“In the United States of America there is a hidden government about which you know nothing.”
So begins a revealing television exposeé aired by CNN in 1991. The hour-long Special Assignment presented the findings of a yearlong CNN investigation into the ultra-secretive Continuity of Government (COG) program, commonly referred to as the “doomsday government” or the “shadow government”.
The COG program was originally designed in the 1950s to ensure the survival of the federal government in the event of a nuclear attack. The highly secretive emergency plans were substantially upgraded during the 1980s and have become a focus point of the current administration, particularly since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
The COG program, which until recent years was believed to be reserved for nuclear disasters, was officially activated for the first time during the 9/11 attacks. The program, according to the most recent reports, was never completely shut down. Portions of the “shadow government” are presumably still operating to this day.
Recent efforts to reform and expand the emergency protocols, according to the best available reports, have been led by Vice President Dick Cheney, who played a major role in the COG program during the Reagan Administration.
The underground program is historically run out of the office of the Vice President through a clandestine agency, identified by CNN as the National Program Office (NPO).
In 1991, CNN found the Continuity of Government program and National Program Office to be rife with waste, fraud, and abuse.…Continue reading
Wide-ranging conspiracies do take place, whether you or I, or Charlie Brooker,
are inclined to believe it or not
July 17, 2008
Guardian “Comment is Free”
Earlier this week Charlie Brooker generated the largest number of online responses
to an article in the history of Comment is free. His theme was conspiracy theory
in general and the 9/11 conspiracy theories in particular — and it collected
more than 1,700 comments. Brooker thinks conspiracy theories console those who
find reality too dull and complicated without the garnish of a hidden agenda:
“Embrace a conspiracy theory and suddenly you’re part of a gang sharing
privileged information; your sense of power and dignity rises a smidgeon and
this troublesome world makes more sense, for a time.”
Brooker’s line belongs to a mini-genre of attempts to explain the public’s
willingness to entertain conspiracy theories in psychological terms. Indeed
he is very close to that stern rationalist Melanie Phillips, who has decided
that, in the absence of religion, conspiracy theories satisfy “our desperate
need to make order out of chaos”.
The conspiratorial world view does have its consolations. But so does Brooker’s.
There’s a certain pleasure and drama in declaring that the world is driven by
incompetence and error, and that things are more or less as they seem. You can
preen yourself on how well-adjusted you are, how you haven’t fallen for that
stuff about lizards, or Illuminati. You have learned to live without magic.
You’re saying “I don’t believe in… Continue reading

A year ago, I announced in this forum the launching of my survey for a book
that would compile personal accounts of ordinary people active in the 9/11 truth
movement. Since then, I’ve been gathering dozens of revealing, often moving
stories from inside and outside the U.S., and I’ve begun to put a shape
to Voices for 9/11 Truth. Along the way, I’ve come to believe that what
we call the 9/11 truth movement is not really a movement per se. It’s
something else, something potentially more important, more meaningful, and maybe
even more impactful.
First, the obvious: we’re not exactly a homogenous group. Yes, there
is a shared commitment to prompt a thorough and impartial 9/11 investigation
and unravel the sinister mess behind the crime and cover-up, but we’re
not linked by bloodlines, gender, age, economic status, or any other common
entity. We’re no clearly defined, pre-established group seeking a platform
to gain rights or power — and anyway, we’d be hard pressed to put together
a thousand members for a rally, let alone hundreds of thousands. In fact, what
I’ve been most struck by in fielding these personal accounts and interacting
with the gutsy people behind them is the wide diversity of those who believe
that 9/11 was orchestrated from within our government.
That diversity should strengthen the sense of real community among 9/11 truthers
while further dispelling the government and corporate media’s ridiculous
attempts to marginalize and… Continue reading

