& The July 25 Antiwar Demo in Boston
(A personal report by Nicholas Levis, July 27)
Several thousand people from around the world attended last weekend’s Boston Social Forum to promote cooperation and cross-pollination among social justice movements. I don’t believe there has been this kind of energy, urgency and enthusiasm tied to a global perspective for far-reaching change since the decline of the Sixties movements. More than ever, people know that it all fits together: ecology, local economics and global finance, social justice, minority rights, women’s rights, the need for democratization, putting an end to the new global feudalism, imperialism and perpetual war. Most impressive was the obvious vitality of a wildly diverse, growing and determined American opposition to Bush, which understands that unseating him is only the beginning.
There were more than 600 events scheduled along ten “tracks,” and although the average time block featured about 30 simultaneous meetings, every room I passed seemed to be packed. I can hardly report on the whole thing!
A contingent of 9/11 Truth activists visited the Boston Social Forum to promote our own activities. We found that 9/11 Truth has turned into a welcome cause among antiwar, peace and social justice activists. The vast majority are willing to listen, they no longer consider screwy the idea that intel elements inside and outside the U.S. government allowed the attacks or were complicit. Nearly everyone in the scene by now has seen the Deception Dollar and is at least aware of our theses.… Continue reading

September 11 Press Release
September 11, 2006 (PRWEB) — The year leading up to the fifth anniversary of the September 11 attacks has been marked by an unprecedented upsurge in public mistrust of the official story portrayed in the 9/11 Commission Report. Respected national polling firms Zogby and Scripps Howard have shown that less than half the public believes in the conclusions or integrity of the 9/11 Commission, and 36% of Americans now think the administration was actively complicit in the attacks to advance its preplanned Mideast war agenda.
This outburst of popular skepticism has come in spite of five years of lockstep support for the official 9/11 narrative by the national press, broadcast media, and both major political parties. The mounting distrust spans the political, religious and ethnic spectrums, and has been largely driven by compelling new films, books, whistleblower reports, and escalating grassroots activism. Collectively these resources and constituencies not only offer the country hope for a fresh and truly honest 9/11 probe, but also a potent new base for radical political reform.
Activating the Newly Awakened
To mobilize the 70+ million voting age 9/11 skeptics identified by Zogby, 911truth.org has organized “Politics 911,” a national effort to identify congressional candidates who would demand an honorable new 9/11 inquiry and then help generate support for their election. This campaign has started polling candidates nationwide and is currently recruiting grassroots poll volunteers at http://www.911truthgroups.org/911Truth.…Continue reading
We have critical windows of opportunity to bring the 9/11 truth imperative
to two important civil servants who are, it would seem, open to looking at evidence.
1. Charles Hynes, Brooklyn, NY District Attorney
Brooklynite Sander Hicks, author of The Big Wedding,
recently wrote to Hynes, appealing him to open up some form of investigation about 9/11. Hicks has also contacted
some of Hynes’s staff to facilitate community input.
A district attorney — and in this case, a D.A. in a region with plenty of
constituents impacted by 9/11 — is a very powerful legal official: He would
have the power to convene a grand jury, to subpoena any witness or document, and
the grand jury could issue indictments against high officials or whomever. The
citizens who make up a grand jury decide whether indictments are justified. If
a prosecutor like Hynes (who successfully took down FBI-mobster Lin DeVecchio)
decides that he ought to pursue the 9/11 crimes from a new vantage point, it would
be a watershed event.
If you are a Brooklyn resident, contacting Hynes has special meaning — he is your D.A.!
So, before you do anything else tomorrow, do at least one of these things, in this order of importance:
1. CALL HIS OFFICE. Call and in calmly, respectfully, explain why you think a grand jury is necessary. Consider preparing brief notes. Call Orlando Rivera at 1.718.250.2300
2. WRITE A PERSONAL LETTER.
Letters are concrete pieces of evidence of the public voice. Type… Continue reading
Recently, Student Scholars for 9/11 Truth founder Justin Martell interviewed Ohio Representative and presidential candidate, Dennis Kucinich.
Justin Martell: Can you maybe address the 9/11 truth movement?
Dennis Kucinich: First of all, you have to understand that all over the country people are concerned about whether or not they’ve been told the truth about 9/11 and the way that the administration handled 9/11, taking us into a war against Iraq that had nothing to do with 9/11. It deepened people’s suspicions about the possibility there may have been a cover-up. Because, why would the government lie about a cause for war? And so, what I’m saying is that I respect the concerns people have about whether they’ve been told the truth or not.
Because I want to be president of the United States, I know that unless you address that lack of trust, you’re not going to be able to successfully lead a nation. And I want to be quite specific about this. It’s my intention as Chairman of the Domestic Policy Subcommittee to focus in on two areas that I’ve — there are a number of areas, probably dozens of areas that haven’t been appropriately probed. But I know of two, that I’m looking at. I’m not at liberty to discuss exactly what they are, but our committee will hold hearings on two discreet areas that have major implications with respect to the story that Americans have been told about 9/11.… Continue reading

