CIA Criminal Revolving Door: CIA Officer “Albert” Involved in False Intelligence Linking Al-Qaeda to Iran, Iraq
by Kevin Fenton
Reprimanded for Torture, Retired, then Back to CIA as a Contractor
A recent book by former FBI agent Ali Soufan shows that the same CIA officer was involved in generating intelligence that falsely linked al-Qaeda to first Iran and then Iraq. The officer was also involved in a notorious torture episode and was reprimanded by the Agency’s inspector general.
The officer, who Soufan refers to as “Fred,” but whose real first name is “Albert” according to a February 2011 Associated Press article, served at the CIA station in Jordan in 1999. During that time, al-Qaeda, aided by a collection of freelance terrorists headed by Abu Zubaidah, attempted to commit a series of attacks in the country, known as the Millennium Plot. However, the attacks were foiled by the local Jordanian intelligence service, working with the CIA and FBI.
During the investigations of the plotters, Albert drafted a series of official cables that were later withdrawn. Although the withdrawing of the cables was first mentioned in a July 2006 article by Lawrence Wright for the New Yorker, Wright did not mention what was in the cables or by whom they were drafted. The content of one of them and the drafter were first revealed upon the publication of Soufan’s book in mid-September 2011.
According to Soufan, one of the twelve withdrawn cables falsely stated that the group of… Continue reading

‘Most journalists in the United States believe the press here is free. That grand illusion only helps obscure the fact that, by and large, the US corporate press does not report what’s really going on, while tuning out, or laughing off, all those who try to do just that. Americans — now more than ever — need those outlets that do labor to report some truth. Project Censored is not just among the bravest, smartest, and most rigorous of those outlets, but the only one that’s wholly focused on those stories that the corporate press ignores, downplays and/or distorts. This latest book is therefore a must-read for anyone who cares about this country, its tottering economy, and–most important–what’s now left of its democracy.” –Mark Crispin Miller, professor of media ecology, NYU

” In one volume, Mounting Evidence provides the most important evidence accumulated over many years that calls into question the government’s account of 9/11. Any citizen of conscience reading it will demand a new investigation.” -Mike Gravel, United States Senate, 1969-1981
There’s little doubt the tragic attacks on 9/11 soon became the defining events of our time, shaping much of what has followed. But even now, over a decade later, how well does the public actually understand them? Other researchers have written about key facets of 9/11-the fall of World Trade Center buildings, the air-defense failures, the backgrounds of the hijackers, or the role of the Saudi funders. This impressively researched volume, however, is the first comprehensive treatment of the many different angles. It connects the dots to reveal disturbing patterns. Years after many of us thought the Crime of the Century was solved, “case closed” additional evidence demands a closer look. These findings, which Dr. Rea presents in a lively, accessible way, call out for a new investigation. In Mounting Evidence , Dr. Rea shows how, by understanding the shattering events of that dark day, Americans can end seemingly endless wars, take back personal liberties they’ve lost, and restore their democracy.

Banned Books Week (BBW)
is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment. Held during the last week of September, Banned Books Week highlights the benefits of free and open access to information while drawing attention to the harms of censorship by spotlighting actual or attempted bannings of books across the United States.
Intellectual freedom–the freedom to access information and express ideas, even if the information and ideas might be considered unorthodox or unpopular–provides the foundation for Banned Books Week. BBW stresses the importance of ensuring the availability of unorthodox or unpopular viewpoints for all who wish to read and access them.
The books featured during Banned Books Week have been targets of attempted bannings. Fortunately, while some books were banned or restricted, in a majority of cases the books were not banned, all thanks to the efforts of librarians, teachers, booksellers, and members of the community to retain the books in the library collections. Imagine how many more books might be challenged–and possibly banned or restricted–if librarians, teachers, and booksellers across the country did not use Banned Books Week each year to teach the importance of our First Amendment rights and the power of literature, and to draw attention to the danger that exists when restraints are imposed on the availability of information in a free society.