For almost a year and a half I have been in the loop on a most fantastic story involving the Herculean investigative reporting of Chris Emery, Holland Van den Nieuwenhof and crew from www.okcbombing.net
As hard as it was, I kept quiet and off the record, as the team investigated an angle of the 911 terrorist attack of 2001 which had Mohamed Atta (pictured right) and five of his alleged hijackers in Oklahoma City just days before 911, drunk, boisterous and brawling — Not a Koran, or prayer rug in site.
Last week – July 2008, they had reached the end of their investigation, and impenetrable walls of resistance prohibited them from going any further. Last Friday July 19th 2008 the Emery team decided to go public on my syndicated radio show, DEADLINE LIVE w/ Jack Blood. The result of which has sent shockwaves throughout the 911 truth community.
For the safety of all involved, the witnesses wish to remain anonymous until such time they can be guaranteed protection. All of the witnesses have given signed affidavits to Chris Emery. Documentation of the facts and evidence has been tucked away in safe houses in the USA and Canada. The evidence will later be released to Network Media, and the proper authorities.
The story started as the team was continuing their exhaustive research into the OKC Bombings of 1995. Almost accidentally they ran into witness after witness wanting to report that… Continue reading

Newsweek’s Katie Paul interviewed Green Presidential Candidate Cynthia McKinney, now published at Newsweek.com
A clip and one particular question is posted here. Read the full story at Newsweek.com
Controversy has always been Cynthia McKinney’s trademark. This election season, she may have finally found her perfect political home. Last weekend, the 53-year-old former Georgia congresswoman clinched the Green Party’s presidential nomination; 35-year-old hip-hop activist and activist Rosa Clemente will be her running mate.
A firebrand politician best known for her impolitic statements during her more than 20 years in public life, McKinney has had a mixed electoral record as a Democrat in her district in recent years. After 10 years in office, she was upset in 2002 by fellow Democrat Denise Majette, re-elected in 2004, and ousted again in 2006 by the 4th District’s current Democratic congressman, Rep. Hank Johnson. Most commentators point to her altercation with a U.S. Capitol police officer and her accusations that the Bush administration covered up its role in the 9/11 attacks to explain the losses, but McKinney cites voting irregularities like those highlighted in “American Blackout,” a 2006 documentary that focuses on her career.
Paul: If you were to be elected, what would be item number one on the McKinney agenda?
McKinney: Is it OK if I do several things simultaneously [laughs]? First of all, we have to instruct the Joint… Continue reading
We are putting out a request for any of you who may know more about the following hearing to please contact us. It’s quite important.
On approximately March 11-12, 2003 a hearing was held for which we’re trying to find video or a transcript. The info is a little sketchy, but here’s what we have that’s pretty solid: It was at one point broadcast on CSpan (no, I can’t find it in their archives now); was chaired/participated in by Senator Max Baucus; Michael Chertoff was present; apparently the Army spokesperson at the hearing represented that 17 soldiers verified Mohammed Atta was never present in the United States prior to 9/11; at one point during the two-day hearing, this frustrated Senator (Baucus?) said, essentially, “I know what the other 17 soldiers have said. Where’s the 18th soldier who was supposed to testify? I want to hear what he has to report. Why can’t he be found?” in reference to a military intelligence unit, possibly led by Stephen Reed.
What we don’t have is: What committee chaired the hearings, the specific focus or title of the hearings, location of a video or transcript, role Michael Chertoff played in the hearing. If any of you recall seeing that on CSpan, or have any other info about it that could help us find it, please email janice (at) 911truth.org. Even details of your “vague recollection” would be helpful. Thanks so much!

After over a year of investigations, my sources are ready to speak out publicly on one on of the most important Sept 11th puzzle pieces ever to come my way.
It seems that Mohamed Atta and at least 4 other 911 (alleged) hijackers were in Oklahoma City just before 9.11.2001.
My sources accidentally ran into several witnesses while investigating leads in the OKC Bombing case.
What did they find?
According to eyewitnesses (none of whom knew each other) Atta and the boys were in OKC just 3 days before 911.
ONE OF THEM, TWO WEEKS AFTER 911!
My sources (who will remain nameless until today’s radio broadcast) also have credit card receipts from an Atta and crew drinking session at a local OKC bar, where they nearly got in a brawl with 2 other patrons.
The CC numbers used by Atta seem to show that the Cards were GOVERNMENT AUTHORIZED!
This could be the most damning evidence to date that the alleged hijackers of 911 were indeed intelligence assets and NOT “terrorists”
It gets better….

