Monday AOL News logged the NY Times report on the Chicago 9/11 conference (below) as their Most Popular News Story throughout the day and over 180,000 people responded to the attached poll. (See AOL version here.) It has now completely vanished from the Most Popular page (and every other story list on the site), despite the fact that only about 70,000 people voted in the week’s Most Popular story poll. And consider the even odder fact that Google “9/11″ News Alerts still do not list the NY Times story (and they also declined to run our Zogby poll press release even though PRWeb sent it to them at least three times). “What’s up?” you might ask. We certainly do.

About 10 years ago, I was asked to perform comedy at a conference I quickly dubbed “the Paranoids Conference.” Each presenter had a dark tale to tell of abductions, drug running, assassinations and other nefarious horrors too terrible to mention. There were whispers of government agents in our midst, so when it was my turn to perform, I said I was with the CIA. I paused while the audience gasped. “That’s the Comedians Institute of America.” It got a laugh, but no amount of laughter could counterbalance the toxicity of the atmosphere. I couldn’t wait to leave.
Fast forward to a sunny Sunday afternoon early last year when I found myself in Santa Rosa’s Church of the Rose to hear Dr. David Ray Griffin, author of a book on the 9-11 attacks called The New Pearl Harbor , as well as The 9-11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions . Griffin, a soft-spoken retired professor of theology with sandy, graying hair, proceeded to calmly and quietly dismantle the official 9-11 story. The room was filled to standing with people of all ages, many of whom attended the church. As Griffin made his case for how the official story could never have happened the way they said it did, I looked around me. Everyone was riveted, and yet I could detect no fear, no paranoia in the room.
People were hearing his message–the essentials of which are that our government likely knew… Continue reading

Interesting little microcosmic tale of official 9/11 consciousness – private contractor gets caught stealing first responder supplies, but FBI looks the other way ’cause a bunch of government suits were also out there looting. (May explain why the FBI doesn’t want to charge Bin Laden either…) The whistleblowers who told the FBI “lost their jobs, received death threats and were blackballed in the disaster relief industry.” The lead whistleblower later lamented if he knew what would happen he would have kept his mouth shut. Who says this government is not serious about education? – Ed.
(AP) NEW YORK — A disaster relief company that took supplies that were supposed to go to September 11th rescuers at the World Trade Center escaped punishment by the government.
The lead investigators for the FBI and FEMA told the Associated Press that the plan to prosecute Kieger Enterprises for the thefts stopped as soon as it became clear in 2002 that federal employees, including FBI agents, had stolen items from Ground Zero.
The government also didn’t prosecute any of its employees for taking souvenirs, claiming it lacked a policy prohibiting such thefts.
Jane Turner, the lead FBI agent, called it a sad indictment of our justice system that people went unprosecuted “in order to cover up misconduct by federal employees, especially in a prestigious agency like the FBI.”
Turner claimed the FBI tried to fire her for bringing the FBI’s ground zero thefts to light. Turner retired in 2003.… Continue reading

Alex Jones’ hugely successful, energetic, and brilliantly named “9/11 and the Neo-Con Agenda” conference gets covered here by British wire service, Reuters. Reuters feeds every major news outlet in America, but, strange to say, the last time we checked Google News only Aljazeera, Alarab, and Tehran Times seem to have found this overflow event newsworthy. It’s enough to make you believe in conspiracies of silence. But of course that’s only a theory…
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – They wore T-shirts asking “What Really Happened?,” snapped up DVDs titled “9/11; The Great Illusion,” and cheered as physicists, philosophers and terrorism experts decried the official version of the Sept. 11 attacks that shook America to its core.
Some 1,200 people gathered at a Los Angeles hotel on the weekend for what organizers billed as the largest conference on the plethora of conspiracy theories that see the 2001 attacks on Washington and New York as, at best, official negligence, and at worst an orchestrated U.S. attempt to incite world war.
“There are so many prominent people who are incredibly well-respected who have stated that the evidence is overwhelming that 9/11 was an inside job,” syndicated radio talk show host Alex Jones told a news conference.
“There are hundreds of smoking guns that people need to be made aware of,” said Jones, calling for the impeachment of President George W. Bush and charging that mainstream media had been slow to cover the growing movement of 9/11… Continue reading

