“That which you do not resist and mobilize to stop
you will learn — or be forced — to accept.”
From the Call to Drive out the Bush Regime, 2005
Barack Obama is sending a surge of 20,000 troops to Afghanistan.
An anti-war movement that does not move immediately to oppose the Obama
doctrine of shifting the central front of the war on terror to Afghanistan,
no longer deserves to be called an anti-war movement.
Millions of people voted for Obama because they thought he would end the war.
Yet Obama filled his cabinet with Hillary “Obliterate Iran” Clinton,
Robert Gates, James Jones and Susan Rice (“a kettle of hawks,” said
He is not only continuing an unjust war by leaving 80,000 troops and 17 permanent
bases in Iraq, and all over the region, including nuclear carrier-led task forces
with enough firepower to “annihilate” any country in the region, but
Obama is enlisting many progressive sections of society to support and be complicit
in waging a spreading war for U.S. hegemony and imperialist expansion known
as the “war on terror.”
The election of the first Black president is effectively re-branding preemptive
and illegal wars of aggression to make us feel good about them. Massive anti-war
sentiment and action is already being transformed into flag-waving patriotism,
passivity and capitulation in the face of horrors.
The U.S. military, stretched thin and full of discontent after six years of
carnage in Iraq, is now being replenished.…

"An army of principles can penetrate where an army of soldiers cannot."
Thomas Paine (Revolutionary)
I was recently in Cuba to attend a Human Right’s conference. Cuba is a lovely
country (with many problems still) that will be celebrating 50 years of Revolution
on January 1st of 2009.
Cuba is struggling economically because there are limits to what a tiny island
nation can do, especially when the mightiest nation on this planet sits menacingly
to the north and has maintained a blockade against trade and travel for many
decades. The nation of Cuba is struggling economically, but since they have
been able to survive (not quite thrive) after all this time gives the citizens
of Cuba a rightful pride and sense of unity that is not so apparent in The Empire
that has tried to crush them.
The Revolution led by the Castro brothers, Che Guevara and many other Cuban
heroes overthrew the US puppet government in Havana led by US proxy General

The 7th anniversary of September 11, 2001 is approaching and it seems like
a good time to reflect on what our nation has lost since that tragic day and
what we can do to go forward.
I do not think that anyone alive on that day will forget the shock that struck
our nation when the symbols of US capitalism and militarism were struck out
of the clear blue sky. I was in panic mode for a few days, because I did not
hear from Casey who was stationed at Ft. Hood on that day and his base went
into lock-down and he was too busy to call. Even though we mourn with our fellow
Americans, the loss of over 3000 innocent people and the pain their families
have had to deal with, the attacks of 9-11 have touched every American.
There are several ways to look at 9-11:
– 9-11 was planned and executed by the US government.
— BushCo did not plan 9-11, but they knew it was going to happen and
did nothing to prevent it and, in fact, may have allowed it to happen.
— 9-11 was planned and executed by a group of 17 terrorists (14 of them
from Saudi Arabia) without the foreknowledge of the US government and we were
attacked because the terrorists "hated our freedoms and democracy."
Whichever of the theories is true, one thing is for sure: the Bush regime’s
response to 9-11 was woefully… Continue reading

broadcasts of Republican conventions Mon-Thur of this week. We also will be
having coverage of the Ron Paul counter convention and on the streets at the
RNC. We are authorized to broadcast this converage.
We think that the 911truth listener will quickly tire of the Democratic and
Republican parties after they hear all the mombo jumbo at the conventions and
no truth issues are ever really addressed and will ultimately gravitate to the
Green Party and Ron Paul. Cynthia McKinney is the only Presidential Candidate
supporting 911 truth issues and has a track record of courageously confronting

