The 9/11 truth movement is growing stronger in Belgium and Europe

BRUSSELS – JUNE 25TH, 2008 – For the first time in Europe
some Non-Governmental Organizations and officials are endorsing the United for
Truth platform and will support the second edition of this European peaceful
protest held on September 7th, 2008 at the Schuman Place in Brussels. The platform
is:

In solidarity with the American citizens, we demand an independent investigation
of the 9/11 attacks, which were the pretext for too many wars, lies, and a
serious decrease of (y)our civil rights (“anti-terrorist”-acts,
secret prisons, “Patriot act”, etc). We want European troops back
home! We want European laws that guarantee neutrality of the internet and
that explicitly forbid tracing/chipping (RFID) of human beings as well as
other electronic threats on our freedom. We want democratic and public control
of financial organizations (IMF, WB, etc) and the mass media. But most of
all we want you to get your life back.

The protest will be joined by various citizens from all over Europe. Unlike
last year this protest is now being endorsed by various Non-Governmental Organizations.
The Committee for the Abolition of Third World Debt (CATMD) and ATTAC Brussels,
among other yet to be confirmed organizations, fully support the platform of
United for Truth.

United for Truth made its first public appearance in September 2007, with the
first European protest in Brussels calling to support a majority of the American
people, who want a re-investigation of the 9/11 attacks. This protest is coordinated
by two Belgian artists: Dutch speaking Julez Edward (25)… Continue reading

The Real-Life

July 13, 2008
Op-Ed Columnist
By FRANK RICH

We know what a criminal White House looks like from “The Final Days”
Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein’s classic account of Richard Nixon’s
unraveling. The cauldron of lies, paranoia and illegal surveillance boiled over,
until it was finally every man for himself as desperate courtiers scrambled
to save their reputations and, in a few patriotic instances, their country.

“The Final Days” was published in 1976, two years after Nixon abdicated in disgrace. With the Bush presidency, no journalist (or turncoat White House memoirist) is waiting for the corpse to be carted away. The latest and perhaps most chilling example arrives this week from Jane Mayer of The New Yorker, long a relentless journalist on the war-on-terror torture beat. Her book “The Dark Side” connects the dots of her own past reporting and that of her top-tier colleagues (including James Risen and Scott Shane of The New York Times) to portray a White House that, like its prototype, savaged its enemies within almost as ferociously as it did the Constitution.

Some of “The Dark Side” seems right out of “The Final Days” minus Nixon’s operatic boozing and weeping. We learn, for instance, that in 2004 two conservative Republican Justice Department officials had become “so paranoid” that “they actually thought they might be in physical danger.” The fear of being wiretapped by their own peers drove them to speak in code.

The men were John Ashcroft’s deputy attorney general, James Comey, and an assistant… Continue reading

Police State USA: Spying as Law of the Land

FISA "Compromise" Completes Transformation of US into Full Police
State

by Larry Chin

Global Research, July 11, 2008

On July 9, 2008, the US Congress overwhelmingly passed legislation permitting
government spying, including immunity to telecommunications companies involved
in secret domestic surveillance programs. With the stroke of George W. Bush’s
pen, the US is now a police state by definition.

The extent of the spying program, and its larger implications, have been revealed
by Mark Klein, who blew the whistle on secret domestic spying program of Bush/Cheney’s
National Security Agency (NSA) and AT&T:

AT&T whistleblower: spy bill creates infrastructure for police state

The update of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, called the "FISA
compromise", or more appropriately, the "spy bill", largely completes
the triumph of the Bush/Cheney administration and a bipartisan criminal consensus.
By convenient design, the FISA revision derails pending law suits filed against
the Bush administration’s corporate spying partners (AT&T, Sprint
Nextel, and Verizon), silences (the largely empty-to-begin-with) congressional
investigations into Bush administration’s illegal domestic spying program.
Presidential nominee Barack Obama and the Democrats have now moved to silence
all discussion
about the issue.

