Speakers, Activists to Rally at White House on 9/11 Anniversary

Truth - Peace - Impeachment: 9/11/07

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Speakers, Activists to Rally at White
House on 9/11 Anniversary

This year, on the sixth anniversary
of 9/11, a leading group of authors and activists from the impeachment, antiwar,
and 9/11 truth movements will lead a mass rally in front of the White House.
They will call for the impeachment of the Bush administration, an end to the
illegal wars in the Middle East, and a new investigation of the event upon which
these wars were predicated. This rally is being coordinated with similar events
in New York, Los Angeles, Brussels, Dublin, and other major cities around the
world.

Washington, DC, August 29, 2007 – A mass rally to commemorate the anniversary
of 9/11 will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2007, from noon to 3:00 p.m.
at Lafayette Park, in front of the White House. The rally is sponsored by dc911truth.org
and will feature speeches by a number of leading authors and activists. It is
part of similar commemorations being held on the 11th and on preceding days
in New York and other major cities worldwide.

This event is the result of the collaboration of the 911truth movement with
members of the antiwar and impeachment movements. The message of the event is
three-fold: Impeach the Bush administration, end the war, and re-investigate
the crimes of September 11, 2001.

The rally will also celebrate the end of a long journey for walkers from around
the country who have come to Washington to highlight their cause. For March… Continue reading

9/11 Firefighter Sets the Historical Record Straight

Video of Loose Change/We Are Change interview with firefighter Manny Badillo at
the Official Loose Change Blog

By Manny Badillo, Victim’s Family Member, August 7th, 2007

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Firefighter John Schroeder, assigned to Engine Company 10
directly across the street from the World Trade Center complex, holds back tears
and describes his first-hand experience on Sept. 11th. His story directly contradicts
many aspects of the National Commission on Terrorist attacks any corroborates
many other eyewitnesses testimony.

“Standing outside the firehouse with my buddies, we were talking about
how beautiful the day was. Then just like that, our lives changed forever. Some
of those guys I would never see again.”

In this exclusive interview, Firefighter Schroeder recollects in great detail
how he was one of the first firefighters to rush to the complex. “We first
assembled on West Street, where we saw someone burnt beyond recognition. We
were like ‘What is going on here?’ and then went straight into the
Marriot building” From there, Firefighter Schroeder made his way to the
lobby of the North Tower. “It looked like a bomb went off, and we started
making our way up the stairs to rescue as many people as we could.”

As they were making there way up the floors, Firefighter Schroeder heard a
huge explosion. “The elevators just blew right out. We couldn’t
believe it. The plane hits 80 floors up but the elevators explode at least five
minutes later? It was unreal.”

Firefighter Schroeder made it all the way… Continue reading

No Worker’s Compensation for Media Hurt Covering 9/11

NEW YORK, New York, August 8, 2007 (ENS) – The New York Press Photographers
Association is asking members of the media who covered the September 11 attacks
on New York’s World Trade Center to contact the association.

These journalists were exposed to the same toxic chemicals and dust as first
responders, and the association wants to ensure that they receive worker’s compensation
for health problems resulting from that exposure.

David Handschuh, the NYPPA intergovernmental affairs chair and a photographer
for the "New York Daily News," circulated a letter to media Tuesday
asking people who covered the attacks to come forward.

In the letter, Handschuh explains that New York State has passed a law extending
the time for "Rescue and Recovery Workers" to file for Workers Compensation
payment for injuries sustained while working at the World Trade Center until
August 14, 2008.

"This is VERY good legislation that will help many people but unfortunately
excludes photographers, journalists, reporters, producers, correspondents and
others in the media who covered the attack for months afterwards," wrote
Handschuh.

"We feel that journalists have encountered the same health issues as other
rescue and recovery workers and should be treated equitably when it comes to
health challenges and care issues resulting from 9/11 exposure," he wrote.

Handschuh himself was injured while photographing the attack when debris from
the explosion of the second World Trade Center tower broke his leg, dislocated
his knee and caused other injuries.