Last night 911Truth.org hosted a conference call with Rep. Dennis Kucinich. If you missed it, or would like to listen again and forward to friends,
In addition, NoLiesRadio.org will rebroadcast this conversation at 11am Pacific Saturday. Following are the questions we asked him, as well as the full transcript, with a few links and very brief commentary, which we’re posting for convenience and further study.
We are grateful to Rep. Kucinich for his time with us, especially on the day he introduced a powerful Article of Impeachment against George Bush; to Allan Rees of NoLiesRadio.org for recording the call and making available; to Paul Deslauriers for organizing the call; and we’re grateful to all of you for listening, for submitting questions, and for your ongoing commitment to reclaiming our government!
At this time we most strongly encourage you to get on the phone, right now! Call every member of the House Judiciary Committee, over and over, to demand hearings on impeachment and a vote out of Committee and onto the full House Floor immediately. If your own Representative is a member of the Committee, double your efforts there. If s/he’s not a member, call anyway, and insist that they support this critical effort, cosponsor the bill, and work aggressively to push the Committee to move on this right away. Full committee member contact information is available at http://judiciary.house.gov/about/members.html , and a call to the main Committee number can be made to 202-225-3951, or email sent via… Continue reading

It’s crazy, but it’s coming soon — from the same folks who brought us Iraq.
Unlike the attack on Iraq five years ago, to deal with Iran there need be no massing of troops. And, with the propaganda buildup already well under way, there need be little, if any, forewarning before shock and awe and pox — in the form of air and missile attacks — begin.
This time it will be largely the Air Force’s show, punctuated by missile and
air strikes by the Navy. Israeli-American agreement has now been reached at
the highest level; the armed forces planners, plotters and pilots are working
out the details.
Emerging from a 90-minute White House meeting with President George W. Bush on June 4, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said the two leaders were of one mind:
“We reached agreement on the need to take care of the Iranian threat. I left with a lot less question marks [than] I had entered with regarding the means, the timetable restrictions, and American resoluteness to deal with the problem. George Bush understands the severity of the Iranian threat and the need to vanquish it, and intends to act on that matter before the end of his term in the White House.”
Does that sound like a man concerned that Bush is just bluff and bluster?
A member of Olmert’s delegation noted that same day that the two countries
had agreed to cooperate in case of an attack… Continue reading

Against a backdrop of increasing public alarm over the power and reliability of corporate news sources, more than 300 progressive media activists, professionals and academics gathered in Santa Cruz over the weekend of Jan. 25-27. The task of the Independent Media Strategy Summit: to bust up corporate media domination by envisioning and launching a reliable, grassroots, equally powerful “main street media” alternative. So what happened and just how well did they do?
Great White Way
It’s Friday morning, Jan. 25. I’m bending into a monsoon downpour, slogging toward Stevenson Hall on the Sonoma State University campus. I’m here to snag a ride to Santa Cruz. My backpack’s weight shifts and shimmies, causing me to spaz out on the wet walkway. I nearly land on my ass, twice, before arriving at the office of media summit organizer and Project Censored chief Peter Phillips. Nobody’s home. Down the hall I hear a radio weather guy say that six more inches of rain is heading for the Santa Cruz Mountains by noon, which is exactly when we’re to cross them. Peter Phillips walks up the hallway and asks me if I’m John.
Students start arriving. It’s your typical pre-outing anarchy. Peter tells me to ride with Mark. Mark tells me to ride with Peter. I hop in Peter’s car, along with John. On the way, Peter outlines the upcoming summit and tells me he’s paying $59 a night to stay at a nearby motor lodge. I’m… Continue reading