Associated Press coverage of the New York 9/11 Truth group’s “9/11 First Responders: Voices From The Pit” speak-out. This is the group’s latest outreach effort to the toxin-stricken first responder community, which badly needs the solidarity given the stunning official neglect it still endures.
David Miller coughed into a napkin, leaving behind a quarter-sized
smear of blood.
The hacking is a constant reminder of the 10 days the National
Guardsman spent clearing debris at Ground Zero.
Forty-eight hours after he arrived in the smoking aftermath of the
Sept. 11 attack, Miller said yesterday, the health effects from
airborne debris were obvious and severe.
“I was practically blind, I was coughing, I had blisters all up and
down my arms,” he said. “If I’d been smart I wouldn’t have gone back.”
Today, Miller’s health is crumbling. The 39-year-old Bronx
construction worker said he suffers chronic lung infections, skin
rashes and a 60 percent drop in lung capacity.
Miller and several other 9/11 first responders spoke yesterday about
lingering health problems at The Community Church of New York on East
35th Street in Manhattan. The forum is part of a series of lectures,
films and public protests organized by the nonprofit group New York
9/11 Truth. The organization accuses the government of covering up
intelligence failures leading to the attacks and allowing first
responders to work in toxic… Continue reading

WASHINGTON, July 3 — The Central Intelligence Agency has closed a unit that for a decade had the mission of hunting Osama bin Laden and his top lieutenants, intelligence officials confirmed Monday.
The unit, known as Alec Station, was disbanded late last year and its analysts reassigned within the C.I.A. Counterterrorist Center, the officials said.
The decision is a milestone for the agency, which formed the unit before Osama bin Laden became a household name and bolstered its ranks after the Sept. 11 attacks, when President Bush pledged to bring Mr. bin Laden to justice “dead or alive.”
The realignment reflects a view that Al Qaeda is no longer as hierarchical as it once was, intelligence officials said, and a growing concern about Qaeda-inspired groups that have begun carrying out attacks independent of Mr. bin Laden and his top deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri.
Agency officials said that tracking Mr. bin Laden and his deputies remained a high priority, and that the decision to disband the unit was not a sign that the effort had slackened. Instead, the officials said, it reflects a belief that the agency can better deal with high-level threats by focusing on regional trends rather than on specific organizations or individuals.
“The efforts to find Osama bin Laden are as strong as ever,”… Continue reading
Was September 11th an Inside Job?
Le Monde Diplomatique, Norway
July 1, 2006
(Rough translation by “Seabhcan”)
9/11TRUTH: More and more people in the USA are convinced that the American authorities are concealing their involvement in the September 11th tragedy. Statements from witnesses, marked confidential for several years, now show that controlled demolition may have taken place. The US government had long anticipated such an incident – as the Republican document from 2000 Rebuilding America’s defenses indicates. The 9/11Truth organisation believes that the USA probably orchestrated an incident of this type in order to justify the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the curtailing of civil liberties within the US through the introduction of The Patriot Act. It has now emerged that the America’s most senior military leader in 1962 devised a plan for a premeditated attack on Americans, which would have involved shooting down a passenger plane, so that the blame could be cast on Cuba. So why should this be excluded today? Many also believe that Pakistani intelligence cooperated with the CIA and Al-Qaida because the former transferred significant sums of money to the hijacker Mohammed Atta in the days leading up to the 11th of September. They even had Bin Laden under surveillance during the time of his treatment in a military hospital in Peshawar, Pakistan in September 2001.
Journalist for Le Monde Diplomatique.
Most of us would think it strange if the impact of a passenger plane wasn’t sufficient to cause… Continue reading
9/11 THEORIES FLOURISH
by Kristin Solberg
- All the lies from the Bush administration is the main reason for all the conspiracy theories , says NRK-veteran Jahn Otto Johansen.
One of the most debated; why did WTC 7 collapse?
- This is not something that just could have happened, there are too many incidents. You can’t even conclude that the administration let it happen, you have to conclude they made it happen , says Michael Berger.
Strange. Suspicious. That’s how spokesman for 9/11 Truth feels about September 11th. And he has a lot of supporters, on both sides of the Atlantic. Here in Norway, Le Monde Diplomatique, wrote about the 9/11 conspiracy theories in their last monthly edition.
9/11 Truth is a voluntary organisation which “seeks answer on behalf of the families left behind and the American people, questions which deserve to be answered”. About 5000 people receive their news letters, and last month, 750 showed up at a conference held in Chicago. Due to limited resources, only the general manager gets paid.
- This is an important cause – a turn over for the USA – so we have to do something , says Berger when questioned why he dedicates so much time without pay.
From their point of view, 9/11 Truth and their supporters are fighting for independence, truth and the American Constitution, against corruption and lies served from both the political elite and private industry.
Others see them as lunatics who can’t handle the facts. They are conspiracy theorists.…Continue reading