Fear itself, a.k.a. spying itself

Between the false flag mass murder of 9/11 and the creation of the "war
on terrorism", the USA Patriot Act and this new FISA revision, the Bush-Cheney
administration and its enthusiastically complicit congressional partners, have
achieved total victory–world war, open criminality, and the end of law itself.

It gives the US government unprecedented new spying powers and sweeping new
legal… Continue reading

The Bush Administration steps up its secret moves against Iran.
by Seymour M. Hersh
July 7, 2008

Late last year, Congress agreed to a request from President Bush to fund a major escalation of covert operations against Iran, according to current and former military, intelligence, and congressional sources. These operations, for which the President sought up to four hundred million dollars, were described in a Presidential Finding signed by Bush, and are designed to destabilize the country’s religious leadership. The covert activities involve support of the minority Ahwazi Arab and Baluchi groups and other dissident organizations. They also include gathering intelligence about Iran’s suspected nuclear-weapons program.

Clandestine operations against Iran are not new. United States Special Operations Forces have been conducting cross-border operations from southern Iraq, with Presidential authorization, since last year. These have included seizing members of Al Quds, the commando arm of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, and taking them to Iraq for interrogation, and the pursuit of “high-value targets” in the President’s war on terror, who may be captured or killed. But the scale and the scope of the operations in Iran, which involve the Central Intelligence Agency and the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), have now been significantly expanded, according to the current and former officials. Many of these activities are not specified in the new Finding, and some congressional leaders have had serious questions about their nature.

Under federal law, a Presidential Finding, which is highly classified, must be issued when a covert intelligence operation gets… Continue reading

Kristol: Bush Might Bomb Iran If He ‘Thinks Senator Obama’s Going To Win’

On Fox News Sunday this morning, Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol said that
President Bush is more likely to attack Iran if he believes Sen. Barack Obama
(D-IL) is going to be elected.

However, “if the president thought John McCain was going to be the next
president, he would think it more appropriate to let the next president make
that decision than do it on his way out,” Kristol said, reinforcing the
fact that McCain is offering a third Bush term on Iran.

“I do wonder with Senator Obama, if President Bush thinks Senator Obama’s
going to win, does he somehow think — does he worry that Obama won’t
follow through on that policy,” Kristol added. Host Chris Wallace then
asked if Kristol was suggesting that Bush might “launch a military strike”
before or after the election:

WALLACE: So, you’re suggesting that he might in fact, if Obama’s
going to win the election, either before or after the election, launch a military
strike?

KRISTOL: I don’t know. I mean, I think he would worry about
it.
On the other hand, you can’t — it’s hard to
make foreign policy based on guesses of election results. I think Israel is
worried though. I mean, what is, what signal goes to Ahmadinejad if Obama
wins on a platform of unconditional negotiations and with an obvious reluctance
to even talk about using military force.

Kristol also suggested that Obama’s election would tempt Saudi Arabia and Egypt to think, ‘maybe we can use nuclear… Continue reading

Bomb Iran? What’s to Stop Us?

By Ray McGovern
June 19, 2008

It’s crazy, but it’s coming soon — from the same folks who brought us Iraq.

Unlike the attack on Iraq five years ago, to deal with Iran there need be no massing of troops. And, with the propaganda buildup already well under way, there need be little, if any, forewarning before shock and awe and pox — in the form of air and missile attacks — begin.

This time it will be largely the Air Force’s show, punctuated by missile and
air strikes by the Navy. Israeli-American agreement has now been reached at
the highest level; the armed forces planners, plotters and pilots are working
out the details.

Emerging from a 90-minute White House meeting with President George W. Bush on June 4, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said the two leaders were of one mind:

“We reached agreement on the need to take care of the Iranian threat. I left with a lot less question marks [than] I had entered with regarding the means, the timetable restrictions, and American resoluteness to deal with the problem. George Bush understands the severity of the Iranian threat and the need to vanquish it, and intends to act on that matter before the end of his term in the White House.”

Does that sound like a man concerned that Bush is just bluff and bluster?