Now among those suffering from breathing problems, Handschuh says he has… Continue reading

US Social Forum Supports Call for Independent, International Investigation into 9/11
Thanks to donations from some of our generous supporters, 911truth.org was present at the first ever United States Social Forum, along with 15 other 9/11 truth activists from six states. We attended with the idea we’d have to convince people to look at the need for a real investigation, but what we learned was that most everyone was already aware of some important 9/11 questions and agreed with us! Even better, we introduced a Resolution demanding an “independent, international investigation of 9/11″ which received resounding applause by thousands in attendance at the final Peoples Assembly! A Coalition of twenty-four activist groups gathered at Independence Center on July Fourth, 2007 for the Philadelphia Emergency Anti-War Convention. Three-hundred activists united to repeat history; as our forefathers/mothers of this nation did, we too must face tyranny, realizing the urgency to change the corrupt system causing so much suffering. Convention participants acknowledged how crucial it is we work together to achieve our vision. Distinguished speakers provided education and insights for the participants,… Continue reading

WTC INSURE ‘WA$TE’ — $1B FUND SQUANDERS CASH SUIT

By Susan Edelman

NYPost, July 17, 2007

Ex-cop John Walcott now has leukemia
Ex-cop John Walcott, who worked at Ground Zero and now has leukemia, has joined
a suit against a WTC insurance fund.

Big SpenderJuly
17, 2007 — The $1 billion insurance fund set up for the World Trade Center
cleanup has violated its congressional mandate to pay legitimate worker-injury
claims and “squandered” millions on expenses, an explosive lawsuit
is charging.

Controlled by Mayor Bloomberg, the WTC Captive Insurance Co. and its agents
have “unethically profited” from the federal fund, draining money
available for ill workers, alleges the suit, to be filed today in Manhattan
Supreme Court.

The WTC insurance fund has spent close to $74 million on overhead and legal
bills so far – but paid just $45,000 to one worker who fell off a ladder.

While letting the fund pay fat salaries and fees to its employees, consultants
and lawyers, the mayor has wrongly exploited the unit to fight claims by thousands
of workers with illnesses blamed on toxic exposure, the suit says.

“Congress gave Bloomberg a billion dollars to cover for the mistakes he
and his predecessor, Mayor Giuliani, made in failing to protect tens of thousands
of workers,” lawyer David Worby said. “Now, adding insult to injury,
he refuses to use the funds intended for that exact purpose – to help the sick
and dying 9/11 heroes.”

The suit will be filed by Worby Groner & Napoli Bern, a law firm already
battling the city in a class-action negligence suit on behalf of nearly 10,000
ill WTC responders.…

Want to hear Doo Wop artists that make you “FealGood,” and enjoy a concert designed to help many 9/11 First Responders and their families?

Friend Entertainment, Ltd., along with the FealGood Foundation, will be hosting a “Doo-Wop for the First Responders of 9/11” concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 21 at Queens College’s Kupferberg Center for the Performing Arts/Colden Auditorium.

All of the profits from the show will go to foundations for the families of the First Responders of 9/11, said Norman Wasserman, creator of Friend Entertainment.

The concert will include performances by original Doo-Wop artists: Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge, The Duprees, Frankie Lymon’s “Legendary” Teenagers, Jay Siegel and The Tokens, Vito Picone and The Elegants and Cleveland Still and The Dubs, according to Wasserman, who began the fund-raising organization 19 years ago.

Friend Entertainment organizes concerts for all kinds of events from New York to Las Vegas with mostly Doo-Wop and Motown acts, but this one, held at Queens College’s Colden Center is a perfect venue because of its size and its “central location” to New Jersey, Manhattan and Long Island, Wasserman explained.

Whitman’s Cover-Up an ‘Insult to Truth’

Christie Whitman has her story and she’s sticking to it. Her story is that she’s proud of how she responded to 9/11 as Environmental Protection Agency chief. Her story is that she fully and truthfully informed New Yorkers about the health hazards generated by the collapse of the World Trade Center.

