The Truth is Not Enough: How to Overcome Emotional Barriers to 9/11 Truthby Ken Jenkins May 1, 2009 How many times has this happened to you? You are explaining to someone some of the rational, logical reasons why the official story of 9/11 can't be true, perhaps explaining how WTC 7 fell in the exact manner of a professionally planned controlled demolition -- a job which would typically take weeks to prepare -- when out comes a 'thought stopper' phrase... Why So Much Resistance to 9/11 Truth? Then there is the difficulty of accepting the self-image shattering realization that we were duped by such cover story lies. 9/11 Truth suggests a very uncomfortable and disturbing worldview, especially to those new to such concepts. The intensity of fear brought up by these vast implications causes defense mechanisms to take over our rational thought processes. Such denial most often overrides rationality.

This pattern's becoming quite clear ...Notice any familiar pattern here, at all? -Wednesday - "Britain warned of a growing terrorist risk from chemical, biological and radiological weapons and pinpointed al Qaeda in Pakistan" -Friday, March 27 - Obama rolls out his "new" Afghanistan and Pakistan -Sunday, March 29 - Newest "Be Very Afraid" alert hits the wires -- Threat of a Dirty Bomb "more likely than ever" for G20 leaders in London... -Also Sunday, Washington Post announces torturing alleged al Qaeda #2 didn't foil any dastardly plots. (Pentagon Department of Information surely huddles to determine the best path to re-terrorize The People so they'll look past this little tidbit...) -Also Sunday, Spain announces they'll go ahead with investigation of a "98-page complaint to prosecutors that accuses former Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales and five others of being the legal architects of system that allowed torture." (After which the Obama legal team surely huddles to determine the best path so they can continue to 'look forward' while assuring The People that 'no one's above the law' ... 'really') Articles follow. Are we convinced yet that "those people" are SO dangerous that we'll support sending another 21,000 US troops (plus mercenaries and civilian aid workers) into Afghanistan, and CIA drones into Pakistan, more rendition, more torture, more slaughter, or will it take a few more "dirty bomb" and "Anthrax" threats from the government to get us there? Really??? Are we even asking ourselves that question? Can we continue to overlook the illegal actions of this administration and nonrepresentational, slacking legislative branch? Since when did it become legal for "CIA drones" to bomb another country? Wasn't there something about a War Powers Act once...? Do we see the government's pattern of issuing red alerts coincidental with announcing American hegemony-building war plans? Many people became clear about that while Bush was in power, but fewer are discussing it openly now that we have "new" leadership. So what about it? Can you talk with coworkers or friends about the absurdity of this, and counter the nationalist propaganda and fear-mongering strongly enough to speak out and stand up? Food for thought . . .

We are being spoon-fed stupid again...Excellent questions being asked, as usual, by Larisa Alexandrovna over at atlargely.com, followed there by some equally thought-provoking commentary from readers. Unfortunate that even with all the "change" and "hope" promised we can't find reasonable debate, let alone any answers, in the quite un-changed corporate media...
And since Obama and his legal team can't even agree with each other on basic legal foundations--such as habeas corpus, and Obama's administration is backing immunity for John Yoo and other heinous torture proponents, the thought that this (alleged) KSM & Friends 'trial' will even begin to sort things out seems pretty silly. But why try to sort things out and reassess America's standing on basic human value? Instead, let's all focus on outrageous statements attributed to this group so we won't make a fuss when 17,000 MORE troops head into Afghanistan, when US drones bomb MORE civilians in Pakistan, when our troops DON'T leave Iraq, when all the "other Gitmos" are NOT closed, and when NO ONE is held accountable for torturing, sometimes to death, people around the world. Heck, it's worked for years and years! Yep, rev up the hatred-machine again and beat the drums of vengeance-war more loudly, so the rising wail of voices demanding justice for all humanity will be drowned out. Again... – Ed.
Larisa Alexandrovna Can someone explain to me how 5 suspected members of Al Qaeda (although there is no question regarding KSM) suddenly got their own PR machine from inside Gitmo and at the hands of a military judge, not to mention getting a world stage through which to frighten Americans some more? And the media? Well, they are too well versed in stupid to ask any sensible questions:

Conspiracies and Confabulation: Tales from two NaomisNovember 29, 2008 by Kevin Ryan AmericanBuddhist.net Learning about self-deception is important for all people today. That's because many of our problems, both as individuals and as a society, are rooted in self-deception, and many of the ways in which others abuse us relate to our inherent tendency to self-deceive. We can overcome these problems, and have a decent chance at long-term survival as a species, only if we learn about such limitations, and strive to control them. One great way to rapidly learn about self-deception, and other forms of deception, is to learn about the events of September 11th. It's easy to see widespread self-deception with regard to 9/11. For one thing, most people don't know the actual official story, given by the 9/11 Commission and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). This is despite the fact that everyone, at least in the US, has invested essentially their entire future in that story, whether they know it or not.