A member of Olmert’s delegation noted that same day that the two countries
had agreed to cooperate in case of an attack… Continue reading

Senator Mike Gravel Speaks about NYC 9/11 Initiative on Democracy Now

Democray Now

Watch the video here; written transcript follows:

AMY GOODMAN: Former Alaska senator and 2008 presidential candidate Mike Gravel is holding a news conference in New York City today to call for a new independent investigation into 9/11. Gravel will be speaking on behalf of the NYC 9/11 Ballot Initiative Campaign, a grassroots group seeking to place an initiative on the ballot of the November 6th general election allowing registered New York City voters to create a new commission to investigate 9/11.

The group is looking to appoint between nine and fifteen commissioners on the panel to conduct the investigation. Some of the people who have reportedly already agreed to serve as commissioners include Lori Van Auken, a 9/11 widow, one of the so-called “Jersey Girls”; Lincoln Chafee, the former Republican senator from Rhode Island; Bishop Thomas Gumbleton, a pastor in Detroit, Michigan; as well as former Democratic Senator Mike Gravel, who joins us here today.

He has published three books this year: Citizen Power: A Mandate for Change, The Kingmakers: How the Media Threatens Our Security and Our Democracy and A Political Odyssey. His book Citizen Power: A Mandate for Change has a forward by Ralph Nader. He’ll be joining us on the show later in the week.

Welcome to Democracy Now!, Senator Gravel.

MIKE GRAVEL: Amy, thank you for having me. But before we launch into the mission of my appearance, I want to comment on this young man you just had on. I’ve got… Continue reading

Petition to Investigate 9/11 Read in Canadian Parliament

On June 10th 2008, Libby Davies, an NDP MP from East Vancouver read our petition
(for 9/11 investigation) in Canadian Parliament. Now the petition will be sent
to the appropriate minister and they have 45 days to respond.

By DREW NOFTLE
June 13, 2008

Vancouver BC – Rob Duffy, Assistant to Canadian MP Libby Davies, has informed
the Vancouver 9/11 Truth Society that the petition read in Canadian Parliament
last Tuesday regarding the demand for a Canadian Investigation into 9/11 will
be handled by none other than Canadian Minister of Public Safety, Stockwell
Day. [1]

Although such a document should likely be placed on the desk of the Minister
of Foreign Affairs, perhaps some insight was used when the decision was made
to forward this homework assignment to Mr. Day instead.

When we look at the credentials of Mr. Day we can see why this decision was
made. Indeed, we see that no other Minister should have such a grand understanding
of 9/11 than him. Mr. Day understands intelligence. He is a former CSIS agent
himself. CSIS showed Canada it’s impressive counter terrorist abilities by uncovering
the Air India Bombing plot in 1985 well before it happened. Unfortunately, they
failed to pass this information on to the RCMP (he has worked there too) before
it was too late.[2]

Mr. Day is also a former evangelical pastor. Therefore, he knows the need for
us to all prepare now for the rapture and how a war with Iran will expedite
its arrival.… Continue reading

The Spy Who Loves Us

The Spy Who Loves Us

Pay no mind to the Mossad agent on the line.

by Philip Giraldi
June 2, 2008 Issue, The American Conservative

After Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard was sentenced to life in prison in 1986, the U.S. negotiated an understanding with Israel—a “gentlemen’s agreement” —stipulating that neither nation would thenceforth conduct espionage operations in the other’s territory without consent. But the agreement was a sham from the beginning. The Israeli government didn’t even honor its commitments in the aftermath of the Pollard case, failing to return the estimated 360 cubic feet of stolen information to enable the U.S. to conduct a damage assessment. The United States, for its part, continued to recruit and run agents inside Israel throughout the 1980s and 1990s. And it was known within the intelligence and counterintelligence communities that Israel did the same in the United States. David Szady, the FBI’s assistant director for counterintelligence, was so dismayed by the level of Israeli spying in the late ’90s that he called in the head of the Israeli Embassy’s Central Institute for Intelligence and Special Activities (Mossad) office and told him, “Knock it off.”

