KSM Confesses

by John J. Albanese
March 15, 2007
www.crisisinamerica.org

I must profess embarrassment. After 5 years of 9/11 activism KSM’s confession
today has brought my world crashing down. After years of paranoid conspiracy
theories I must now accept the government’s word that this confession
is the genuine bona fide article – the final smoking gun behind 9/11.

It is therefore out of respect for our legal system that I will reproduce KSM’s
confession here:

I, Khalid Sheik Mohammed, being of sound mind and body, un-coerced by torture,
and fully enjoying the legal representation and due process afforded me under
the Constitution of the United States of America, hereby confess to the following
crimes associated with 9/11:

  • I confess that in the summer of 2001, I instituted the Visa Express Program
in Saudi Arabia which allowed terrorists to enter the United States without
even being interviewed by a consular officer. The Visa Express Program was
ONLY instituted in Saudi Arabia, and no such privileges were extended to other
US allies in Europe or the Middle East – ONLY Saudi Arabia, a country
known to have a large population of Muslim fundamentalists hostile to the
United States, and loyal to Osama Bin Laden.
  • I confess that when Consular representatives objected to this practice
I posed as Richard Armitage (a member of the Project for the New American
Century) and wrote a letter in his name defending the practice. Stating:
o "Unfortunately, the information we have received from Foreign Terrorist
Tracking Task Force so far has been insufficient to permit a consular officer
    to deny a visa.

9/11: The Case Isn’t Closed

By Sander Hicks

AlterNet Logo

In defense of the “9/11 truth movement.”

[Alternet] Editor’s note: The role of the alternative press is to offer perspectives that the commercial media won’t touch. Having run a number of articles critical of the “9/11 Truth Movement” by Matt Taibbi , Joshua Holland , Matthew Rothschild and others, we asked Sander Hicks, a prominent voice within the movement, to share his perspective. For more of Sanders’ views, see his book ” The Big Wedding: 9/11, The Whistle-Blowers, and the Cover-Up .”

Editor’s Note:
We should send (sober) letters of congratulations to Alternet for running Hick’s thoughtful piece. It shows how important it is to have a gamut of thinkers, all the way from die-hard MIHOPs to cautious LIHOPs, tunnelers and diplomats. Hicks is not only a valuable investigator, but a master bridge-builder.

No matter what you believe about who was responsible for 9/11, and how it went down, we’re all amazed at how much political capital the events of that day produced for this administration: A bipartisan consensus on torture; an era of permanent war; detentions without trial; “no fly” lists for activists; the Bill of Rights gone with the wind, and a cowed professional media willing to self-censor and suppress pertinent information. The 9/11 “America Attacked” story has distracted us from the natural outrage we should feel over illegal wiretaps, stolen elections, hundreds of billions of dollars missing at the Pentagon, war profiteering, Enron and Cheney’s secret energy policy.

But with Bush’s popularity… Continue reading

The 9/11 Commission: A Play on Nothing in Three Acts

by Sibel Edmonds & Bill Weaver
National Security Whistleblowers Coalition
Published in CommonDreams.org
September 5, 2006

A wag once famously said that Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot was a play where nothing happened . . . twice. The two former co-chairmen of the 9-11 commission report, Thomas Kean and Lee Hamilton, have released a new book, “Without Precedent: The Inside Story of the 9-11 Commission.” This book goes Beckett one better — it is the third act of veneer over substance, self-aggrandizement over serious analysis, and cliché over perspicacity. It is another calculated attempt by the former commissioners to place themselves in the media spotlight, and to overcome the humiliation of their widely criticized and mostly debunked report. It is a vapid and substanceless attempt to claim moral high ground and present the co-chairmen as heroes of honesty. It would be a farce, except that it has no story line, save the aggrandizement of the authors. At least they are consistent in doing nothing and proclaiming that to be a sign of their devotion to the country and the government. Beckett once said that “habit is the ballast that chains the dog to its vomit,” and by this measure the chain restraining Kean and Hamilton is a short one indeed.

Editor’s Note:
The truly heroic founders of the National Security Whistleblowers Coalition commemorate the fifth year of 9/11 lies and subterfuge with a scathing indictment of the cover-up and its shameless perpetrators. When we finally do get a 9/11 investigation worth the name, they give us a list of 13 authoritative but ignored witnesses who can swiftly put the official story myth out of its and our collective misery.…

THE TOP 40 Reasons to Doubt the Official Story

THE TOP 40

REASONS TO DOUBT THE OFFICIAL STORY OF SEPTEMBER 11th, 2001

… An outline in simple talking points …

We are continuing to compile the best documentation links for every single point on this page, and intend to post the updated version as soon as possible, and create teaching tools and more from the info. This is a significant and time-consuming process–if you have useful links, please send them to janice[at]911truth[dot]org. Thanks for your help!
If you use the search function with title key words, you will discover that 911Truth.org is home to articles backing virtually every point made below. Much of the basic research is available at the Complete 9/11 Timeline (hosted by cooperativeresearch.org), the 9/11 Reading Room (911readingroom.org), and the NY Attorney General Spitzer petition and complaint (Justicefor911.org). For physical evidence discussion, see Point 7.