by The Sleuth, Mary Ann Akers … “Behind the Scenes in Washington”
Washington Post — Looks like he’s reached his boiling point.
Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), the most liberal of the Democratic presidential candidates in the primary field, declared in a letter sent to his Democratic House colleagues this morning that he plans to file articles of impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney.
Kucinich has made ending the war in Iraq the central theme of his campaign. He has even taken aim at the leading Democratic presidential candidates in the field for their votes on authorizing the war.
Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution gives Congress the authority to impeach the president, vice president and “all civil Officers of the United States” for “treason, bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”
Sources tell the Sleuth that in light of the mass killings at Virginia Tech Monday, Kucinich’s impeachment plans have been put on hold. There will be no action this week, they say.
Kucinich’s office had no comment on the Congressman’s “Dear Colleague” letter — which apparently was drafted over the weekend, before the school massacre — or on what the focus of articles of impeachment against Cheney would be.
But Kucinich shouldn’t hold his breath on getting anywhere with his impeachment plan. “We’ll see a Kucinich Administration before we’ll see a Cheney impeachment,” quipped one Democratic aide.
Here is the text of his letter, a copy of which was forwarded to the Sleuth:

KUCINICH SEEKS CHENEY IMPEACHMENT; AMERICANS TO RALLY NATIONWIDE ON SATURDAY
NEW YORK, N.Y., April 23, 2007 – Following on today’s announcement by Rep. Dennis Kucinich that he will file Articles of Impeachment against Vice-President Dick Cheney, Americans across the country will take to the streets on April 28 to call for the impeachment of both Cheney and Bush. From Miami, Florida to North Pole, Alaska, more than 100 actions are planned nationwide.
Jacob Park, National Coordinator of the April 28 actions, said “George Bush and Dick Cheney lied the nation into an illegal war of aggression, are spying on millions of innocent Americans, and have authorized the use of torture. The time has come for all Americans—particularly our representatives in Congress—to decide where they stand. To turn a blind eye to lying, spying, and torture makes a mockery of our most basic values and the very notion of democracy.”
On April 28, a visit by George Bush to Miami will be greeted with a massive impeachment rally organized by dozens of local groups. At the California Democratic Convention in San Diego, hundreds of delegates will defy the party leadership by bringing an impeachment resolution to the floor. Thousands of Americans will form “human murals” spelling out “IMPEACH!” with their bodies at Ocean Beach in San Francisco, Coney Island in New York, the foot of the Washington monument in Washington, D.C., and other locations. And elsewhere people will spell it out… Continue reading
Impeachment IS on the Table!!!
Yesterday, Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich introduced House Resolution 333,
of Impeachment Against Richard B. Cheney. The three articles accuse
deceiving the public and Congress about Iraq WMD and a link between
al Quaeda, and of publicly threatening agression against Iran,
any real threat to the United States.” You can read a Synopsis,
Resolution, and supporting documentation at href="http://kucinich.house.gov/SpotlightIssues/documents.htm"

(enter HRes 333 in the search bar, then click “Bill Summary and
to see cosponsors, committee assignment, etc.) We’ll need to lend
to this effort if it’s to succeed. Kucinich’s staff has said they need
call and write members of the House Judiciary Committee, and our own
right now! In addition, we need to heavily contact the media — an
internet search brings up almost nothing about either Kucinich’s press
conference held last night at 5pm, nor anything about the Articles
themselves. This is outrageous! If you’re subscribing to a “news” outlet
that’s not reporting on this important news, this is surely the time to
cancel your subscription and tell them why.
ACTION REQUEST: 911Truth.org is working on preparing
materials very specific to crimes committed by Cheney on 9/11–if you

