Japan Questions 9/11 and the Global War on Terror

Testimony in the Japanese parliament, broadcast live on Japanese television in January 2008, challenged the premise and validity of the Global War on Terror. Parliament member Yukihisa Fujita insisted that an investigation be conducted into the war’s origin: the events of 9/11.

In a parliament Defense and Foreign Affairs Committee session held to debate the ethics of renewing Japan’s “anti-terror law,” which commits Japan to providing logistical support for coalition forces operating in Afghanistan, Fujita opened the session by stating, “I would like to talk about the origin of this war on terrorism, which was the attacks of 9/11, .…

We Are All Prisoners Now

December 27, 2007
By Paul Craig Roberts

"They’re locking them up today
They’re throwing away the key
I wonder who it’ll be tomorrow, you or me?"

The Red Telephone (LOVE, 1967)

At Christmas time it has been my habit to write a column in remembrance of
the many innocent people in prisons whose lives have been stolen by the US criminal
justice (sic) system that is as inhumane as it is indifferent to justice. Usually
I retell the cases of William Strong and Christophe Gaynor, two men framed in
the state of Virginia by prosecutors and judges as wicked and corrupt as any
who served Hitler or Stalin.…

Naomi Wolf Condemns Torture-Tapes Crimes

What is Probably in the Missing Tapes

By Naomi Wolf, Monday, December 13, 2007*

To judge from firsthand documents obtained by the ACLU through a FOIA lawsuit, we can guess what is probably on the missing CIA interrogation tapes — as well as understand why those implicated are spinning so hard to pretend the tapes do not document a series of evident crimes. According to the little-noticed but extraordinarily important book Administration of Torture: A Documentary Record from Washington to Abu Ghraib and Beyond (Jameel Jaffer and Amrit Singh, Columbia University Press, New York 2007), which presents dozens of original formerly secret documents – FBI emails and memos, letters and interrogator “wish lists,” raw proof of the systemic illegal torture of detainees in various US-held prisons — the typical “harsh interrogation” of a suspect in US custody reads like an account of abuses in archives at Yad Vashem.…

‘Goodbye to America’ and ‘Hegemony’s Cost’

by Paul Craig Roberts
November 28, 2007

Pat Buchanan is too patriotic to come right out and say it, but the message of his new book, “Day of Reckoning,” is that America as we have known her is finished. Moreover, Naomi Wolf agrees with him. These two writers of different political persuasions arrive at America’s demise from different directions.

Buchanan explains how hubris, ideology and greed have torn America apart. A neoconservative cabal with an alien agenda captured the Bush administration and committed American blood, energy and money to aggression against Muslim countries in the Middle East, while permitting America’s domestic borders to be overrun by immigrants and exporting the jobs that had made the United States an opportunity society.…

Moussaoui judge questions government

By MATTHEW BARAKAT, Associated Press Writer

November 20, 2007

A federal judge expressed frustration Tuesday that the government provided incorrect information about evidence in the prosecution of Sept. 11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui and raised the possibility of ordering a new trial in another high-profile terrorism case.

At a post-trial hearing Tuesday for Ali al-Timimi, a Muslim cleric from Virginia sentenced to life in prison in 2004 for soliciting treason, U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema said she can no longer trust the CIA and other government agencies on how they represent classified evidence in terror cases.…

The Fraudulent War on Terror

By PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS
October 27, 2007

Americans had best rethink the “war on terror” while they still have
the liberty to do so. For all of President Bush’s blah-blah talk about bringing
democracy to the world, the Bush administration has proved that it is no friend
of liberty at home.

The Bush administration has violated constitutional principles, US law, and
the Geneva Conventions as no previous administration has done. Here is a short
list of the Bush administration’s crimes:

Spying without court warrants on Americans in violation of both the US Constitution
and the FISA statute.…

National Lawyers Guild Unanimously Passes Resolution on Impeachment of Bush and Cheney

The National Lawyers Guild on Friday unanimously and enthusiastically passed a resolution supporting the impeachment of Bush and Cheney.

Editor’s Note:
At the National Lawyers Guild 70th Anniversary Law for the People Convention, being held October 31 – November 4 in Washington DC, the membership “unanimously and enthusiastically passed a resolution supporting the impeachment of Bush and Cheney.” While alleged crimes relating to 9/11/01 are inexplicably omitted from the points of this resolution, it is nonetheless an extremely significant undertaking, including powerful implementation resolutions to demand investigation, support and work with impeachment efforts, and encourage all other groups and citizens “to adopt similar resolutions and to use all their resources to build the campaign demanding that Congress initiate impeachment investigation, impeach, and remove Bush and Cheney from office without further delay.” We applaud the courage and strength of the National Lawyers Guild, and are grateful for their continuing work on behalf of all of us.…