THE DAY ITSELF – EVIDENCE OF COMPLICITY

1) AWOL Chain of Command
a. It is well documented that the officials topping the chain of command for response to a domestic attack – George W. Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, Richard Myers, Montague Winfield, Ralph Eberhart – all found reason to do something else during the actual attacks, other than assuming their duties as decision-makers.
b. Who was actually in charge? Dick Cheney, Richard Clarke, Norman Mineta and the 9/11 Commission directly conflict in their accounts of top-level response to the unfolding events, such that several (or all) of them must be lying.… Continue reading

Spitzer On the Spot

March 23, 2006

by Les Jamieson

9/11 Truth activists have been showing up in Eliot Spitzer’s path lately. On
Sunday, March 11th, three activists attended a swanky public reception for Eliot
Spitzer and supporters of his candidacy for governor. Sander Hicks, author of
The Big Wedding and a candidate for US Senate, Green party of New York, stood up and popped the question “Mr. Spitzer,
why have you not opened an independent investigation into the events of September
11, 2001?” Many clueless Dems in the crowd got very agitated, but Sander
persisted. Spitzer got off the hook by saying Sander should respect the crowd’s
wishes and told him to call his office. He did and as of today calls were never
returned.

What’s the real issue here? In November of 2004, an independent inquiry into
the events of 9/11 entitled “Citizens’
Complaint & Petition
” was submitted to Eliot Spitzer’s office. This
document contained great detail about the glaring questions still unanswered
and listed damages suffered by so many people. There were 100 signatures from
prominent Americans such as Howard Zinn, Daniel Ellsberg, Ralph Nader, John
Gray, Ray McGovern, Medea Benjamin, and Ed Asner. The Complaint also had 48
victims’ families as signatories. Spitzer’s top prosecutor, William Casey, personally
received the
document. However, this has been met with a deafening silence. No action was
ever taken.

How could it be that Spitzer, who has won accolades for his successful legal
actions against Wall St. financial institutions engaging in fraud,… Continue reading

LOCATION: 120 Broadway (south of Fulton St. – The building belongs to Silverstein Properties!)

ADDITIONAL ACTIONS:

4 pm demonstration at Wall St. & Broadway to engage the financial district

In November of 2004, an independent inquiry into the events of 9/11 titled Citizens Complaint & Petition was submitted to Eliot Spitzer?s office. His deputy, William Casey, personally received it. In public events Mr. Spitzer was asked for a response to this Complaint, which he acknowledged knowing about. To this day there has been no response.

Now earlier this month, in special Congressional hearings on Able Danger we see more cause for suspicion. Able Danger was a Pentagon terrorist tracking operation. News broke last summer with whistleblowers reporting they knew about Mohamed Atta in early 2000, but experienced suppression of their testimony by the 9/11 Commission. Here is another scenario where Eliot Spitzer?s behavior raises more red flags which should outrage all Americans. He barred his top aide, Deputy Attorney General Dietrich Snell, from testifying at these hearings which occurred after 248 Congresspersons petitioned the Pentagon.

In the 2004 book by five-time Emmy award-winning journalist Peter Lance called Cover Up: What the Government is Still Hiding About the War on Terror, he makes a damning statement about Dietrich Snell. “Under… Continue reading

‘Mystery Woman’ Told Military of Atta Long Before Sept. 11

Despite Pentagon stonewalling and intimidation of whistleblowers, the story that a hardline Republican congressman says is “bigger than Watergate” refuses to go away.

Five former operatives of a US military intelligence project say they identified Mohamed Atta and three other men later alleged to have been the lead 9/11 hijackers as suspected al Qaeda terrorists working in the United States more than a year before September 11, 2001. The five whistleblowers say their superiors at the US Special Operations Command chose to suppress the information and keep it from law enforcement authorities, thus protecting Atta and Co. – at the very least in effect, if not as a matter of intent. They were forced to destroy their data on Atta; and their program, Able Danger, was killed by the Bush administration prior to September 11.