LATE BREAKING NEWS – OKC / 911 PERPS
From Chris Emery:
By Peter Phillips
July 18, 2008
The United States is directly responsible for over one million Iraqi deaths since the invasion five and half years ago. In a January 2008 report, a British polling group Opinion Research Business (ORB) reports that, “survey work confirms our earlier estimate that over 1,000,000 Iraqi citizens have died as a result of the conflict which started in 2003…. We now estimate that the death toll between March 2003 and August 2007 is likely to have been of the order of 1,033,000. If one takes into account the margin of error associated with survey data of this nature then the estimated range is between 946,000 and 1,120,000”.
The ORB report comes on the heels of two earlier studies conducted by Johns Hopkins University published in the Lancet medical journal that confirmed the continuing numbers of mass deaths in Iraq. A study done by Dr. Les Roberts from January 1, 2002 to March 18 2003 put the civilian deaths at that time at over 100,000. A second study published in the Lancet in October 2006 documented over 650,000 civilian deaths in Iraq since the start of the US invasion. The 2006 study confirms that US aerial bombing in civilian neighborhoods caused over a third of these deaths and that over half the deaths are directly attributable to US forces.
The now estimated 1.2 million dead, as of July 2008, includes children, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, cab drivers, clerics, schoolteachers, factory workers, policemen, poets, healthcare workers, day care… Continue reading
Israel Planning a September/October Surprise?
By Ray McGovern
International Clearing House — You say you expected more rhetoric than reality from Senators Obama and McCain yesterday in their speeches on Iraq and Afghanistan? Well, that’s certainly what you got.
What I find nonetheless amazing is how they, and the pundits, have taken such little notice of the dramatic change in the political landscape occasioned by Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s bombshell on July 7 — his insistence on a “timetable” for withdrawal of US troops before any accord is reached on their staying past the turn of the year.
Responding to a question at his press conference yesterday, President George W. Bush showed that he was vaguely aware that the timetable is, as Robert Dreyfuss says (in Truthout, July 7), a “big deal.” Bush even alluded haltingly to the possibility of extending the UN mandate still further.
But it is far from clear that Maliki, who is under great domestic pressure, would be able to sell that to the various factions upon which he depends for support, much less to those which he must keep at bay. As Dreyfuss points out, Maliki and his Shiite allies are also under considerable pressure from Iran, which remains the chief ally of the ruling alliance of Shiites. Most important, Maliki is by no means in control of what happens next.
Here’s where it gets sticky. No one who knows about third rails in US politics would expect the candidates or the fawning corporate media (FCM) to address how those now running Israel are likely to be looking at the implications of a large US troop withdrawal from Iraq next year.…Continue reading
The Final Mystery Of 9/11?
(A video response by Jon Gold to the BBC’s latest episode of “Conspiracy Files,” which purports to lay to rest the “mystery of 9/11.” Uhm… they failed, by the way.)
What the BBC producers probably should have watched before putting out this silly recent piece … a BBC production by Adam Curtis, from several years ago, The Power of Nightmares: The Rise of the Politics of Fear. We encourage everyone to watch this video, and share it with others, as its historical presentation is quite valuable regarding the background of players involved with our current “War of Terror.”
Description from InternetArchive.org:
This film explores the origins in the 1940s and 50s of Islamic Fundamentalism in the Middle East, and Neoconservatism in America, parallels between these movements, and their effect on the world today. From the introduction to Part 1:
“Both [the Islamists and Neoconservatives] were idealists who were born out of the failure of the liberal dream to build a better world. And both had a very similar explanation for what caused that failure. These two groups have changed the world, but not in the way that either intended. Together, they created today’s nightmare vision of a secret, organized evil that threatens the world. A fantasy that politicians then found restored their power and authority in a disillusioned age. And those with the darkest fears became the most powerful.”