9/11 and Other Optical Illusions

by Peter Zaza

There’s a wonderful optical illusion which involves a graphic of a ballerina spinning around on one leg. It’s called:

“The Spinning Silhouette Optical Illusion”

Image of a Spinning Silhouette Optical Illusion This illusion elucidates a very important principle concerning subjective reality, and helps to illustrate a point about the vastly differing views people can hold about events such as 9/11. Some people who look at the spinning figure will first affirm that she is bouncing on her left leg while twirling in a clockwise direction.…

9/11 and the Road Not Taken

by Brian Foley
September 11, 2007

JURIST Guest Columnist Brian J. Foley of Drexel University College of Law says that on the sixth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, we should remember that the US government has steadfastly refused to allow investigations that might locate individual blame for this massive security failure…

After major tragedies there are two investigative roads to take in trying to prevent a repeat: determining whether people or policies are to blame. Blaming people entails asking whether the disaster resulted from people failing to design or execute a proper preventive policy (“human error”).…

‘9/11 Truthers’ flip the bird at Bill Maher

‘9/11 Truthers’ flip the bird at Bill Maher

by Jason Rhyne

After being broadly denounced as “crazy people” by HBO’s sharp-tongued Bill Maher, some members of the so-called 9/11 Truth movement — a group convinced that US government accounts of the Sept. 11 tragedies do not fully explain the events of that day — decided to give Maher a taste of his own caustic medicine.

In a new video making its rounds on the internet, one band of miffed Los Angeles-based “Truthers” borrows the graphics, theme music and trademark bite of Maher’s popular “New Rules” segment to push back at the comedian’s charges that conspiracy theorists are lunatics.…

A View on 09/11/01–Rutgers Prof/Dean Questions Official Account of 9/11

R-N prof and dean, Dr. Barry R. Komisaruk brings up evidence surrounding 9/11,
questioning the official account
By: Dr. Barry R. Komisaruk
Posted: 9/11/07

Six years later, the impact is still felt. The implications are still more
troubling. My vivid recollections are the sudden silent disappearance from my
vantage point from Smith Hall on Warren Street of the towers, replaced by a
giant plume of white smoke, and my thought of the futility of the UMDNJ’s calling
and mobilizing all health care personnel; no person in the buildings could survive
the collapse.…

In honor of our veterans, we again call for truth

In honor of our veterans, we again call for truth

September 11, 2007
Opinion/Editorial piece by the Ashland Tidings

On this date six years ago, a stunned citizenry gave President Bush a blank check to seek and destroy anyone or any nation suspected of causing the attacks of Sept. 11. That day we were too busy mourning the loss of nearly 3,000 fellow Americans to notice something peculiar about three towers collapsing into their own footprints, a small hole being punched into the headquarters of the world’s most powerful military by a large passenger airliner, and four planes disintegrating, all due to 19 hijackers with box cutters.…

9/11 Explains the Impotence Of The Anti-war Movement

By Paul Craig Roberts

The anti-war movement has proven impotent to stop the war in Iraq despite the fact that the war was initiated on the basis of lies and deception. The anti-war movement stands helpless to prevent President Bush from attacking Iran or any other country that he might demonize for harboring a future 9/11 threat.

September 11 enabled Bush to take America to war and to keep America at war even though the government’s explanation of the events of September 11 is mired in controversy and disbelieved by a large percentage of the population.…

Statement of Solidarity from Argentine 9/11 Truth

Issued by 9/11 Truth of Argentina, September 9, 2007:

Citizens of the world, the lies about the terrorist attacks on the Pentagon
and the Twin Towers (9/11/01) are falling apart: Dublin, Madrid, Buenos Aires,
Rome, Paris, United States.

On September 11th, those of us who struggle for the truth will be honoring the
victims, in Buenos Aires, Dublin, Santiago de Chile, Caracas, Madrid, Paris,
Rome, Brussels and several places of the United States. Six years ago, Bush
swore that the terrorist had been Bin Laden, and the whole world except for
few believed him.…

World renowned scientist, Lynn Margulis, Ph.D., today severely criticized the official account of 9/11 and called for a new investigation, “I suggest that those of us aware and concerned demand that the glaringly erroneous official account of 9/11 be dismissed as a fraud and a new, thorough, and impartial investigation be undertaken.”

Robert Fisk–Even I question the ‘truth’ about 9/11

Even I question the ‘truth’ about 9/11

By Robert Fisk

Published: 25 August 2007

Each time I lecture abroad on the Middle East, there is always someone in the audience — just one — whom I call the “raver”. Apologies here to all the men and women who come to my talks with bright and pertinent questions — often quite humbling ones for me as a journalist — and which show that they understand the Middle East tragedy a lot better than the journalists who report it.…
