Books).
The book rose to number 31 on Amazon’s best seller list two weeks after
Oliver Stone appeared on “Real Time with Bill Maher” on June 26th
last holding a copy of the 2008 book, which was shown on camera. Stone said
it is a “great book.”
The question “why” that Douglass’s book addresses in the
case of JFK’s assassination arguably is also the most important question
concerning 9/11. Douglass recently has been added under “Religious Leaders
for 9/11 Truth” on http://PatriotsQuestion911.com
Douglass’s book deserves wide readership. It’s a tremendously well-researched
work, one of the best of the 400+ books on JFK’s assassination. Douglass
conducted original interviews with people now able and willing to talk after
decades of silence. He also drew on thousands of recently released US government
documents to reveal the logic of the plot to kill Kennedy. The plot’s
purpose was not only to assassinate a president who was turning toward peace
but also to implicate the Soviet Union and Cuba in his murder so as to justify
pre-emptive attacks upon them. The parallels with 9/11 are highly educative.
Douglass’s editor, Robert Ellsberg, feels the Stone endorsation is a
peg upon which to “re-promote” the book. I agree and commend it
thoroughly to all frequenters of 911blogger.com. For the Stone interview, go… Continue reading

Last weekend, from October 9 to 11, Debora Blake and Annie Machon organized “Vers La Vérité” in Paris, France. The event was sponsored in part by ReOpen911 France. “Vers La Vérité” was a mix of public and private events where each sub-event was designed to facilitate communication between people who share common concerns on important issues, including 9/11. It was not a 100% 9/11 Truth conference. The goal was to position 9/11 in the broader context of related and equally disturbing issues such as illegal wars and reduction of civil liberties.
They kicked off the event with a press conference on Friday morning attended by a journalist from a mainstream newspaper, France Soir and the independent TéléLibre. The mayor of Paris’s second district introduced Cynthia who made a brief statement and took some questions. Annie Machon also spoke briefly.
On Friday night, in one of Paris’s notorious all-night hang-outs, the Café Etincelle, activists from around the globe met up and began sharing ideas. This was also an opportunity to reach out to the general public and allow them the chance to talk with “the specialists”.
As the activists were having a drink together, just across the Seine river, at the restaurant Le Procope, Cynthia McKinney was having dinner in the company of the activist-sponsors who made generous donations in order to have a seat at the table (and defray the costs of organizing Vers La Vérité).…Continue reading

In an extended interview, award-winning journalist and activist Allan Nairn looks back over the Obama administration’s foreign policy and national security decisions over the last twelve months. “I think Obama should be remembered as a great man because of the blow he struck against white racism,” Nairn says. “But once he became president…Obama became a murderer and a terrorist, because the US has a machine that spans the globe, that has the capacity to kill, and Obama has kept it set on kill. He could have flipped the switch and turned it off…but he chose not to do so.” He continues, “In fact, as far as one can tell, Obama seems to have killed more civilians during his first year than Bush did in his first year, and maybe even than Bush killed in his final year.”

ANJALI KAMAT: On Tuesday, President Obama made another statement on the failure of intelligence agencies to intercept the Christmas Day plot to blow up a Northwest Airlines flight. He said the US government had the necessary information to stop the twenty-three-year-old Nigerian suspect from boarding the Detroit-bound flight, but he excoriated the intelligence community for failing to connect the dots in time.
PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: I will accept that intelligence, by its nature, is imperfect. But it is increasingly clear that intelligence was not fully analyzed… Continue reading