Two pieces of good news from the impeachment front.
1) House Resolution 333, Impeachment of Cheney, has gained support and now has seven cosponsors on board! Please call your representatives every single day until this is a reality. A mere two minutes of your time adds up to a lot of staff time when joined with calls from other constituents.
Articles of Impeachment Against Cheney Gain Cosponsors
Congresswoman Barbara Lee, Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, has joined Lynn Woolsey, the other Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, and Congress Members Yvette Clarke, Jan Schakowsky, William Lacy Clay, Albert Wynn, and Dennis Kucinich in cosponsoring Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney (H. Res. 333). For details, see: impeachcheney.org

The list of state Democratic Parties that have passed resolutions urging impeachment of Bush and Cheney has just grown to 15. Meanwhile, 11 state legislatures have introduced such resolutions, which have now been passed by at least 77 cities and towns and a growing list of labor unions and other organizations. These resolutions are all listed at impeachpac.org/resolutions-list

Today (Monday) the Senate will vote on a “no-confidence” resolution against Attorney General Alberto Gonzales for lying about … well, everything. From August 3rd – 12th, 911truth.org will join a coalition of organizations
to help host “Answers For 9/11 Families” week. Hundreds
of Americans will come together at house parties across the country to screen
the acclaimed film featuring the September 11th families, 9/11 Press For
This stunning movie exposes the government’s and the media’s failure to answer
the many important questions of the 9/11 Family Steering Committee, a group
of twelve victim’s relatives who tenaciously fought the White House to force
the creation of the 9/11 Commission. Six of them tell their story first-hand
in the movie, revealing for the first time that “70% of our questions”
were not answered by the Final Report. The movie stitches together rare overlooked
news clips, buried stories, and government press conferences to clearly detail
a pattern of deception by U.S. officials.
Now, Congressman Dennis Kucinich
has announced plans for a new 9/11 investigation beginning in September
because “the 9/11 Commission… never resolved some conflicting facts.”
Recently, Please join the effort to encourage Congress to support investigations
until all remaining Family Steering Committee questions are answered.

From The People’s Email Network:
We Must Support H.Res. 333 To Impeach Cheney
Dennis Kucinich has stepped forward to bring the resolution to
impeach Cheney as a privileged resolution. This means that the House
is forced to consider it. So what are the so-called leaders of the
House planning on doing? They are “planning” on trying to quash
debate with an obscure parliamentary trick called a “motion to
table”. So what are we planning on doing?
We’re planning on calling each and every member of the House of
Representatives and demand that they actually represent us. We’re
planning on demanding that they support H.Res. 333 and give it a full
and free debate and hearing, and to reject the motion to table. We’re
planning on telling them that unless they stand up for the people
now, we will find new and different candidates for their seats,
through primary challenges if necessary in the very next election.
Here again, we have created a special web page where you can lookup
the local district office phone numbers of your own personal house
H.Res 333 Action Page: http://www.usalone.com/hres333.php
Again, if you can’t get through to your house member in Washington,
use the instant lookup function on the page above to get the name of
your own representative and all their local phone numbers.
Unless Cheney is impeached they will absolutely bomb Iran. Unless
Cheney is impeached they will absolutely start World War 3, and very
likely declare martial law and officially suspend the constitution,
as just happened in Pakistan.…
You wouldn’t know it if you just watch TV news or read the corporate press,
but this past Tuesday, something remarkable happened. Despite the pig-headed
opposition of the Democratic Party’s top congressional leadership, a majority
of the House, including three Republicans, voted to send Dennis Kucinich’s long
sidelined Cheney impeachment bill (H Res 333) to the Judiciary Committee for
The vote was 218 to 194.
Now the behind-the-scenes partisan maneuvering that preceded that vote was
arcane indeed, with Kucinich first exercising a member’s privilege motion to
present his stymied impeachment bill to the full House, only to have Speaker
Nancy Pelosi arrange for a colleague (Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-MD) to
offer a motion to table it. The Republicans, anxious to embarrass the Speaker,
threw a wrench into that plan, though, by voting as a bloc to oppose tabling.
Since Kucinich already has 22 co-sponsors for his bill, it was clear that the
tabling gambit would fail. As soon as that became apparent, rank-and-file Democrats,
unwilling to be seen by their constituents as defending Cheney, rushed to change
their votes to opposing the tabling motion. In the end, tabling failed by 242
to 170 with 77 Democrats supporting a pleasantly surprised Kucinich.
To avoid a floor debate on the merits of impeaching the eminently impeachable
Vice President Cheney, Pelosi and her allies then moved to send Kucinich’s bill
directly to the Judiciary Committee. They were joined by three Republicans,
including maverick Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul (R-TX).