Regarding video, “9/11: A Conspiracy Theory,” described as “Everything you ever wanted to know about the 9/11 conspiracy theory in under 5 minutes.”
Bravo! Kudos! Congratulations!! Thanks to independent journalist James Corbett for producing this outstanding video, now complete with transcript linking key facts to evidence. Really … go to The Corbett Report, take five minutes and watch this.
James has also posted the video at YouTube, which is embedded below. I highly recommend you go straight to the source, however, for the video with valuable transcript and links.
HistoryCommons.org has been offline the last few days, including the Complete 9/11 Timeline, as we reported early morning 9/11 as part of our story about the CIA threatening the “9/11: Press for Truth” filmmakers. It is a relief to report this morning that the site is once again available.
If you have not been aware or taken advantage of this astounding research tool, or participated in the development of this “experiment in open-content civic journalism,” I encourage you to do so. The 32 individual timelines hosted at HistoryCommons offer an astounding wealth of information drawn from the media on subjects such as the events on 9/11, it’s environmental effects, anthrax, Iraq war, neocon influences on US politics, George W. Bush’s treatment of American troops, electoral politics, and much more.
Students often write to me asking where and how to start researching on some aspect of 9/11 or related matter for class projects and research papers; HistoryCommons.org is where I tell them to start. Not only is the information presented in a comprehensible manner, every single entry is thoroughly sourced. I challenge anyone to review what’s at HistoryCommons.org and maintain their belief that people asking questions are lunatics or morons.
Thank you, Paul Thompson and all of you who dedicate your time, voluntarily, to civic journalism and assembling this incredibly valuable historical record. I know our posterity will thank you, as well. Welcome back!
Introduction: 9/11 Ten Years Later
The words in the title of this book – “9/11 Ten Years Later” – are often followed with an exclamation point. The exclamation point may be a way of expressing, by members of the 9/11 Truth Movement, amazement that the truth has not already been publicly revealed. The exclamation point might be used by detractors of this movement — perhaps along with an expletive — to express their feeling that it is time for these people to “get a life.” The exclamation point might reflect a position somewhat in the middle — of spouses of members hoping that no more years of their family life will be oriented around the work of trying to get the truth revealed.
In any case, for reasons discussed in this book (especially the final two chapters), there is nothing surprising about the fact that the 9/11 crime has not been revealed. Those who have gained control of a state in an ostensible democracy have many means not only for orchestrating major crimes, but also for preventing those crimes (including their crimes against democracy itself) from being publicized.
What is somewhat surprising, perhaps to the perpetrators themselves, is the fact that the 9/11 Truth Movement is still alive and, in fact, continues to grow. The first professional 9/11 organization, Scholars for 9/11 Truth, was formed in 2005, and since then a dozen professional organizations have been created. It was not until 2006 that architect Richard Gage started… Continue reading

AS 10TH ANNIVERSARY APPROACHES, NEW BOOK CHALLENGES OFFICIAL STORY OF 9/11
While next month ‘s commemorations in New York, San Francisco and other cities are affirming the official narrative for the 9/11 tragedy, MOUNTING EVIDENCE shows how it doesn’t square with information now available. In each of the key areas — the shifting stories, the remarkable intelligence lapses, the stunning air defense failures, the unprecedented fall of the World Trade Center buildings — the government explanations conflict with what is known today.
There’s little doubt the tragic attacks on 9/11 quickly became the defining events of our time, shaping much of what has followed. But if Americans don’t understand the past, are they ready to face an uncertain future? In MOUNTING EVIDENCE, Dr. Rea shows that by understanding the shattering events of that dark day, Americans can help to end seemingly endless wars, take back their lost personal liberties, and restore their democracy.
While other researchers have written about 9/11, this fact-based volume is the first comprehensive treatment of the many different angles. It connects the dots to reveal disturbing patterns concerning the intelligence failures, the hijackers’ backgrounds, and the role of the Saudi funders.
Presented in a lively, accessible way, Dr. Rea ‘s findings call out for a new investigation. Former US Senator Mike Gravel, who is already organizing ballot referenda in… Continue reading

Introduction to Chapter 15 of Disconnecting the Dots , for publication at 911Truth.org :
In January 2000, several high-ranking al-Qaeda operatives, including alleged Flight 77 hijackers Khalid Almihdhar and Nawaf Alhazmi, held a summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The meeting was monitored by the CIA and a local Malaysian service, although the agency reportedly failed to exploit this opportunity to learn what bin Laden’s organization was planning. In addition, the CIA deliberately withheld information about the two men, in particular that Almihdhar had a US visa, from the FBI. The agency then allegedly suffered the misfortune of losing Almihdhar, Alhazmi and another al-Qaeda operative in Bangkok, Thailand. The surveillance of the Malaysia summit was run by Alec Station, the CIA’s bin Laden unit, its chief Richard Blee and his deputy Tom Wilshire. On January 12 and 14 Blee gave his superior, Cofer Black, incorrect briefings about what was happening with the surveillance. Chapter 15 picks up the story on January 15.