It’s been almost seven years since — in the weeks immediately following 9/11 — anthrax powder sent through the mail killed five people, threatened the lives of two Democratic senators, terrorized the entire nation, and helped prod a panicky Congress into passing the so-called Patriot Act.
In the intervening years, not only has the killer remained free, but missteps in the investigation have had major negative consequences. Just last month, in fact, the Department of Justice agreed to pay $4.6 million to former bioweapons expert Stephen Hatfill to settle a lawsuit Hatfill brought against the Justice Department, the FBI, and former Attorney General John Ashcroft for destroying his reputation and career by publicly implicating him in the case. And Glenn Greenwald has pointed out that in 2001, ABC News was fed false information by several “well-placed sources” (presumably officials in the Bush administration) suggesting an Iraq-anthrax link. That imaginary link was widely cited by pro-war cheerleaders.
At Monday’s White House briefing, I asked if President Bush was satisfied with the progress of the investigation into the attacks. Press Secretary Dana Perino told me that she didn’t even “know if he has had an update on it.”
Here is our exchange:
Q Is the president satisfied with the progress of the investigation into the anthrax attacks?
MS. PERINO: I don’t know if he has had an update on it. But obviously this is something that the FBI is doing. We don’t do the investigation… Continue reading

National Public Radio has been spending much news time on Darfur in Western Sudan where a great deal of human suffering and death are occurring. The military conflict has been brought on in part by climate change, according to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. Drought is forcing nomads in search of water into areas occupied by other claimants. No doubt the conflict is tribal and racial as well. The entire catastrophe is overseen by a government with few resources other than bullets.
Now an International Criminal Court prosecutor wants to bring charges against Sudan’s president, Omar al-Bashir, for crimes against humanity and war crimes.
I have no sympathy for people who make others suffer. Nevertheless, I wonder at the International Criminal Court’s pick from the assortment of war criminals? Why al-Bashir?
Is it because Sudan is a powerless state, and the International Criminal Court hasn’t the courage to name George W. Bush and Tony Blair as war criminals?
Bush and Blair’s crimes against humanity in Iraq and Afghanistan dwarf, at least in the number of deaths and displaced persons, the terrible situation in Darfur. The highest estimate of Darfur casualties is 400,000, one-third the number of Iraqis who have died as a result of Bush’s invasion. Moreover, the conflict in the Sudan is an internal one, whereas Bush illegally invaded two foreign countries, war crimes under the Nuremberg Standard. Bush’s war crimes were enabled by the political leaders of the UK, Spain, Canada,… Continue reading

Indefinite military detentions of persons apprehended within the United States
are legal, according to a Tuesday federal appeals court decision. (Read text
of decision.) However, a concurrent decision allows detainee Ali al-Marri (pictured)
to challenge his detention in court.
President Bush has the legal power to order the indefinite military detentions
of civilians captured in the United States, the federal appeals court in Richmond,
Va., ruled on Tuesday in a fractured 5-to-4 decision.
But a second, overlapping 5-to-4 majority of the court, the United States
Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, ruled that Ali al-Marri, a citizen
of Qatar now in military custody in Charleston, S.C., must be given an additional
opportunity to challenge his detention in federal court there. An earlier court
proceeding, in which the government had presented only a sworn statement from
a defense intelligence official, was inadequate, the second majority ruled.
The decision was a victory for the Bush administration, which had maintained

The court effectively reversed a divided three-judge panel of its own members,
which ruled last year that the government lacked the power to detain civilians
legally in the United States as enemy combatants. That panel ordered the government
either to charge Mr. Marri or to release him. The case is likely to reach… Continue reading

A political billboard in St. Cloud, Florida reads “Please Don’t Vote for
a Democrat” over an image of the burning World Trade Center.
Businessman Mike Meehan, who paid for the ad, says he’s "only trying to
help Republicans." The billboard also carries a link for Meehan’s website,
TheRepublicanSong.com, at which he says, “I claim to be a man of God”
and promotes his political song and video.
Meehan’s song, which appears to have racist overtones, begins, “The Democrat
secular progressive move, political correctness is killing us too. They want
to take the money from the hard working man, and give it to the lazy folks that
don’t give a damn.”
Even Republicans have found the billboard “inappropriate,” and many
residents want it to come down. “I’m thinking about the Twin Towers, all
the families that were killed there,” one woman told local TV affiliate
Another local was more accepting, saying, “They can have their opinion.
It’s a free country, you want to pay for the ad.”
However, the posters at right-wing site Lucianne.com were enthusiastic about the billboard. “Why isn’t Mike Meehan the Republican presidential candidate?”
asked one. “Liberals get abjectly hysterical whenever the truth about them
is pointed out,” wrote another. “People who refer to the terrorist
attack as a tragedy are morons,” added a third.
The company which owns the billboard says it’s a free speech issue and has
no plans to take Meehan’s ad down before… Continue reading
The July issue of the Creek (View