Pollard’s name was in the news again on April 22, when former U.S. Army weapons engineer Ben-Ami Kadish was arrested for passing secrets to Israel. Kadish had been an agent run by Yosef Yagur, who directed Pollard. Yagur, under cover as a science attaché at the Israeli Consulate General in New York, fled the U.S. in 1985 after Pollard was… Continue reading

Legislating Tyranny

by Paul Craig Roberts and Lawrence M. Stratton
Posted at Lewrockwell.com
June 7, 2008

The George W. Bush administration responded to the 9/11 attack on the World
Trade Center and Pentagon with an assault on U.S. civil liberty that Bush justified
in the name of the “war on terror.” The government assured us that
the draconian measures apply only to “terrorists.” The word terrorist,
however, was not defined. The government claimed the discretionary power to
decide who is a terrorist without having to present evidence or charges in a
court of law.

Frankly, the Bush administration’s policy evades any notion of procedural
due process of law. Administration assurances that harsh treatment is reserved
only for terrorists is meaningless when the threshold process for determining
who is and who is not a terrorist depends on executive discretion that is not
subject to review. Substantive rights are useless without the procedural rights
to enforce them.

Terrorist legislation and executive assertions created a basis upon which federal
authorities claimed they were free to suspend suspects’ civil liberties
in order to defend Americans from terrorism. Only after civil liberties groups
and federal courts challenged some of the unconstitutional laws and procedures
did realization spread that the Bush administration’s assault on the Bill
of Rights is a greater threat to Americans than are terrorists.

The alacrity with which Congress accepted the initial assault from the administration
is frightening. In 2001, the USA PATRIOT Act passed by a vote of 98 to 1 in
the… Continue reading

We cannot allow this to happen…

For those who do not yet understand that Bush and Cheney have committed impeachable
offenses with regard to 9/11, I will provide information to back up the relevant
sections of Dennis Kucinich’s articles of impeachment against President Bush which deal with 9/11:

Article 2: Falsely, Systematically, and with Criminal Intent
Conflating the Attacks of September 11, 2001, With Misrepresentation of Iraq as
a Security Threat as Part of Fraudulent Justification for a War of Aggression:

Article 33: Repeatedly ignored and failed to respond to high
level intelligence warnings of planned terrorist attacks in U.S. prior to 9/11:

Article 34: Obstruction into the investigation of 9/11:

Article 35: Endangering the health of 9/11 first responders:

  • The results from this
    search
provide evidence for this article of impeachment.

Of course, Cheney is even more vulnerable to impeachment for 9/11 than Bush, as he was in charge of national defenses and war games on 9/11,
watched Flight 77 from many miles out as it approached the Pentagon and let it hit, and is otherwise implicated in the deaths which occurred on
that horrible day.

History Commons Projects, Update on June 4, 2008

The History Commons has started two new timelines this week, both of which
cover overlaps between the site’s main projects. One of them deals with
the military analysts story. It has been garnering more attention since the
recent New York Times expose, but articles about it have dripped out over the
years and there is a wealth of material, which was previously split between
the Iran, Iraq Invasion, Iraq Occupation, and Detainee Abuse Timelines.

The second new timeline is called Neoconservative Think Tank Influence on
US Policies, and groups together entries that were previously split up between
the various Iran, Iraq, Detainee Abuse, and 9/11 projects.

Otherwise, the main additions to the History Commons this week were in the
9/11 Timeline and dealt with the 2002 Bali bombings, including some pretty specific
warnings, and al-Qaeda in Southeast Asia. In addition, there is more about the
time spent by two 9/11 hijackers in Thailand and the CIA’s seeming inability
to find them there, as well as extra material about British intelligence asset
and al-Qaeda recruiter Abu Hamza al-Masri.

The Invasion of Iraq Timeline has cross-posted entries from the military analysts
timeline that relate to Iraq. One thing about the press coverage that is interesting
is that while the major networks and the Washington Post got it wrong, and the
New York Times boasted the supreme talents of Judy Miller, Knight Ridder (now
McClatchy) actually got the story right, proving that it could be done.