*Impeachment Next Step: Judiciary Committee HEARINGS*
(Ed.: What follows has been adapted, with appreciation, from Democrats.com. Lest you think this is a “Democrats-only” issue, please see the two articles at the end of this call to action.)
Thanks to Dennis Kucinich, Tuesday was an historic day for impeachment!
As promised, Kucinich requested a floor vote on H.Res. 333, and as expected, BushDemocrat Leader Steny Hoyer moved to table the bill. And then all hell broke loose as 165 Republicans voted with Kucinich and 85 other brave Democrats to force a debate on impeachment and thereby embarass Nancy Pelosi.
To block that debate, Hoyer moved to send H.Res. 333 back to the Judiciary Committee, and that motion passed with the support of all but 5 Democrats (Kucinich, Bob Filner, Marcy Kaptur, Maxine Waters, and Ed Towns). A live blog of the proceedings is posted at http://impeachcheney.org

I will urge the Judiciary Committee to schedule impeachment hearings immediately and not let this issue languish as it has over the last six months.

Representative Robert Wexler (D-FL 19th), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, has established a website,www.wexlerwantshearings.com, inviting public support for his call to hold hearings on the Kucinich H.R. 333/799, a bill to impeach the vice president.
H.R. 333, introduced on April 24, 2007, languished motionless, though it gathered twenty-two co-sponsors, until November 6, when its author, Ohio Democrat and presidential candidate, Dennis Kucinich, brought it to the House floor as a privileged motion. The bill has three articles outlining some of the high crimes and misdemeanors alleged against the vice president. The first two articles concern the misrepresentation of intelligence about Iraqi weapons of mass destruction and Iraqi ties to al Qaida in the run-up to the war, launched in March of ’03. The third pertains to the more recent lies about and threats to launch an illegal war against Iran.
The bill created unexpected drama on the House floor. Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) made an immediate and expected motion to table, a move that would, if passed, have effectively killed the bill. A recorded vote was called and early voting marched along at more than 2:1 in favor of no debate. Then, as the tally reached around 250 to table, an extraordinary turnaround began. A significant number of Republican votes began to change. There was a rising buzz on the floor, audible as C-Span monitored the process, when votes for debate overtook those for tabling. When the dust had settled, it was 251-162 against tabling, a majority of Republicans joined by only 86 Democrats favoring debate.…Continue reading
Last night, I took to the floor of the House of Representatives (Ed., transcript appended) and outlined our case as to why this Congress must hold immediate hearings on Rep. Kucinich’s Articles of Impeachment.
I didn’t do it alone: I was armed with nearly 200,000 signatures of support from you and so many others. Please watch the video (below) of this speech and forward it to as many people as possible. I’ve posted it on the front page of www.WexlerWantsHearings.com
This morning, I delivered letters to all of my colleagues in the House of Representatives, urging them to support Cheney Impeachment Hearings. You can read a copy of both the letter to my colleagues as well as the letter to Chairman Conyers I am asking them to sign at:
Additionally, I have delivered to my colleagues in the Judiciary Committee a list of names who have signed up at www.WexlerWantsHearings.com. We now have almost 200,000 patriotic Americans dedicated to this cause.
We are beginning to make some progress. I have urged the Democratic Leadership to enforce the subpoenas being ignored by Harriet Miers and White House Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten by holding them in contempt of Congress.
This fight is not over. You must continue the pressure on your representatives and the media, or Congress will take no notice. That would be a historic mistake — one we must prevent Congress from making.
We stand at a critical juncture in our efforts. Forget all of those arguments that it is too late or that we have run out of time.…Continue reading
Description at DN!:
Former Democratic Rep. Cynthia McKinney Seeks Presidency as Green Party Nominee
Former Democratic Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney is now seeking the presidency as a Green Party hopeful. McKinney was the first African American woman elected to Congress in Georgia. She is among the most outspoken critics of the
Bush administration and one of her her last measures in office was to introduce a bill for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney. She joins to talk about her new campaign and why she left the Democratic Party after more than a decade in public office.
But McKinney’s history of opposing war predates this Bush administration. In 1991 she spoke out against the Persian Gulf war in the Georgia House of Representatives. But McKinney left the Democratic Party late last year–after serving six terms in Congress. She said the Democrats had become “no different than their Republican counterparts.” Today she hopes to be the Green Party nominee for President.