It has been nearly 10 years since 9/11, and the tragedy is still on the minds of many Americans. One of those, writer and artist Rick Veitch, is convinced we haven’t been told the complete truth about it.
Veitch structured the story similarly to the 1963 Twilight Zone episode “No Time Like the Past,” in which a man uses a time machine to try to “fix” three events: warning a Hiroshima policeman about the atomic bomb, assassinating Hitler before World War II and stopping the sinking of the Lusitania.
In The Big Lie, the heroine is a woman named Sandra, who lost her husband, Carl, during the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City. A particle physicist working at the Large Hadron Collider, she figures out a practical way to travel back in time, so she ventures from present day to Manhattan an hour before the first plane hits the towers on Sept. 11, 2001.
She rushes to his office at a risk-management consulting agency, but since she has aged 10 years, Carl can’t quite accept that it’s her. And even though she brings evidence on her iPad, neither her spouse nor his co-workers believe her warnings.

Siena Research Institute Poll Commissioned by “Remember Building 7″
Campaign Shows Significant Skepticism of Official Account
June 8, 2011
NEW YORK CITY, NY — Amid its June 6th launch of 425 advertising spots
on New York television, Remember Building 7 — an advocacy campaign calling
for a new investigation into the collapse of a third skyscraper on 9/11 —
has released findings from a new poll it commissioned on what New Yorkers believe
about that day.
The May polling of 643 New Yorkers (including respondents in all of New York
City’s five boroughs) by the independent Siena Research Institute shows
meaningful levels of doubt and concern regarding the truth about what happened
that day, with only 60 percent of New Yorkers ready to “move on”,
and 48 percent in favor of the Manhattan District Attorney or New York City
Council opening a new investigation into the collapse of World Trade Center
The poll finds:
1 in 3 New Yorkers were unaware of Building 7’s collapse (the
skyscraper was not hit by an airplane; it collapsed seven hours after the Twin
Towers), only 25 percent have ever seen video footage of the collapse, and 86
percent were unable to name the building;
Of those aware of Building 7’s collapse, 24 percent believe it
was a controlled demolition that brought the building down, 23… Continue reading

Vic Sadot–Courage To Resist (5:21)
Courage To Resist, by Vic Sadot, is a tribute to GI Resistance and whistle-blowers
in 2011. The title is taken from the name of the civilian organization called
“Courage To Resist” that supports troops in service who become anti-war. The songwriter says “The song was inspired especially by Private Bradley Manning and Wikileaks for exposing the lies, war crimes, and cover-ups of the corporate
The song has two verses about Bradley Manning, Wikileaks, and the release of
a video showing US helicopter pilots joking about killing 11 unarmed Iraqi civilians.
Two of the murdered civilians were Reuters reporters. Two small children were
maimed in the bullet spraying. Nichol Mitchell was in Iraq when she became a
conscientious objector and refused to serve in the occupation. Marc Hall had
already served his enlistment time when the US Army ordered him to continue
in combat operations in Iraq by using “stop loss” legislation that
attempts to rescind the contract that an enlisted soldier made at the time of
enlistment in order to force him or her to remain in military service. The Courage
To Resist organization states, “According to the Pentagon, more than 120,000
soldiers have been affected by stop-loss since 2001″. Hall wrote an angry
hip hop song and posted it on the internet. The song made people all over the
world aware of the little known and reported use of the “stop loss draft”
to keep enlisted service men and women… Continue reading

Having read a few of Peter Dale Scott’s earlier books, I was looking forward to his new work, American War Machine. I was not disappointed. Published by Roman & Littlefield in late 2010, this book examines a wide-ranging number of covert US operations since World War II, and, among other things, demonstrates that many of these operations were intimately connected with, and dependent on, illicit drug trafficking. Although my background and experience do not qualify me to write an authoritative review of this important book, I hope that my impressions will compel others to read it.
Scott previously defined concepts such as deep events, deep politics and the deep state, to refer to covert mechanisms that facilitate the strategies of the politically minded rich, a group otherwise referred to as the overworld. Deep events, which Scott defines as those which are “systematically ignored or falsified in the mainstream media and public consciousness,” can be seen as sharing certain features, such as cover-up of evidence and irresoluble controversy over what happened. These features contribute to a suppressed memory of the event among the general public. Deep events are often associated with illegally sanctioned violence, and involve little known, but historically evident, cooperation between leaders of the state and organized crime.
In American War Machine, Scott sets out to write the first “deep history” of such events, politics and state entities. As he writes: “In my experience, deep… Continue reading

MARTIN LUTHER KING OPPOSED WAR AND SPOKE OUT AGAINST IT
Dr. King’s words are as relevant today as they were almost 44 years ago; they could have been spoken yesterday.
Quotes from Martin Luther King’s sermon at the Ebenezer Baptist Church on April 30, 1967 opposing the Vietnam War and calling for “a revolution of values”:
“The time has come for America to hear the truth about this tragic war.”
“There comes a time when silence is betrayal.”
“…there are those who are seeking to equate dissent with disloyalty. It’s a dark day in our nation when high-level authorities will seek to use every method to silence dissent. Something is happening and people are not going to be silenced. The truth must be told.”
“… the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today, my own government.”
“There will be no meaningful solution until some attempt is made to know these people [the Vietnamese], and hear their broken cries.”
“A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.”
“Come home, America. I call on Washington today. I call on every man and woman of good will all over America today.”