Iceland tops list of peaceful nations, U.S. 97th

Iceland tops list of peaceful nations, U.S. 97th
Tue May 20, 2008 5:08pm EDT

By Sue Pleming

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Iceland is the world’s most peaceful nation while the United States is ranked among the bottom third, according to a study released on Tuesday.

The “Global Peace Index,” compiled by the Economist Intelligence Unit, ranked the United States 97th out of 140 countries according to how peaceful they were domestically and how they interacted with the outside world.

The United States slipped from 96th last year, but was still ahead of foe Iran which ranked 105th. It, however, lagged Belarus, Cuba, South Korea, Chile, Libya and others which were listed as more peaceful.

Iraq, which the United States invaded in 2003, leading to the toppling of Saddam Hussein, ranked lowest on the index. Afghanistan, another country invaded by the United States this decade, was also in the bottom five, along with Sudan, Somalia and Israel.

Commenting on the U.S. ranking, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said to realize a more peaceful and prosperous world, “Often times, you have to do difficult things and a lot of times, people don’t agree with them. They don’t like them.”

“A lot of times you fall down in these lists but at the end of the day it is in defense of democracy and the way of life we have enjoyed over the past several decades,” he added.

The United States has come under strong international criticism for the invasion of Iraq and… Continue reading

Down the Osama Rabbit Hole and Into the War on Terror Wonderland

By Kristina Borjesson
5/18/2008

Here we go again. President Bush goes to Israel. He talks to the Israeli Knesset
about standing "together against terror and extremism." He cites the
example of Osama bin Laden teaching that "the killing of Jews and Americans
is one of the biggest duties." The next day, yet another unauthenticated
bin Laden tape surfaces. "In a tape marking Israel’s 60th anniversary,"
reported the BBC, "the speaker pledged to continue fighting the Israelis
and not give up a ‘single inch of Palestine.’" Once again,
the lead was followed by what has now become the standard second line, "The
tape’s authenticity could not be verified." Once again, the timing
is interesting. Bin Laden’s message was just in time to help President
Bush make his point.

The BBC’s May 16, 2008 report continues with this: "The last messages
attributed to Bin Laden were aired in March." Those messages couldn’t
be verified either.

The last clear videotape of bin Laden was released to al Jazeera on December
27, 2001. The CIA released one two weeks earlier that they claimed had been
shot the month before, but the video is very fuzzy and the purported bin Laden
in the tape doesn’t altogether look like the bin Laden in authentic photos and
videos. A couple of other videos were released in 2004 and 2007, both of which
were fuzzy enough to raise questions. The 2007 video looked exactly like the
2004 video, except that the purported bin Laden’s beard was black in… Continue reading

High-Level Officials Warn of Fake Terror & If We Don’t Learn Our History, We’re Doomed to Repeat It

GeorgeWashington.blogspot.com
April 30, 2008

A variety of current and former high-level officials have recently warned that the Bush administration is attempting to instill a dictatorship in America, and will itself carry out a fake terrorist attack in order to obtain one.

Background

FBI agents, Time Magazine, Keith Olbermann and The Washington Post and Rolling Stone have all stated that the administration has issued terror alerts based on scant intelligence in order to rally people around the flag when the administration was suffering in the polls. This implies — as an initial matter only — that the administration will play fast and loose with the facts in order to instill fear for political purposes

More to the point, a former prominent republican congressman stated that the U.S. is close to becoming a totalitarian society and that the Bush administration is using fear to try to ensure that this happens.

General Tommy Franks stated that if another terrorist attack occurs in the United States “the Constitution will likely be discarded in favor of a military form of government”.

Current U.S. Congressman Ron Paul stated, the government “is determined to have martial law”, and that the government is hoping to get the people “fearful enough that they will accept the man on the white horse”

And Daniel Ellsberg, the famous Pentagon Papers whistleblower, said “if there is another terror attack, “I believe the president will get what he wants”, which will include a dictatorship.