New research in the journal American Behavioral Scientist (Sage publications, February 2010) addresses the concept of “State Crimes Against Democracy” (SCAD). Professor Lance deHaven-Smith from Florida State University writes that SCADs involve highlevel government officials, often in combination with private interests, that engage in covert activities for political advantages and power. Proven SCADs since World War II include McCarthyism (fabrication of evidence of a communist infiltration), Gulf of Tonkin Resolution (President Johnson and Robert McNamara falsely claimed North Vietnam attacked a US ship), burglary of the office of Daniel Ellsberg’s psychiatrist in effort to discredit Ellsberg, the Watergate break-in, Iran-Contra, Florida’s 2000 Election (felon disenfranchisement program), and fixed intelligence on WMDs to justify the Iraq War. 1
Other suspected SCADs include the assassination of Lee Harvey Oswald, the shooting of George Wallace, the October Surprise near the end of the Carter presidency, military grade anthrax mailed to Senators Tom Daschle and Patrick Leahy, Martin Luther King’s assassination, and the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7 on September 11, 2001. The proven SCADs have a long trail of congressional hearings, public records, and academic research establishing the truth of the activities. The suspected SCADs listed above have substantial evidence of covert actions with countervailing deniability that tend to leave the facts in dispute. 2
The term “conspiracy theory” is often used to denigrate and discredit inquiry into the veracity of suspected SCADs. Labeling SCAD research as “conspiracy theory” is an effective method of… Continue reading
For coverage of Israel’s massacre in international waters of between 10 and 20 civilians who were traveling with a group from 50 countries, which occurred last night as the civilians were sleeping aboard six ships carrying tons of humanitarian relief to Gaza, please see WitnessGaza.com, the Free Gaza Movement and Gaza
Freedom March. Video of beginning moments of the attack can be seen at these sites and others. It is important to go beyond corporate news’ reporting of this atrocity to understand why nations around the world are taking immediate action and issuing fiery statements of reproach. As of now, the extent of the U.S. response has
been: “”deeply regrets the loss of life and injuries sustained and is currently
working to understand the circumstances surrounding this tragedy.” A list of responses with links is available at Gaza Freedom March’s Emergency Response Plan.
The Elders group of past and present world leaders, including former South African president Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, on Monday condemned as “completely inexcusable” the deadly Israeli attack on a flotilla carrying aid for Gaza.
At least 10 people are reported to have been killed when Israeli commandos raided the boats on Monday in an operation that has drawn international condemnation.
“The Elders have condemned the reported killing by Israeli forces of more than a dozen people who were attempting to deliver relief… Continue reading

The Post-9/11 World Is A Detriment To Humanity
* We are fighting illegal preemptive wars against three countries. Afghanistan,
Iraq, and Pakistan. The resulting wars have caused well over 1,000,000 casualties.
Preemptive war is illegal according to the Nuremberg Charter, and the United
Nations charter. These wars are destabilizing the entire Middle East, and causing
anti-American sentiment throughout the world.
* In America, the Constitution is being forgotten with the passage of bills
like the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, and the John Warner National
Defense Authorization Act. Americans are forced to wonder if their conversations
are being monitored through the use of illegal wiretapping. The freedom of the
press, and the right to peacefully assemble is being discarded.
* Hatred towards Muslims and Jews is being fueled.
* Executive Power within the United States is being expanded to the point of
near-dictatorship, and accountability for the actions of the Executive, and
other members of Government is non-existent.
* A constant state of fear is the norm.
* Billions upon billions are being spent on the previously mentioned wars,
and things that are needed for the people are being forgotten about.
* Soldiers are dying, are being subjected to multiple tours of duty, are being
exposed to depleted uranium and chemical weapons, are suffering from post traumatic
stress disorder, are committing suicide at an astounding rate, are being fed
propaganda in order to murder innocents, and are having… Continue reading

MARTIN LUTHER KING OPPOSED WAR AND SPOKE OUT AGAINST IT
Dr. King’s words are as relevant today as they were almost 44 years ago; they could have been spoken yesterday.
Quotes from Martin Luther King’s sermon at the Ebenezer Baptist Church on April 30, 1967 opposing the Vietnam War and calling for “a revolution of values”:
“The time has come for America to hear the truth about this tragic war.”
“There comes a time when silence is betrayal.”
“…there are those who are seeking to equate dissent with disloyalty. It’s a dark day in our nation when high-level authorities will seek to use every method to silence dissent. Something is happening and people are not going to be silenced. The truth must be told.”
“… the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today, my own government.”
“There will be no meaningful solution until some attempt is made to know these people [the Vietnamese], and hear their broken cries.”
“A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.”
“Come home, America. I call on Washington today. I call on every man and woman of good will all over America today.”

Journal of 9/11 Studies
For the 11th anniversary of September 11, the Journal of 9/11 Studies would like to share a series of letters from thoughtful people who have reflected on the tragic events of that day. Five letters were published today, from the following individuals.
Lorie Van Auken is a founding member of the 9/11 Family Steering Committee. Without her dedication there would never have been a 9/11 Commission investigation.
Gregg Fishman is Secretary of the World Trade Center Rescuers Foundation. Like others he represents, Gregg risked his life and health in an attempt to rescue and recover victims following the destruction of the World Trade Center buildings.
Father Frank Morales is an Episcopal priest, activist, and author from New York City. He was present at Ground Zero shortly after the 9/11 events, offering prayers for the victims and support for the first responders.
David Johnson is Professor Emeritus of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Johnson served as a panelist at the Toronto Hearings on the tenth anniversary of 9/11.
Dr. Paul Craig Roberts was Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy and associate editor of the Wall Street Journal. He has investigated the events of September 11, 2001 and his writings on that and other subjects have attracted a worldwide following.
A similar number of letters from other contributors will be published later this week. We hope that the words and… Continue reading
