Shame on Representative Cliff Stearns and shame on each and every one of the representatives who voted to make compensation for 9/11 first responders reliant upon a check for “terrorist” activities. Shame is a concept that blankets American actions as it responded to that grave day. I won’t belabor the many instances where this nation either killed or maimed others either in retribution or in the pretense at keeping the rest of us “safe” but I will say that this last act of betrayal by elected officials places all of us in greater danger. Frankly, if we don’t counter this betrayal, we deserve what we get.
What has come over us? Have we completely lost the ability to function as compassionate adults in an imperfect world? Think for one minute about the ramifications of such an act:
On 9/11/2001 when many people fled the horror of the scene at Ground Zero, countless firefighters, police officers, and brave civilian volunteers rushed to the scene to help. I believe that my own daughter who was on that day four or five months pregnant was almost home free precisely because others helped her almost, almost to safety. How many others walked away because they were provided help? We can only guess at the numbers. How many families of first responders are like my own — ten years out still suffering the effects… Continue reading
We understand that good people may disagree with our vision. But this is a private effort not connected to the Obama campaign or transition team, and we reserve the right to keep the competition and its content aligned with the stated mission and overall spirit of the project.
Thank you for your understanding. As mentioned above, we welcome you to directly petition the Obama administration about your proposal at http://change.gov/page/s/ofthepeople. And we hope you continue your work to advance change.

Donna Marsh O’Connor’s idea that a scientist be appointed to head the National Institute of Standards and Technology (imagine that!) is still listed here.
Donna Marsh O’Connor submitted this idea at change.org on November 9 (language below), which was then promoted at both 911truth.org and 911blogger. But at this point, the newly posted initiative has 297 votes, and is in this category’s first place. Those of you who acted quickly to support Donna’s initiative should nonetheless now vote for the new one, which has gained much more attention. And another initiative for the same thing was posted today… let’s try to focus on ONE of these now, and thus honestly reflect the demand for a new investigation.
This week’s international edition of Newsweek (Dec 1, 2008) includes an interesting article entitled “President 2.0,” discussing potentials of the internet use in an Obama presidency. In particular, it mentions a site called (www.change.org), which is collecting and allowing people to vote on ideas for the Obama administration.…Continue reading

First let me say, after years of skepticism re the Democratic Party, I am a Progressive Democrat and so my comments reflect that. Someday perhaps someone more powerful than I will be able to dismantle the two party system, and make more genuine choice possible in this country. Right now, there are two parties. For eight years George W. Bush and Dick Cheney impostered as Republicans. I have said before and will say again, they would not have fit into my party and of this I am proud. They led a band of rogues that brought this country to the brink of absolute despotism. Let the Republicans worry about that mess. I remember telling my students long ago, I didn’t vote for Bill Clinton for what he would do, I voted for Bill Clinton for what he said, for the values he espoused, for the way his insistence on social justice resonated. After his election, his actions were, indeed, another matter.
The good news: Barack Obama seems to be a decent man, tough enough to steer this nation in the left direction, confident enough to know he will succeed, smart enough to know that the powerful right still has the means to inflict great pain and re-enter greater and stronger. His election has elated many, particularly me, for a whole host of reasons, but for our purposes the following two:
The reign of Bush/Cheney/Rove (given a peaceful transition) is over.
Though I don’t believe that this… Continue reading

This will be the final film in this series. I want to thank the family members that were shown in these clips for speaking truth to power. I truly believe and hope that, at the very least, you will one day feel the satisfaction of knowing those responsible were held accountable. I also want to thank Ray McGovern for taking my question in July 2006, which gave me this most important question.
What’s being covered up?
Here are each of the clips in this series along with a brief description of where they came from, and who is in them.

Kean and Hamilton issued a statement today, January 2, 2008 (only six-plus years since 9/11/2001) that was “just-inned” on CNN. They published an editorial in the New York Times today. Their position: Their work was blocked, the investigation tainted. They repeatedly asked for tapes from the CIA that were never provided. They came just short of calling for a real investigation. They (as they have done since the beginning) left that work to the victims’ families.
Will you now cover 9/11 truth, not as a series of destructive conspiracy theories, but as a movement inhabited by sane citizens from all walks of life (scientists, CIA whistleblowers, theologians, professors, researchers, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and more) as well as family members of the victims who deserve as patriotic Americans the answers to the lingering questions of that day? Will you now take up the call first put together in mainstream media by the four heroic widows from New Jersey?
My daughter, Vanessa Lang Langer was pregnant and pulled from the pile whole and intact on 9/24/2001. She was found ten feet from an alley. Five minutes after the first plane hit Tower I, she was on the phone to the uptown office of Regus Business International, telling a colleague that those in Tower II were told they were safe. That five minutes and the seventeen minutes between those planes (yes, I do believe there were planes) were two lifetimes in my own world. She must have been… Continue reading
September 11, 2007
The day is somber as it always is now on September 11th. Today it is literally
somber, the weather gloomy and I feel somber. But this year I’m home, not in
New York City begging for 9/11 truth, nor in Valhalla where Vanessa is buried,
nor in Washington, D.C. lobbying persons wrapped so tight in metaphoric suits
that they cannot see beyond their own tailored personae to understand what I
want. It’s really unfair to them, after all, since I can never really have what
Somehow I am a part of the “truth” movement–a movement of those
family members and citizens who believe at least that there are key questions
to the events leading up to 9/11, the events of that day, and the events post
9/11 that were never asked (forget answered) and that these questions need to
be asked so that the world can go back to its bucolic ways pre-November 2000.
There is an irony in this position for me (at least one) and that is I never
really believed in truth before because it rarely, if ever, in human discourse
relies on a laying out of facts that are indisputable. Instead, truth comes
to mean there is consensus (or majority agreement) that facts laid out in a
particular way mean something. Truth is always dependent upon cultural and collective
agreement. It is a noun. But you cannot hold it, despite Jefferson and King’s
beautiful incantation. Truths hold us as we believe we hold them.…
With the Zogby results from last year showing 70 million Americans distrust the official story about 9/11, results of a brand new national poll to be released shortly, and the cross-issue coalitions coming to fruition lately, we know the numbers of people looking for this information will be even higher this year. It’s important to remind ourselves, and others, that we are NOT the disempowered “fringe element minority” media would have us believe.
We are millions and millions of patriotic, thinking, aware Americans and citizens of countries worldwide. Standing together on 9/11/07 is an important opportunity to recognize and build on our own strength, commitment, and power. Thanks for helping with that.
Donna Marsh O’Connor, mother of Vanessa Lang Langer who was killed in WTC Tower II, 93rd floor, has written the following Open Letter. Please help distribute this with the listings of events.
This September 11 will be the sixth anniversary of the day I had my last chance to talk to my daughter,… Continue reading