She has told this fable for almost six years now, and she amplified it yesterday before Rep. Jerry Nadler’s subcommittee. Whitman was the soul of indignant defiance, and her testimony – under oath, no less – was an insult to the truth, as well as to the rescue workers, residents and everyone else who believed her false assurances that the air was safe.

Officials who were called to duty in the aftermath of the terror attack are owed gratitude for service well done and leeway for errors committed under battlefield conditions. But Whitman has exhausted all understanding by insistently denying the reality that she allowed thousands of people to be exposed needlessly to airborne, lung-scarring toxins.

Central to Whitman’s story are two claims, one having to do with the air downtown, and one having to do with the air over Ground Zero, where the pulverized Trade Center dust was thickest.

Whitman says that in pronouncing the air breathable she was speaking only about the atmosphere in the surrounding neighborhood, not about the air over The Pile. She says she was clear about this distinction and that her assertions were based on valid testing data.

But the EPA inspector general concluded that Whitman lacked the scientific basis for declaring the air safe anywhere.…

9/11 Responders Speak Out on Government Failure to Address Environmental, Health Impact of World Trade Center Collapse

First, a message from John Feal re. the upcoming 9/11 Responders Doo-Wop Rock ‘n Roll Benefit Concert on July 21 in New York City.

Dear all members of the truth movement…………Many of you know me by now, and I have formed a great close relationship with some real passionate Americans who seek the truth like I do for the sick and dying responders of 9/11. On July 21st we will be holding a great event to help ease the pain to some of these brave souls. This event will only be a success if everyone from all 9/11 organizations get involved. Please, I implore all of you to show your support, your passion, and your dedication to this cause. I have stood by your side, and now ask in return you stand by ours. I know many of you are not from New York, but spreading the word, or buying a T-shirtfor this event, will help so many sick and injured responders who desperately need your help. Please feel free to go to the web site or call me direct. Together we all can make a difference. As Americans we have extra money, food, or body parts. So if I can give a kidney, and help hundreds through my foundation, then maybe just maybe you all can help with some grass roots activism and spreading the word of a special date. I personally look forward to meeting many of you who have helped me help others in the past and hopefully in the future.

Giuliani Confronted At New York Fundraiser

WNBC.com POSTED: 11:02 am EDT May 29, 2007
UPDATED: 12:37 pm EDT May 30, 2007

NEW YORK — A radical group at a Bronx fundraiser confronted Rudolph Giuliani
on Tuesday morning, accusing him of being one of the “criminals of 9/11.”

The Republican candidate for president was outside City Island’s Sea Shore
restaurant in the Bronx, speaking with WNBC.com’s Adam Shapiro about his fundraising
in New York.

Afterward, a young woman claiming to be the relative of a Sept. 11, 2001, firefighter
who died when the towers collapsed, asked Giuliani why he allegedly told Peter
Jennings the towers would fall that day, but did not stop the rescue efforts
of firefighters and police officers.

The woman claims Giuliani knew the towers would fall, and allowed rescuers
to go to their deaths. She asked him, “How do you sleep at night?”

Watch the
woman confront Giuliani

Giuliani was extremely polite, telling the young woman she was wrong and that
he never said what she claimed. At that point, another protester from her group,
a young man, interrupted Giuliani with the same allegations.

Giuliani replied by saying, “I didn’t realize the towers would collapse.”
He later added, “No one that I know of had any idea they would implode.
That was a complete surprise.”

WNBC has obtained the transcript of Giuliani’s appearance with Jennings, from
the Giuliani 2008 campaign. This is the verbatim of the issue in question:

“I–I went down to the scene and we set up headquarters at 75 Barkley
Street, which was right there with the police commissioner, the fire commissioner,
the head of emergency management, and we were operating out of there when
we were told that the World Trade Center was going to collapse.

Death by WTC Dust Finally Being Addressed?