Terror on U.S. Citizens by American… Continue reading

FEMA To Help Run 8-Day Disaster & Terror Drill

We’ve thought long and hard about whether to post information about this drill, which we learned of a couple weeks ago. On the one hand, we don’t want to be Chicken Littles (and there are many out there sounding the ‘world is ending’ alarm weekly). On the other hand, we do want to relay information to our readers that is informative, educational, and useful. So we’re posting this article re. a drill currently underway, as another opportunity for us to participate in our own lives, thus promoting restoration of our Republic. The way I see it is this: Of course the government drills to test its preparation to various scenarios–they do it all the time, and the exercises don’t ‘go live’. However, those familiar with the facts of 9/11 know that multiple war games were being run that day, some of which involved responding to the very (never before imagined) scenarios that did unfold that day. It’s wise for us to be informed in order to respond to information like this. We encourage you to pick up the phone and make a few calls, particularly if you’re in Washington, Oregon, or the “National Capitol Region,” as recommended in the email posted at the end of this article. Please let us know what you hear (info [at] 911truth [dot] org). We’ll compile and post responses here. Rep. Defazio of Oregon, a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, has not been allowed to view documents pertaining to the Continuity of Government plan under which we live, as you’ve read in past articles.…

For decades the federal government has been developing a highly classified plan that would override the Constitution in the event of a terrorist attack. Is it also compiling a secret enemies list of citizens who could face detention under martial law?

Please follow-up with your Representatives and other elected officials immediately, and let us know what you her. Thank you.

In the spring of 2007, a retired senior official in the U.S. Justice Department sat before Congress and told a story so odd and ominous, it could have sprung from the pages of a pulp political thriller. It was about a principled bureaucrat struggling to protect his country from a highly classified program with sinister implications. Rife with high drama, it included a car chase through the streets of Washington, D.C., and a tense meeting at the White House, where the president’s henchmen made the bureaucrat so nervous that he demanded a neutral witness be present.

The bureaucrat was James Comey, John Ashcroft’s second-in-command at the Department of Justice during Bush’s first term. Comey had been a loyal political foot soldier of the Republican Party for many years. Yet in his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, he described how he had grown increasingly uneasy reviewing the Bush administration’s various… Continue reading

Netanyahu Says 9/11 Good for Israel – Ahmadinejad Calls 9/11

Report: Netanyahu says 9/11 terror attacks good for Israel
By Haaretz Service and Reuters
16/04/2008

The Israeli newspaper Ma’ariv on Wednesday reported that Likud leader Benjamin
Netanyahu told an audience at Bar Ilan university that the September 11, 2001
terror attacks had been beneficial for Israel.

“We are benefiting from one thing, and that is the attack on the Twin
Towers and Pentagon, and the American struggle in Iraq,” Ma’ariv quoted
the former prime minister as saying. He reportedly added that these events “swung
American public opinion in our favor.”

Netanyahu reportedly made the comments during a conference at Bar-Ilan University
on the division of Jerusalem as part of a peace deal with the Palestinians.

Meanwhile, Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad cast doubt over the veracity
of the September 11 attacks Thursday, calling it a pretext to invade Afghanistan
and Iraq.

“Four or five years ago, a suspicious event occurred in New York. A building
collapsed and they said that 3,000 people had been killed but never published
their names,” Ahmadinejad told Iranians in the holy city of Qom.

“Under this pretext, they [the U.S.] attacked Afghanistan and Iraq and
since then, a million people have been killed only in Iraq.”

Speaking Wednesday at a news conference on the Iran threat, Netanyahu compared
Ahmadinejad to Adolf Hitler and likened Tehran’s nuclear program to the threat
the Nazis posed to Europe in the late 1930s.

Netanyahu said Iran differed from the Nazis in one vital respect, explaining
that “where that [Nazi] regime embarked on a global conflict before it
developed nuclear weapons,” he said.…