Years after the destruction of the World Trade Center, they told their story to the 9/11 Commission, only to be soundly ignored. When they finally came forward as whistleblowers last year, they were placed under gag orders by the Pentagon. The most prominent of them, Col. Anthony Shaffer, was investigated on charges that he stole pens and overcharged the Defense Department for $67 in phone calls. He claims the investigation of him to date has cost the taxpayers $2 million.

That, at any rate, is the Able Danger saga as we know it so far.

In the latest wrinkle, blog reporter Rory O’Connor (Mar 1, archived below) says a Pentagon inspector general’s investigation has identified… Continue reading

ABLE DANGER and the 9/11 Whitewash

by reprehensor

Source: DailyKos

On Wednesday, February 15th, 2006, LTC Anthony Shaffer submitted an amazing written statement detailing his involvement with ABLE DANGER to Congress. You can download a PDF of the statement here , and I have made an HTML version here . For those people who are new to the ABLE DANGER (AD), story, I can’t think of a better starting point.

The idea was to take the ‘best and brightest’ military operators, intelligence officers, technicians and planners from the Special Operations Command (SOCOM), the U.S. Army and the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), in an entrepreneurial endeavor, much like bringing the best minds and capabilities from Ford Motor Company, General Motors and Daimler-Chrysler to focus on a single challenge. In the case of ABLE DANGER, the challenge was to discover the global ‘body’ of Al Qaeda – then, with this knowledge, prepare military and intelligence “options” that would be supported by the “actionable information” that was being produced by the project. – Prepared Statement Of LTC Shaffer, 2/15/06.

That was the idea.

reprehensor’s diary :: :: And they had successes. Most notoriously identifying a threat in Yemen that may have saved lives in the USS Cole bombing, and identifying Mohammed Atta prior to 9/11; this once again reiterated in the February 15th Congressional hearing by a contractor, James D. Smith, who worked at Orion Scientific Systems in Viginia;

During the Orion support (on or about 25 October 1999 to 04 August 2000), James Smith delivered multiple… Continue reading

Interview with Sander Hicks: 9/11 Author, Candidate For NY Governor

Sander Hicks, Green Party Candidate for New York Governor, is the author of The Big Wedding: 9/11, The Whistle-Blowers, and The Cover-Up.

He recently appeared on the Majority Report with Janeane Garafolo, available

.

Website: www.hicksforgovernor.com.

1) What was it about 9/11 that prompted you to question the official story, and when?

Well, it wasn’t that hard. I was already friendly with Ruppert and Hopsicker, we all knew each other from anti-Bush underground publishing circles. None of us had written books yet, though. So I read everything they wrote for the internet, before they published books.

But in terms of that a-ha, snapping of the mental membrane kind of moment, it was probably Barrie Zwicker’s TV show in Canada. Which is also one of the first times I downloaded a video file from the net. Funny how web-based video started to really happen right around the same time as our movement. Maybe historians will 100 years from now explain that this is how the 9/11 Truth Movement took power and changed things: the technology just fell into their hands at the right time.

2) In your book, The Big Wedding: 9/11, The Whistle-Blowers, & The Cover-Up, you focus on the people who have come forward with something to say about 9/11. As you know, Eliot Spitzer recently blocked Dietrich Snell from testifying at the Able Danger hearings brought forward by Rep. Curt Weldon. What are your feelings regarding Eliot Spitzer’s actions?

It’s a great opportunity for… Continue reading

Email from Rep. Weldon: “Thank you for taking the time over the past few months to contact me regarding the Able Danger – a Department of Defense planning effort prior to 9/11 tasked to identify and target the linkages and relationships of Al-Qaeda worldwide. Your voice has played a crucial role in getting 248 Members of Congress to ask for Congressional Hearings. I wanted to update you about the progress that has been made on Able Danger with your help.

“First, I would like to thank the House Armed Services Committee Chairman Duncan Hunter for his leadership in pursuing Able Danger hearings, as well as Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England for his support on behalf of the Pentagon.

“Following a long congressional recess where staff was busy preparing for this hearing, I am pleased to announce that on Wednesday, 15 February 2006 at 2:30 p.m. in 2118 Rayburn House Office Building, the House Armed Services Strategic Forces and Terrorism, Unconventional Threats and Capabilities Subcommittees have tentatively scheduled a joint hearing for open and closed testimony on the Able Danger effort. Witnesses have not yet been scheduled as interviews are ongoing. A complete list of witnesses should be available by close of business on Monday, February 13, 2006.