May 24, 2007
For the First Time, New York Links a Death to 9/11 Dust
By ANTHONY DePALMA

New York City’s chief medical examiner, Dr. Charles S. Hirsch, has for the first time directly linked a death to exposure to dust from the destruction of the World Trade Center.

In a letter made public yesterday, Dr. Hirsch said that he was certain “beyond a reasonable doubt” that dust from the twin towers contributed to the death of Felicia Dunn-Jones, 42, a civil rights lawyer who was engulfed on Sept. 11 as she ran from her office a block away from the trade center.

She later developed a serious cough and had trouble breathing, and she died five months after the terrorist attack.

Dr. Hirsch said he had decided to amend Mrs. Dunn-Jones’s death certificate to indicate that exposure to trade center dust “was contributory to her death.” The manner of death will be changed from natural causes to homicide.

Her name will be added to the official list of World Trade Center victims, and the official number of people who died as a result of the attack on the twin towers will be increased to 2,750.

By making a formal connection between Mrs. Dunn-Jones’s death and her relatively brief exposure to the dust, the medical examiner’s decision could have a wide impact on how the city deals with the growing number of illnesses and deaths linked in some way to ground zero.

The city is already under pressure to re-examine the deaths of people like James Zadroga, 34, a New York police detective who worked at the debris pile in the months after the towers fell.…

9/11 FIREFIGHTER LUNG AILMENTS ON THE RISE

By SUSAN EDELMAN

April 22, 2007 — Twenty-six firefighters who toiled at Ground Zero came down with sarcoidosis, an inflammatory illness that often attacks the lungs, in the five years after 9/11 – a significant increase, a new study has found.

The study has angered the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, which complains that the NYPD has refused to acknowledge that 9/11 caused sarcoidosis in cops.

Half the firefighter cases were diagnosed in the first year after 9/11 – a rate six times higher than the average for the Bravest in the 15 years before 9/11, according to a paper to be published in CHEST, a medical journal.

The results “strongly argue for improved respiratory protection” at future fires, disasters and toxic sites, says the report, whose authors include FDNY top doctors David Prezant and Kerry Kelly.

The PBA, which has its own registry of ailing WTC responders, counts 19 cops with sarcoidosis.

Unlike the FDNY, the NYPD has been reluctant to link the disease to 9/11.

The NYPD has also rejected some cops’ medical bills for sarcoidosis.

“First they denied any connection between the WTC and sarcoidosis. Now that there’s scientific evidence, they refuse to accept it,” PBA president Patrick Lynch told The Post.

NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said Commissioner Ray Kelly welcomed line-of-duty death benefits recently given the daughter of detective James Zadroga, 34, a 9/11 responder who died of respiratory illness.

“The department hasn’t refused to acknowledge a link. The medical division is reviewing the cases,” Browne said.

Giuliani vs the Firefighters

April 5, 2007
by Zen Garcia

Rudy Giuliani’s rise to prominent national and world attention was elevated
by his role as Mayor of New York City during a time of heightened challenge
that culminated in the fateful events of September 11th, 2001. The leadership
qualities he exhibited that day won him broad and wide acclaim from the 9/11
commission, "On September 11, 2001, the City of New York showed what it
was made of. The heroism of the firemen and the police officers who risked and
in previously unimaginable numbers gave their lives in the quest for saving
the lives of others, and your leadership on that day and in the days following
gave the rest of the nation, and indeed the world, an unvarnished view of the
indomitable spirit and the humanity, of this great city, and for that I salute
you."

Having been established as a hero, Giuliani has been emphasizing his 9/11 status
ever since and today is enjoying promising numbers in Presidential polls which
opine him as the ‘nominee’ to beat in ’08. He has refined himself as ‘America’s
Mayor,’ suggesting that if he can handle the events of that day, then surely
as President he could handle anything that might come his way. Many Americans
hold Giuliani in high regard, considering him a great leader, a political hero;
the type of person who can take charge in a moments notice and manage when things
seem at their worse. This definition has been so ingrained into… Continue reading

Bloomberg Seeks U.S. Aid for Treatment of 9/11 Illnesses

Bloomberg Seeks U.S. Aid for Treatment of 9/11 Illnesses
By SEWELL CHAN

Bloomberg testifies at a Sentate hearing

WASHINGTON, March 21 — Testifying at a Senate hearing on Wednesday, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg pleaded for at least $150 million in annual federal aid to monitor and treat thousands of people who became ill after being exposed to dust and debris at ground zero.