The 234th Anniversary of the Boston
Tea Party: 9/11 Truth Comes to the “Hub”
In 1858, Oliver Wendell Holmes coined the phrase, “The Hub of the Solar
System,” when referring to the Massachusetts State House in an Atlantic
Monthly article, “The Autocrat of the Breakfast Table,” in which he
boastfully implied that Boston at that time was the center of everything intellectual.
One hundred and forty nine years after Holmes penned the affectionate metaphor
and two hundred and thirty four years after the infamous Boston Tea Party, Bostonians
are again attempting to appeal to the “Hub’s” intellectual prowess,
this time with regard to the academic and scientific challenges taking place
around the world concerning the government’s official explanations of the September
11, 2001 attacks.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) announced he would move to force a vote next week on his resolution calling for the impeachment of Vice President Dick Cheney.
“The momentum is building for impeachment,” Kucinich said in a statement on his Web site. “Millions of citizens across the nation are demanding Congress rein in the Vice President’s abuse of power.
Kucinich said he plans to introduce a privileged resolution, which would have priority for a House floor vote, on Nov. 6. A vote on the measure would be required within two days.
Observers expect a motion to table Kucinich’s resolution, which has 21 Democratic co-sponsors. It is almost certain that such a move to kill the resolution would be successful, but activists are urging members of Congress to support Kucinich’s move.
“We need you to ask your representative to vote No on tabling, Yes on giving impeachment a chance,” wrote David Swanson on the pro-impeachment Website AfterDowningStreet.org. “Those who vote Yes to table cannot use the excuse that ‘We don’t have the votes,’ since others will at that same instant with exactly the same exertion be voting No. Please scroll down to contact Congress and the media right away!”
Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has long said that impeachment was “off the table” and Kucinich has had little success spurring legislative action on his resolutions, despite the growing number of lawmakers who have signed on as co-sponsors since it was introduced this spring.
Kucinich’s full statement… Continue reading
A True Hero on 9/11
and ever since then…
With Special Guests Peter Dale Scott and Cindy Sheehan
William Rodriguez, who was working as custodian in-charge of three 110-story
stairwells in the North Tower of the World Trade Center on the day it was destroyed,
and who personally saved fifteen others from certain death, will share his harrowing
experience of the 9-11 tragedy at a special presentation, Thursday, November
1st at 7 pm, at the Grand Lake Theater, 3200 Grand Avenue in Oakland, California.
He will also explain his deep disappointment with what he describes as serious
inadequacies in the final report by the 9-11 Commission.
At the White House on five occasions and recognized as a “National Hero”
by the Senate of Puerto Rico, William Rodriguez, in possession of a master key
to all of the stairwell doors at each floor in the 110 story building that day,
personally saved the lives of 15 people and aided NYC firefighters in saving
hundreds of others.
Rodriguez has used his recognition as one of the true heroes of that tragic
day to help draft and pass legislation on behalf of victim’s family members
and survivors, to help raise millions of dollars for the victims of 9/11 and
their families, to bring attention to the health concerns of thousands of first
responders, now sick with “Ground Zero Syndrome,” and to lobby for
the creation of the 9/11 Commission.

Hold Bush/Cheney Accountable on Constitution Day
By Stephen Rohde and Peter Thottam
Monday 17 September 2007
On this day 220 years ago, thirty-nine delegates in Philadelphia approved the United States Constitution. In honor of that historic event, September 17 has been designated Constitution Day.
Auspicious celebrations are planned around the country. President Bush will likely extol the wisdom of the founding fathers and the genius of the Constitution. But James Madison warned that the Constitution would be but a mere “paper barrier” to tyranny unless the people saw to it that its limitations on the exercise of excessive power by the government were enforced.
To that end, Madison and his colleagues included the powerful remedy of Impeachment, using the term no less than six times. In Article II, Section 4, they provided that “The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”
Today, as we celebrate Constitution Day, many Americans are asking whether President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney have committed “High Crimes and Misdemeanors,” justifying their impeachment and removal from office.
Have Bush and Cheney abused their powers of office by using information they knew to be false as justification for the US invasion of Iraq; condoning and authorizing the torture of prisoners of war and rendering detainees to foreign countries known to torture; maintaining secret prisons and other detention facilities in violation of the Geneva… Continue reading

One of the young filmmakers behind a controversial 9/11 conspiracy documentary was arrested this week on charges that he deserted the Army, even though he claims he received an honorable discharge.
Originally reported 7/25 in the New York Daily Star , and followed up with another story on 7/26, Loose Change producer Korey Rowe was arrested Monday night at his home in Oneanta, NY. “Rowe was arrested on a ‘military warrant’ that [the Sheriff] said was brought to the attention of deputies by the Oneonta Police Department, who received information from a source outside of that department.”911truth.org contacted Dylan Avery to ask how we could best help, and were asked, like everyone, to keep this relatively quiet until they figured out “what was going on.” Korey has since been released, and posted a video statement at the LooseChange blog.
Almost daily, we learn of more troops being prosecuted for various reasons relating to their resistance and speaking out against the war, including attempts to “re-discharge” them at less than honorable status after previously having been honorably discharged, courts martial, and detention. Many of these soldiers’ stories are being told by Courage To Resist , and this week’s newsletter from them included information about Korey Rowe. Iraq Veterans Against the War ( IVAW.org ) members have particularly come under harassment–they have a good section at the IVAW site on this.