“Thank you for your ongoing interest. I would ask that you communicate with your Member of Congress and express how important Able Danger hearings are and thank them… Continue reading

The King’s Red Herring

by Kristen Breitweiser

Huffingtonpost.com
December 19, 2005

Recently, President Bush has admitted to carrying out surveillance on U.S. citizens in the interest of national security. He unabashedly admits to doing it. He offers no apologies. With his bellicose swagger, he once again uses 9/11 as his justification for breaking our constitutional laws. The President’s justification of 9/11 to carry out such surveillance begs a closer examination.

President Bush should be stopped in his tracks with regard to his use of 9/11 scare tactics to circumvent constitutional laws that are meant to protect U.S. citizens. His justification for doing so — the inability to conduct surveillance on the 9/11 hijackers — is a red herring. History will bear out the truth — our intelligence agencies held a treasure trove of intelligence on the 9/11 hijackers, intelligence that was gathered through their initially unencumbered surveillance. President Bush should busy himself by investigating why that information was then stymied and not capitalized upon to stop the 9/11 attacks.

MOUSSAOUI, FISA, and FBI SURVEILLANCE — MISUNDERSTANDING #1:

When it comes to the FBI and Zaccarias Moussaoui, one must understand that the FBI met all evidentiary standards to both apply for and be granted a FISA warrant. The information the FBI had to support their FISA request was two files on Moussaoui that were given to the FBI by the French and British intelligence services. Inexplicably, FBI lawyers and supervisors at FBI HQ “misunderstood” the evidentiary standards needed to apply for and receive a FISA… Continue reading

Weldon to Get His Chance to Prove 9/11 Accusations

Posted By Jon Gold

9/11 Action Alert!

In a recent interview on Lou Dobbs Tonight, Representative Curt Weldon made the following statement:

We’ve received assurances that the hearings will go forward.

But the other thing that we have to look at, Lou, and you have had another guest on your show recently, why did the 9/11 Commission pick 1996 and not go back beyond that? There is some very interesting material that needs to be tied in. The ’93 attack on the Trade Center. The blind Sheik’s trial. None of that was looked at by the 9/11 Commission, and the American people need to ask the question why.

We will be asking that question during the Able Danger hearings.”

It will be interesting to see what information Rep. Weldon is referring to. Given the fact that there are many similarities between the ’93 bombing and 9/11, one can only hope he is referring to the truth in its entirety.

In October 1993, in an article entitled, “Tapes Depict Proposal to Thwart Bomb Used in Trade Center Blast” the New York Times reported that, “Law-enforcement officials were told that terrorists were building a bomb that was eventually used to blow up the World Trade Center, and they planned to thwart the plotters by secretly substituting harmless powder for the explosives, an informer said after the blast.”

“The informer was to have helped the plotters build the bomb and supply the fake powder, but the plan was called off by… Continue reading

An Incomplete Investigation

by Louis Freeh, Former FBI Director

Published at The OpinionJournal at WSJ.com, Thursday, November 17

It was interesting to hear from the 9/11 Commission again on Tuesday. This self-perpetuating and privately funded group of lobbyists and lawyers has recently opined on hurricanes, nuclear weapons, the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel and even the New York subway system. Now it offers yet another “report card” on the progress of the FBI and CIA in the war against terrorism, along with its “back-seat” take and some further unsolicited narrative about how things ought to be on the “front lines.”

Yet this is also a good time for the country to make some assessments of the 9/11 Commission itself. Recent revelations from the military intelligence operation code-named “Able Danger” have cast light on a missed opportunity that could have potentially prevented 9/11. Specifically, Able Danger concluded in February 2000 that military experts had identified Mohamed Atta by name (and maybe photograph) as an al Qaeda agent operating in the U.S. Subsequently, military officers assigned to Able Danger were prevented from sharing this critical information with FBI agents, even though appointments had been made to do so. Why?

There are other questions that need answers. Was Able Danger intelligence provided to the 9/11 Commission prior to the finalization of its report, and, if so, why was it not explored? In sum, what did the 9/11 commissioners and their staff know about Able Danger and when did they know it?

The Able Danger intelligence, if confirmed, is undoubtedly the most relevant fact of the entire post-9/11 inquiry.…

“Able Danger” & 9/11 Foreknowledge

Source: www.thenewamerican.com

by William F. Jasper

The ongoing coverup concerning the secret Able Danger operation provides further evidence that the “war on terror” is a farce.

There was nothing in outward appearance to draw attention to the four-bedroom apartment at 54 Marienstrasse. Nonetheless, the attention of the intelligence services of Germany, the U.S., Israel, and other Middle Eastern and European countries had been drawn to the nondescript flat in Hamburg, Germany, as early as 1998. That was when Mohammed Atta signed the lease and he and Ramzi bin al Shibh moved in. Soon thereafter, it was identified by intelligence agencies as a target of interest. It became known as the hub of al-Qaeda’s “Hamburg Cell.”