The mayor also called for the creation of a special fund to compensate those who became sick, urging that the city and its contractors be protected from potentially ruinous liability as a result of lawsuits brought by rescue and recovery workers who have argued that they were not adequately protected from the environmental hazards left by the World Trade Center’s collapse.

Senators from both parties expressed sympathy for the mayor’s arguments, which were delivered at the start of a three-hour hearing of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.

A panel appointed by Mr. Bloomberg last month put the total cost of evaluating and treating everyone potentially affected by the trade center attack at $392.6 million a year. The panel called for the federal government to provide, at a minimum, $153 million a year to sustain health programs run by the Mount Sinai Medical Center, the Fire Department and Bellevue Hospital Center.

Mr. Bloomberg told the committee’s chairman, Senator Edward M. Kennedy, Democrat of Massachusetts, and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Democrat of New York, that he supported a bill they introduced that would provide $1.9 billion for 9/11 health monitoring and treatment between 2008 and 2012.…

9/11: Looking for Truth in Credentials: The Peculiar WTC

by Kevin Ryan

Global Research
March 13, 2007

When Matthew Rothschild, editor of the online magazine The Progressive, wrote an article called “Enough of the 9/11 Conspiracies, Already”, we all knew he was not talking about the conspiracy theory that the US government sells us to justify the expanding 9/11 Wars.[1] To the contrary, in writing that article Mr. Rothschild was selling that same theory himself. What he actually meant was that people should not question the US government’s story of terror because credentialed experts have been found to support it. But the fact is that the experts found to support the official conspiracy theory of 9/11 are predominantly those who profit from doing so. That’s not to say that all of these people were “part of the conspiracy”. But they are, whether consciously or not, a part of the cover-up. And that, of course, is the greater crime.

The Bush Administration employed a number of such credentialed experts to give us multiple explanations for the unprecedented destruction of three tall steel-framed buildings at the World Trade Center (WTC). Unfortunately, all of those explanations have proven to be false, and this fact reminds us that academic credentials don’t necessarily make a person more capable, or more likely, to tell the truth.

Exactly how they could find so many experts on the fire-induced collapse of tall buildings is not immediately clear, considering such an event had never happened before. But it did help that the questions were quickly framed as being… Continue reading

New York Stories: 9/11 First Responders

Note: The Mt. Sinai study, referred to by David Miller, can be found here, with other resources from Mt. Sinai for individuals affected by WTC toxins.

Report from NY911Truth.org:
“9/11 First Responders: Voices From The Pit”
Sunday, June 25th at Community Church

I’m not sure how David Miller found us, but he has been attending our Sunday events for at least 3 months. NY 911 Truth has been enriched by his presence. Between hearing of his experience as a first responder with his National Guard unit, reading the many recent articles about the plight of responders, and meeting several other responders at a conference sponsored by SUNY-New Paltz, we’ve had our eyes and hearts opened to a unique aspect of the 9/11 tragedy.

We knew we had to have an event dedicated to calling attention to the cause of responders, survivors, and also downtown residents who were all told by the EPA, the air was safe to breath. However, 14 rescue dogs died and nearly 5 years later many responders have died, thousands are very sick, can’t work, and are in dire straits financially. Adding insult to injury, 1 billion dollars of federal funds are sitting in an offshore bank account and many have had to fight to get workers comp due to incredibly slick maneuvering by government agencies. Our event began with comments from Father Frank Morales who served as chaplain at Ground Zero in the early weeks after the attacks. He shared an essay about his experience which was deeply moving.…