William Pepper is a legendary American author, British barrister, and King family lawyer.
Fiction delivers justice that reality rarely approaches. Victims en dure suffering and emerge as victors after overcoming incredible challenges. Stieg Larsson’s gripping Millennium Trilogy weaves a story of revenge and triumphs for Lizbeth Salander, locked away in a mental institution and sexually abused for years. When Salander got out and threatened to go public about a high level sexual exploitation ring, the perpetrators sought to lock her up again. In the final installment, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest, Salander found some justice. ( Image )
Susan Lindauer’s autobiography, Extreme Prejudice , tells a story with certain broad similarities. In her case, however, the hornet’s nest kicked back with a real vengeance. After over a decade as a U.S. intelligence asset, Lindauer was privy to information about pre war Iraq that threatened to serve up a huge embarrassment to the Bush-Cheney regime. She hand delivered a letter to senior Bush administration officials in hopes of averting what she predicted would be the inevitably tragic 2003 US invasion of Iraq. Those officials, unnamed in the indictment, were her second cousin, then White House chief of staff Andy Card, and Colin Powell.
After the invasion failed to find weapons of mass destruction (WMD), Lindauer went to Congress offering to testify about the quality of prewar intelligence. In early 2004, she met with staffers in the offices of Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Trent Lott (D-MS) in February 2004. Shortly after those visits and other offers… Continue reading

Publishers know that controversy fuels book sales. Apparently, so does burning them.
The Pentagon has only helped build buzz around “Operation Dark Heart,” a firsthand account of special operations in Afghanistan, by burning 9,500 copies — nearly all the first run. (Some review copies, released before publication, have filtered out and sold for more than $2,000 on eBay, according to Time magazine.)
Destroying books isn’t an everyday occurrence. In fact, the Pentagon says it has never destroyed copies of a book before. But in this case, the Pentagon contends that Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer’s work includes classified information that shouldn’t have been published and therefore it was the only option.
On Sept. 24, four days after the burning, publisher St. Martin’s Press printed 50,000 copies of the book with supposedly classified information now blacked out. Even with redactions, the second run — five times larger than the first — is selling well. Time magazine noted that “Operation Dark Heart” hit No. 1 on Amazon’s biography list and No. 2 on Barnes & Noble’s political list.
The Pentagon may have succeeded in keeping thousands of unredacted copies from hitting the shelves, but it cannot be certain that the book’s contents won’t ever reach readers. In the digital age, it’s nearly impossible to completely destroy anything. WikiLeaks, the secretive whistleblower site, called the Pentagon “Nazi punks” for burning the books and has already threatened to post an unredacted copy on the Internet.… Continue reading

A review of David Ray Griffin’s new book, Cognitive Infiltration:
an Obama Appointee’s Plan to Undermine the 9/11 Conspiracy Theory
By Tod Fletcher
Posted September 15, 2010
Shortly after taking office on January 20, 2009 President Obama appointed Harvard
law professor (and personal friend) Cass Sunstein to the post of administrator
of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. In June 2009
Sunstein published an essay in The Journal of Political Philosophy entitled
“Conspiracy Theories: Causes and Cures,” in which he provided an “analysis”
of conspiracy theories, viewing them, as his title indicated, as “caused”
by “informational isolation” and requiring “cures”, i.e.,
elimination. The article led to an outcry by civil libertarians of all political
stripes, who especially singled out for protest Sunstein’s call for covert “cognitive
infiltration” by government agents of organizations the government deems
Because Sunstein explicitly states that “9/11 conspiracy theories”
are his main focus, virtually all interpreters have agreed that Sunstein’s call
for what is essentially another Cointelpro Operation is directed specifically
against the 9/11 truth movement. (Cointelpro, or “Counter Intelligence
Program”, was the FBI’s name for its high-priority operations to infiltrate,
provoke, undermine and disable civil rights, socialist, antiwar, black power
and Native American movements during the late 1950s and the 1960s.) The fantastic
picture Sunstein paints of the 9/11 truth movement as “harmful,” “dangerous,”
and likely to resort to “terrorism” suggests that he is serving a
function similar to Philip Zelikow’s during the Bush/Cheney years; in his own
way, Sunstein… Continue reading