Over the next two and a half years, dozens of al-Qaeda operatives, including Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the reputed 9/11 “mastermind,” passed through the 54 Marienstrasse apartment. Twenty-nine al-Qaeda recruits from the Middle East or Northern Africa listed it as their registered address. Mohammed Atta would later be labeled, after the fact, as the “ringleader” of the 9/11 terrorists who hijacked four jetliners to use as missiles against targets in New York City and Washington, D.C. Atta is believed to have been the suicide pilot who flew American Airlines Flight 11 into the north tower of the World Trade Center. His Hamburg roommate, Ramzi bin al Shibh, captured in Pakistan in 2002, has been described by U.S. officials as the al-Qaeda “coordinator and paymaster” for 9/11. In the months leading up to the terrorist attacks of… Continue reading

Weldon Calls for Criminal Investigation

We have transcribed a brief portion of those comments, which follow:

Thanks for coming out today. Reluctantly, I stand to provide further info on the Able Danger situation.

When I first started this effort back in June, when the full Able Danger story came to my attention, I said it could be anything from gross incompentence to a coverup bigger than Watergate.

I, today, will tell you after months of looking at this issue that there is a coverup that’s taken place and continues to take place, and therefore I am asking for a criminal investigation as of this date.

I just finished an hour and a half meeting with the Inspector General at the Department of Defense; four employees went into extensive briefings and they advised me there had been two other requests, besides mine, of their office, including a request from the Senate and the other a request from the House.

So there are three separate requests for an Inspector General investigation specifically on Able Danger, and the deliberate persecution, intimidation and the ruining of Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer’s career. It is absolutely outrageous what’s occurred, because an Army Lt Col, a Bronze Star recipient, has been punished and had his career ruined for telling the truth.

The handling of Tony by the Defense Intelligence Agency is an abomination. The Agency needs to be held accountable. They… Continue reading

House Panel Hears Call to Support New Intelligence Office

Source:
www.govexec.com

By Greta Wodele, CongressDaily

The Bush administration and Congress must provide more resources to a new office charged with making it easier for federal officials to share intelligence information with state and local officials, the House Homeland Security Intelligence Subcommittee was told Tuesday.

“Congress has authorized, but not yet appropriated, funding for the [information-sharing] program manager’s office,” said former Rep. Lee Hamilton, D-Ind., who served as the vice chairman of the 9/11 Commission.

Hamilton, along with William Crowell, a member of the Markle Task Force on National Security in the Information Age, said lawmakers and the White House need to empower the office with more, dedicated resources.

Their comments followed testimony from John Russack, the newly appointed information sharing program manager, before the subcommittee.

Russack told the panel that National Intelligence Director John Negroponte had given his office $9.6 million in fiscal 2005 funding to set up shop, but that Congress did not designate a specific 2006 funding level for his office, which did not get its own line in the intelligence budget.

Russack estimated that his office needs $30 million a year to facilitate information sharing. “I have a feeling I will get at least $20 million,” said Russack about his 2006 allocation.

Congress created the posts held… Continue reading

The story by Newsday Staff Writer Patricia Hurtado had already appeared on the newsday.com website. But we later discovered that the editors kept it out of the newspaper itself. (That applies to the Long Island Saturday and “Early… Continue reading

Able Danger Update

Senators Accuse Pentagon of Obstructing Inquiry on Sept. 11 Plot
By DOUGLAS JEHL
September 22, 2005

WASHINGTON, Sept. 21 – Senators from both parties accused the Defense Department on Wednesday of obstructing an investigation into whether a highly classified intelligence program known as Able Danger did indeed identify Mohamed Atta and other future hijackers as potential threats well before the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

The complaints came after the Pentagon blocked several witnesses from testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee at a public hearing on Wednesday. The only testimony provided by the Defense Department came from a senior official who would say only that he did not know whether the claims were true.

But members of the panel, led by Senator Arlen Specter, Republican of Pennsylvania, said they regarded as credible assertions by current and former officers in the program. The officers have said they were prevented by the Pentagon from sharing information about Mr. Atta and others with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

A Pentagon spokesman had said the decision to limit testimony was based on concerns about disclosing classified information, but Senator Charles E. Grassley, Republican of Iowa, said he believed the reason was a concern “that they’ll just have egg on their face.”

Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr., Democrat of Delaware, accused the Pentagon of “a cover-up” and said, “I don’t get why people aren’t coming forward and saying, ‘Here’s the deal, here’s what happened.’ “

The Pentagon has acknowledged that at least five members… Continue reading