Since the very first issue, the Creek has covered the stories the
corporate press won’t touch: Torture, 9/11 Cover-up, Election Fraud, Vaccine
Scams, The erosion of our Constitutional rights, and many more. With your help
we will continue to provide the historical context and political analysis of
the news that can’t be found in any other publication. And we put it in print
on the streets in the Capitol City, where it counts.
The Creek continues to grow in both distribution strength and breath
of coverage. In addition to the thousands of copies that go to 9/11truth groups
and others across the country, the paper is now available at over 60 locations
in the Washington area including over 25 Metro stations.
This issue will have the usual mix of forbidden truths and suppressed news.
I invite you to submit an article.. (1000-2000 words).
The deadline for article submission is Thursday 7/17/2008.
Thank you in advance for you contribution to the Creek.

some Non-Governmental Organizations and officials are endorsing the United for

In solidarity with the American citizens, we demand an independent investigation
of the 9/11 attacks, which were the pretext for too many wars, lies, and a
serious decrease of (y)our civil rights (“anti-terrorist”-acts,
secret prisons, “Patriot act”, etc). We want European troops back
home! We want European laws that guarantee neutrality of the internet and
that explicitly forbid tracing/chipping (RFID) of human beings as well as
other electronic threats on our freedom. We want democratic and public control
of financial organizations (IMF, WB, etc) and the mass media. But most of
all we want you to get your life back.
The protest will be joined by various citizens from all over Europe. Unlike
last year this protest is now being endorsed by various Non-Governmental Organizations.
The Committee for the Abolition of Third World Debt (CATMD) and ATTAC Brussels,
among other yet to be confirmed organizations, fully support the platform of
United for Truth.
United for Truth made its first public appearance in September 2007, with the

by two Belgian artists: Dutch speaking Julez Edward (25)… Continue reading
Corporate media colludes with democracy’s demise
By Bill Moyers
Without a free and independent press, this 250-year-old experiment in self-government will not make it. As journalism goes, so goes democracy.
I heard this story a long time ago, growing up in Choctaw County in Oklahoma before my family moved to Texas. A tribal elder was telling his grandson about the battle the old man was waging within himself. He said, “It is between two wolves, my son. One is an evil wolf: anger, envy, sorrow, greed, self-pity, guilt, resentment, lies, false pride, superiority and ego. The other is the good wolf: joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.”
The boy took this in for a few minutes and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf won?”
The old Cherokee replied simply, “The one I feed.”
Democracy is that way. The wolf that wins is the one we feed. And in our society, media provides the fodder.
Our media institutions, deeply embedded in the power structures of society, are not providing the information that we need to make our democracy work. To put it another way, corporate media consolidation is a corrosive social force. It robs people of their voice in public affairs and pollutes the political culture. And it turns the debates about profound issues into a shouting match of polarized views promulgated by partisan apologists who trivialize democracy while refusing to speak the truth about how our country is being plundered.
Our dominant media… Continue reading

We know what a criminal White House looks like from “The Final Days” Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein’s classic account of Richard Nixon’s unraveling. The cauldron of lies, paranoia and illegal surveillance boiled over, until it was finally every man for himself as desperate courtiers scrambled to save their reputations and, in a few patriotic instances, their country.
“The Final Days” was published in 1976, two years after Nixon abdicated in disgrace. With the Bush presidency, no journalist (or turncoat White House memoirist) is waiting for the corpse to be carted away. The latest and perhaps most chilling example arrives this week from Jane Mayer of The New Yorker, long a relentless journalist on the war-on-terror torture beat. Her book “The Dark Side” connects the dots of her own past reporting and that of her top-tier colleagues (including James Risen and Scott Shane of The New York Times) to portray a White House that, like its prototype, savaged its enemies within almost as ferociously as it did the Constitution.
Some of “The Dark Side” seems right out of “The Final Days” minus Nixon’s operatic boozing and weeping. We learn, for instance, that in 2004 two conservative Republican Justice Department officials had become “so paranoid” that “they actually thought they might be in physical danger.” The fear of being wiretapped by their own peers drove them to speak in code.
The men were John Ashcroft’s deputy attorney general, James Comey, and an assistant… Continue reading