With $6,000 and a laptop computer, three kids from upstate New York made a documentary about 9/11 that spread across the Internet and threw millions for a loop.
Nine-eleven conspiracy theories have been circulating for years, producing millions of Web links, scores of books, and a nationwide collection of doubters known as the “9/11 Truth” movement.
In 2005 the State Department responded by posting some “clues” to “identifying misinformation” on their Web site. “Does the story claim that vast, powerful, evil forces are secretly manipulating events?” it asks. “If so, this fits the profile of a conspiracy theory. Conspiracy theories are rarely true, even though they have great appeal and are often widely believed. In reality, events usually have much less exciting explanations.”
One of the first American officials to publicly acknowledge conspiracy theories in connection with 9/11 was President George Bush, who on November 10, 2001, in a speech to the General Assembly of the United Nations, said, “Let us never tolerate outrageous conspiracy theories concerning the attacks of September 11.”
Yet according to a May 2006 Zogby poll, 42 percent of Americans now believe that the U.S.…Continue reading

IT FEELS A BIT like entering a porn site. Forbidden, exciting, something for socially misfit gloaters. So I enter www.911truth.org with the brakes on, ready to back off in shame and with a giggle. What makes me hesitate to enter the homepage of USA’s biggest organization of 9/11 skeptics is the lustful concept of ?conspiracy theory?. For is it not just the high and stoned and very alternative who can bring themselves to believe something else than the official story of September 11? Wild radicals? Drug addicts?
No more. 70 percent of Americans in voting age doubt the official story of what happened on that day that changed the world. And that is not primarily due to government paranoia. It’s simply due to the questions being too many and the official answers too poor. When they even exist, that is.
AND VERY OFTEN they don’t. Considered that it is the greatest internal catastrophe of the superpower, it is strangely lacking in investigation, and always subject to strict resistance from the administration. Judicially it has hardly had any consequences at all: just one person is convicted. The 9/11 Commission has huge holes. For instance it ignores the fact that there were not just two, but three buildings that collapsed on that day, and that the third, WTC7, was not hit by a plane at all. And that it collapsed seven hours after the attack.…Continue reading
’9/11 Truth’ Movement: Just Weird to Completely Insane
by Paul C. Campos

Instructive look into the recently 9/11-jostled mind of a bright but clueless liberal facing the wild Internet bazaar of “9/11 truths”. His logical revulsion at holograms, satanists, passenger consolidation, etc. is expected and reasonable, and he does seem to want to sort hypotheses in a somewhat rational way (at least one that coincides with his own timid preconceptions and doesn’t require any tedious research to sustain). Especially interesting is his concluding meditation on 9/11 scepticism’s enduring media invisibility and how the right might have changed all that if Gore was president on that day.
Recently I wrote a column that included an offhand comment about how I was pretty sure people who believed the U.S. government was behind the 9/11 terror attacks were pathetic lunatics living in basements whose Web sites got 10 hits per day. I’ve since heard from many such people, assuring me that they don’t live in basements, that they aren’t crazy and that their Web sites are very popular.
I was also encouraged to check out the “9/11 Truth” movement, for what I was assured was conclusive evidence of an unspeakably evil government plot. Having done so, I’ve discovered a number of interesting things.
First, the 9/11 Truth movement features a wide variety of claims, ranging from the quite plausible (the government’s negligence prior to the attacks was not wholly displeasing to certain members of… Continue reading
Daniel Ellsberg is a former American military analyst employed by the RAND Corporation who precipitated a national firestorm in 1971 when he released the Pentagon Papers, the US military’s account of activities during the Vietnam War, to The New York Times. The release awakened the American people to a systematic program of organized deception carried out by the Pentagon against the population to continue the Vietnam War.
Daniel Ellsberg, speaking on air to GCN radio host Jack Blood, stated his concerns that criminal elements of the US government were psychologically capable to have carried out 9/11.
“If there’s another 9/11 or a major war in the Middle-East involving a U.S. attack on Iran, I have no doubt that there will be, the day after or within days an equivalent of a Reichstag fire decree that will involve massive detentions in this country.”