Death by Dust: The frightening link between the 9-11 toxic cloud and cancer

Believe 9-11 is causing cancer?
An open thread in Power Plays

It was October 6, 2004, three years after Ernie Vallebuona’s three-month stint as a rescue and recovery worker at ground zero in the wake of the 9-11 terrorist attacks, and he was hunched over and trembling, racked by a pain like nothing he had experienced in his 40 years of sound health. He had just returned to his Rockland County home after finishing the midnight-to-8 a.m. shift in the NYPD vice unit, where he’d reported to work for the last six years. Vallebuona had bought some fish from a street vendor near his office, on the Lower East Side. And as he drove the 35 miles from Manhattan to New City, he chalked up a searing stomachache to food poisoning. Maybe the vendor had filleted that fish with a dirty machete?

Photo: To date, 75 recovery workers at ground zero have been diagnosed with blood cell cancers that a half-dozen top doctors and epidemiologists have confirmed as having been likely caused by that exposure. Ernie Vallabuona (left) is one of them. photo: Scott McDermott

By the time he pulled into his driveway, the pain had grown excruciating, too horrible for him to even lie in bed that day. The chills swept over his body; so did the shakes. He called his doctor, who suggested ulcer medication. His mother advised him to forget that diagnosis and consult a… Continue reading

Rice OK’d Claim of ‘Safe Air’ After 9/11

By SUSAN EDELMAN, HEATHER GILMORE and BRAD HAMILTON

September 24, 2006 — Condoleezza Rice’s office gave final approval to the infamous Environmental Protection Agency press releases days after 9/11 claiming the air around Ground Zero was “safe to breathe,” internal documents show.

Now Secretary of State, Rice was then head of the National Security Council – “the final decision maker” on EPA statements about lower Manhattan air quality, the documents say.

Scientists and lawmakers have since deemed the air rife with toxins.

Show Editor’s Note: »

This has not been a good couple of weeks for Condoleeza Rice. In addition to the story below, another appeared in the NY Post which, if accurate, makes her complicit in releasing “the air is safe to breathe” statements through EPA’s then-Director, Christie Todd Whitman. Whitman is currently co-defendant, with Michael Leavitt, administrator of EPA, in “a class action lawsuit brought on behalf of residents, students, and workers in Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn”.

Some 70,000 people are sick as a result of the toxic air after 9/11. The actions of EPA head Christie Todd Whitman in declaring the air safe to breath have already been called “conscience-shocking” by a Federal Judge. Thousands of people are sick, and some have died–the first responders, the cleanup crews, those who went back to work and kids who went back to school, based on the government’s safety assurances. Again we must ask… if members of this government were willing to knowingly cast aside the wellbeing of tens… Continue reading

Taking to the Streets on 9/11

By Jerry Mazza, Associate Editor
Online Journal

September 18, 2006

On the morning of
9/11, I couldn’t watch the reading of names on NY1. Not five years in a row. I
clicked off the ritual of bereaved families, somber politicos and media
scripters and went to work on the computer. Before I knew it, it was 1 o’clock.
Something gnawed. I needed to go down to Ground Zero, at least to pay my
respects to the gone. Yet what I found was very alive. Thousands
of 9/11 Truth Movement members shouting
,, “9/11 was an inside job,
9/11 was an inside job.” This interspersed with the raspy voice of Alex Jones
booming the facts of the Towers’ demise on a bullhorn. But this was no bull.
This was a whole new ballgame.

There were cordons
of cops in black and blue, white shirt officers, the brass, the suits, the
shooters with burp guns and helmets, tactical cops in caps. There were police
cars, SUVs, double-decker tourist buses crawling down Church Street, beeping
traffic streaming up it, both sides lined with protestors in front of the PATH
train entrance, the entrance to the hole, Ground Zero, visitors gawking, some
raising fists, with or against us.

But above all the
chant went on: “9/11 was an inside job, 9/11 was an inside job.” I slipped
inside the passionate crowd of protestors whose black t-shirts were lettered in
white: “Investigate 9/11.” Suddenly, that warm September sun, that cloudless
sky, that 9/11 day, felt good again.…