Against a backdrop of increasing public alarm over the power and reliability of corporate news sources, more than 300 progressive media activists, professionals and academics gathered in Santa Cruz over the weekend of Jan. 25-27. The task of the Independent Media Strategy Summit: to bust up corporate media domination by envisioning and launching a reliable, grassroots, equally powerful “main street media” alternative. So what happened and just how well did they do?
Great White Way
It’s Friday morning, Jan. 25. I’m bending into a monsoon downpour, slogging toward Stevenson Hall on the Sonoma State University campus. I’m here to snag a ride to Santa Cruz. My backpack’s weight shifts and shimmies, causing me to spaz out on the wet walkway. I nearly land on my ass, twice, before arriving at the office of media summit organizer and Project Censored chief Peter Phillips. Nobody’s home. Down the hall I hear a radio weather guy say that six more inches of rain is heading for the Santa Cruz Mountains by noon, which is exactly when we’re to cross them. Peter Phillips walks up the hallway and asks me if I’m John.
Students start arriving. It’s your typical pre-outing anarchy. Peter tells me to ride with Mark. Mark tells me to ride with Peter. I hop in Peter’s car, along with John. On the way, Peter outlines the upcoming summit and tells me he’s paying $59 a night to stay at a nearby motor lodge. I’m… Continue reading
WASHINGTON DC – 02.21.08 – Over 200 9/11 First Responders, family members and
supporters will be rallying on Capitol Hill this Tuesday, February 26th.
From 10:00am to 12:00pm, First Responders will rally on the West Lawn of Capitol
Scheduled speakers include Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (NY), Congressman
Jerry Nadler (NY), Congressman Tim Bishop (NY) Congressman Dennis Kucinich (OH)
and other Congressional leaders. Advocates of several 9/11 health organizations
as well as family members and first responders from September 11, 2001 will
also be discussing the health issues they currently face.
The rally is aimed to address the following issues:
* The federal government just cut 9/11 Health Care funding by 77%. A paltry
$25 million was designated for fiscal year 2009, down from $108 million in
2008. This means every program in existence (including Mt. Sinai) will be
operating on a severely reduced budget.
* This past December 2007, Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Michael
Leavitt canceled plans for the World Trade Center Business Process Center.
This center was designed to provide treatment for the 10,000-plus First Responders
who reside outside the New York metropolitan area, many of whom are seriously
* The 9/11 Health & Compensation Act (aka the James Zadroga bill) has
still not been passed. This very important piece of legislation that would
help all 9/11 families has been ignored within Congress up until now–it is
time to speak up to to get it passed!

Kucinich: Impeach Bush
by Matthew Hay Brown
Rep. Dennis Kucinich, who introduced legislation last year to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney, is now aiming higher.
On the House floor this evening, the Ohio Democrat proposed impeaching President Bush. In language similar to that in the articles of impeachment he raised against Cheney, Kucinich sought support for a 35-count indictment charging Bush with misleading Congress and the American people into war with tales of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
Democratic House leaders have opposed impeaching Bush or Cheney as an unhelpful distraction. They were nearly embarrassed last year when Republicans voted to take up Kucinich’s effort against Cheney in order to force a debate; they are unlikely to let the matter get so far this time.
Bob Fertik, president of Democrats.com, one of the groups pushing for impeachment congratulated Kucinich on his “historic leadership.”
“We’ve waited seven years to find one Member of Congress brave enough to stand up for our Constitution, for which generations of Americans have fought and died,” Fertik said. “We are thrilled and honored that Dennis Kucinich has chosen to be that one genuine patriot.”

Rep. Kucinich introduces Bush impeachment resolution
WASHINGTON (AP) — Rep. Dennis Kucinich, a former Democratic presidential contender, said Monday he wants the House to consider a resolution to impeach President Bush.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi consistently has said impeachment was “off the table.”