The Fear FactoryThe FBI now has more than 100 task forces devoted exclusively to fighting terrorism. But is the government manufacturing ghosts? GUY LAWSON Click here to read a history of every homeland-security terror alert and the real news that was buried: "Truth or Terrorism? The Real Story Behind Five Years of High Alerts--A history of the Bush administration's most dubious terror scares — and the headlines they buried" TIM DICKINSON, Feb 07, 2008 "So, what you wanna do?" the friend asked. "A target?" the wanna-be jihadi replied. "I want some type of city-hall-type stuff, federal courthouses." It was late November 2006, and twenty-two-year-old Derrick Shareef and his friend Jameel were hanging out in Rockford, Illinois, dreaming about staging a terrorist attack on America. The two men weren't sure what kind of assault they could pull off. All Shareef knew was that he wanted to cause major damage, to wreak vengeance on the country he held responsible for oppressing Muslims worldwide. "Smoke a judge," Shareef said. Maybe firebomb a government building. But while Shareef harbored violent fantasies, he was hardly a serious threat as a jihadi. An American-born convert to Islam, he had no military training and no weapons. He had less than $100 in the bank. He worked in a dead-end job as a clerk in a video-game store. He didn't own a car. So dire were his circumstances, Shareef had no place to live. Then one day, Jameel, a fellow Muslim, had shown up at EB Games and offered him shelter. Within hours of meeting his new brother, Shareef had moved in with Jameel and his three wives and nine children. Living together, the pair fantasized about targets in Rockford, a Midwestern city of 150,000, with a minuscule Muslim population and the lone claim to fame of being the hometown of Cheap Trick.

Toying With Terror Alerts? In the Bush era, the timing and quality of "arrests" and "warnings" have a suspicious ring By Joshua Micah Marshall As we wait to see if the London liquid explosive plot was credible or as pathetically insubstantial as this year's Florida and Canadian "conspiracies", here is a recent relevent piece from our less than radical brothers in the corporate press. We must always remember that unlike acts of arson or murder, acts of terror refer less to objective deeds than to the reactions of a populace. By this logic whatever spreads terror is an act of terror and who does that better these days than our own electioneering government? - Ed.In these perilous days, we must be ready to think the unthinkable. No, I don't mean the possibility of a catastrophic terrorist attack. After 9/11, that's all too easy to imagine. No, I'm talking about a thought that even now seldom forces its way into respectable conversation: the quite reasonable suspicion that the Bush Administration orchestrates its terror alerts and arrests to goose the GOP's poll numbers.

Sixteen Tons....and whatya get?
by Inquisitive Raven I wrote a comment on another article this week about how the Republicans were actually forcing people down the levels of the Hierarchy of Needs, which resulted in Americans asking for less and less and worrying more and more about basic needs like food, energy, jobs and relationships... Here's a quick primer on the Hierarchy of Needs (HofN). You can find much more in the Wikipedia, of course.

America The Fearful
By Bob Herbert A fairly elementary and belated riff on the Rove/Cheney era of engineered insecurity. It is all downstream analysis, alas, and doesn't go to the logical 9/11 fountainhead, but it is in the NY Times, and half of New Yorkers have now apparently walked upstream by themselves . - Ed.In the dark days of the Depression, Franklin Roosevelt counseled Americans to avoid fear. George W. Bush is his polar opposite. The public's fear is this president's most potent political asset. Perhaps his only asset. Mr. Bush wants ordinary Americans to remain in a perpetual state of fear -- so terrified, in fact, that they will not object to the steady erosion of their rights and liberties, and will not notice the many ways in which their fear is being manipulated to feed an unconscionable expansion of presidential power.

Forget 9/11 -- Just For a MinuteWhat Should We Really Be Afraid Of? By W. David Jenkins III Project for the Old American Century June 1, 2005 First, forget the apparently dismissive title. Mr. Jenkins takes this profound piece right back into the heart of the trauma with rare insight and sanity. He has read Griffin and knows the source of current evils and national insecurity, and lays it out clearly with great skill. - Ed. That's right, I said it. Forget about 9/11. Just put all those horrible images away. I mean no disrespect but I think it's time to put things in perspective. 9/11 has become an excuse for those who would exploit it and the world is a sadder and more dangerous place because of those who have used the tragedy for their own gains.

A Personal DecisionBy Kevin Ryan June 9th 2005 UL whistleblower Kevin Ryan's brilliant statement of the central challenges we face as individuals and a nation in the wake of 9/11 fraud. (For author background, see Ryan stories in right-hand column here.) - Ed.Have you ever found yourself caught between several hundred million people and their most cherished lies? After writing a letter to a government scientist, pleading with him to clarify a report of his work, I found myself in just that situation. The letter was circulated on the internet and for a brief time I became a reluctant celebrity. Of course I stand behind what I wrote, although it was originally intended as a personal message, not an open letter. Since many have asked for clarification, here is my message to all. To me, the report in question represents a decision point, not just for the US, but for humanity as a whole. We're at a point where we must decide if we will live consciously, or literally give up our entire reality for a thin veneer of lies. In the US these lies include cheap propaganda that passes for journalism, police-state measures that promise security, and mountains of debt that paint a picture of wealth. Additionally we've adopted many implicit self-deceptions, like the idea that we'll always enjoy a limitless share of the world's resources, no matter where these are located or who might disagree.