Controversial Instructor Speaks About His 9/11 Views, UW Course
Kevin Barrett Appears On ‘For The Record’
By Adam Malecek, Staff Writer
MADISON, Wis. — Controversial University of Wisconsin-Madison lecturer Kevin Barrett appeared on WISC-TV’s “For The Record,” discussing his views on the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, Islamic studies and the class he is teaching this fall at UW-Madison.
Recently, 61 state legislators signed a resolution calling for UW-Madison to fire Barrett over his outspoken views that the U.S. government orchestrated the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
UW-Madison Provost Patrick Farrell reviewed Barrett’s record and decided he was qualified to teach an introductory course on Islam as scheduled in the fall. Farrell said that the university doesn’t endorse Barrett’s theories, but he said that his review found Barrett has a record of quality teaching.
On “For The Record,” Barrett said his views are always evolving but explained how his current thoughts on 9/11 developed.
This article is quite fine, but watch the absolutely splendid interview video! Barrett’s lengthy, warm and compelling tour de force should be seen and studied by anyone facing civil questioning of their 9/11 beliefs. Like Dr. Stephen Jones, Kevin brings an extremely sympathetic and human voice to what are essentially horrific conversations and gives listeners both courage and hope in the process. The video can be downloaded for podcasting and other forms of sharing, and we urge you to share it widely.
He said that immediately after the attacks, he… Continue reading
A Skeptic on 9/11 Prompts Questions on Academic Freedom
By Gretchen Ruethling
The New York Times
August 1, 2006
MADISON, Wis., July 26 ? Sipping on a bottle of water and holding a book about the history and future of Islam, Kevin Barrett ticked off a few examples of what he saw as evidence that the Sept. 11 attacks had been an “inside job.”
As children zoomed by on tricycles and shot basketballs at a community center near his home, Mr. Barrett, 47, described how some news orgainzations (the French daily newspaper Figaro and Radio France International, in fact) had reported that an agent from the Central Intelligence Agency visited with Osama bin Laden two months before the attacks. He also said fires could not have caused the collapse of the World Trade Center towers at free-fall speed, as reported by the special Sept. 11 commission. “The 9/11 report will be universally reviled as a sham and a cover-up very soon,” said Mr. Barrett, who has been a teacher’s assistant or lecturer on Islam, African literature and other subjects at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, since 1996. “The 9/11 commission has its conspiracy theory, and we have ours.”
Mr. Barrett’s views, which he described on a conservative radio talk show in June, have outraged some Wisconsin legislators and generated a fierce debate about academic freedom on a campus long known as a haven for progressive ideologies and student activism.
“They apparently have no limits to what can be taught in the classroom,” Representative Steve Nass said of the university’s decision to allow Mr.…Continue reading

More than a third of the American public suspects that federal officials assisted in the 9/11 terrorist attacks or took no action to stop them so the United States could go to war in the Middle East, according to a new Scripps Howard/Ohio University poll.
The national survey of 1,010 adults also found that anger against the federal government is at record levels, with 54 percent saying they “personally are more angry” at the government than they used to be.
Widespread resentment and alienation toward the national government appears to be fueling a growing acceptance of conspiracy theories about the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
Suspicions that the 9/11 attacks were “an inside job” — the common phrase used by conspiracy theorists on the Internet — quickly have become nearly as popular as decades-old conspiracy theories that the federal government was responsible for President John F. Kennedy’s assassination and that it has covered up proof of space aliens.
Seventy percent of people who give credence to these theories also say they’ve become angrier with the federal government than they used to be.
Thirty-six percent of respondents overall said it is “very likely” or “somewhat likely” that federal officials either participated in the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon or took no action to stop them “because they wanted the United States to go to war in the Middle East.”
“One out of three sounds high, but that may very well be right,” said Lee Hamilton, former vice chairman of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States (also called the 9/11 Commission.) His congressionally appointed investigation concluded that federal officials bungled their attempts to prevent, but did not participate in, the attacks by al Qaeda five years ago.…Continue reading
New Tapes Disclose Confusion Within the Military on Sept. 11
By Philip Shenon
New York Times
August 2, 2006
WASHINGTON, Aug. 2 — Newly disclosed tapes offer evidence of the widespread confusion within the military as the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks were being carried out, further undermining claims by the Pentagon that it moved quickly to try to intercept and shoot down one or more of the hijacked jets.
When matched with the timeline of the attacks, the tapes make clear that information about the hijackings was slow to reach the military on Sept. 11 and that much of the information that did reach Air Force commanders was faulty. [[

9/11 Live: The NORAD Tapes

“How did the U.S. Air Force respond on 9/11? Could it have shot down United 93, as conspiracy theorists claim? The tapes were provided under subpoena to the independent commission that investigated the Sept. 11 attacks, and parts of them had previously been made public by that commission.
But the full collection of nearly 30 hours of tapes from the North American Aerospace Defense Command, or Norad, were released by the Pentagon last year to Michael Bronner, a producer on the recent film “United 93,” who described them in detail in an article posted this week on the Web site of Vanity Fair magazine (www.vanityfair.com).…Continue reading