Cheney Determined To Strike In US With WMD This Summer
Only Impeachment, Removal or General Strike Can Stop Him
By Webster G. Tarpley 7-21-7
“The greatest threat now is ‘a 9/11′ occurring with a group of terrorists armed not with airline tickets and box cutters, but with a nuclear weapon in the middle of one of our own cities.” — Dick Cheney on Face the Nation, CBS, April 15, 2007
A few days ago, a group of lawyers from western Massachusetts met with the local congressman, Democrat John Olver. Their request was that Olver take part in the urgent effort to impeach Bush and Cheney. Olver responded by saying that he had no intention of doing anything to support impeachment. He went further, offering the information that the United States would soon attack Iran, and that these hostilities would be followed by the imposition of a martial law regime here.
According to reports in the British press, the Cheney war party has gained the upper hand in the secret councils of the Bush White House, pushing aside the purported hesitations of Miss Rice, Secretary Gates, and the NATO allies to chart a direct course towards war with Iran:
‘The balance in the internal White House debate over Iran has shifted back in favour of military action before President George Bush leaves office in 18 months, the Guardian has learned. The shift follows an internal review involving the White House, the Pentagon and the state department over the last month. Although… Continue reading

What do Rep. John Conyers, D-Michigan, chair of the House Committee on the Judiciary, and President George W. Bush have in common? They both think they can dis Cindy Sheehan and count on gossip columnists like the Washington Post’s Dana Milbank to trivialize a historic moment.
I’ll give this to President Bush. He makes no pretence when he disses. He would not meet with Sheehan to define for her the “noble cause” for which her son Casey died or tell her why he had said it was “worth it.”
Conyers, on the other hand, was dripping with pretence as he met with Sheehan, Rev. Lennox Yearwood and me Monday in his office in the Rayburn building. I have seldom been so disappointed with someone I had previously held in high esteem. And before leaving, I told him so.
Throwing salt in our wounds, he had us, and some 50 others in his anteroom arrested and taken out of action as the Capitol Police “processed” us for the next six hours.
As we began our discussion with Conyers, it was as though he thought we were “born yesterday,” as Harry Truman would put it. With feigned enthusiasm he began, Let’s hold a Town Hall meeting in Detroit so we can talk about impeachment. Get out my schedule; let’s see, we need to hear from everyone about this.
Been there, done that, I… Continue reading
Editor’s comments, continued:
The partisan circus that spent $80 million+ to investigate and impeach Clinton (compare to the $3 million originally alloted to the 9/11 Commission mandated “to prepare a full and complete account of the circumstances surrounding the September 11, 2001 attacks”) for perjury, rather than pursuing his myriad other crimes, certainly cheapened the weighty Constitutional duty of impeachment. Elizabeth Holtzman, a member of the House Panel that impeached Richard Nixon, thoroughly discusses this in her excellent book, “The Impeachment of George W. Bush.” In her article, “Impeachment: The Case in Favor” published in the February, 2007 issue of “The Nation,” she states:
Our country’s Founders provided the power of impeachment to prevent the subversion of the Constitution. President Bush has subverted and defied the Constitution in many ways. His defiance and his subversion continue. (emphasis added)
“Failure to impeach Bush would condone his actions. It would allow him to assume he can simply continue to violate the laws on wiretapping and torture and violate other laws as well without fear of punishment. …
“There is no remedy short of impeachment to protect us from this President, whose ability to cause damage in the next two years is enormous. If we do not act against Bush, we send a terrible message of impunity to him and to future Presidents and mark a clear path to despotism and tyranny. Succeeding generations of Americans will never forgive us for lacking the nerve to protect our democracy.”
