Some Americans and people around the world are wondering more about the 9/11 attacks. Questions are being asked and frightening allegations are being made.
“The 9/11 Truth Movement” is a phrase being used to describe a wide range of people and organizations who are asking these questions and digging up information that appears on the surface to be quite serious if true.
One of the major questions being asked is if anyone in the U.S. Government had foreknowledge that a terrorist attack was being planned using airliners as weapons. And if so, did they deliberately allow the attacks to occur so this new Pearl Harbor-like event would create a desired climate in America.
The idea that officials within our government would allow innocent Americans to be killed to advance other goals and agendas is difficult for many to believe. Surely this is impossible. Yet, 9/11 investigators keep coming up with allegations that make us wonder.
Researchers within The 9/11 Truth Movement put forth interesting allegations and hypothesize about possible motivations for powerful people to want an event like the 9/11 attacks to occur. The investigative reports, facts, theories, allegations and hypotheses are spelled out in several books, films and Web sites.
Below are a few of the many allegations being made about the 9/11 attacks:
- Financial investments of various kinds immediately before the 9/11 indicate that there was quite specific pre-knowledge of the attacks and how they would be carried out.…Continue reading

In February of this year, United for Peace and Justice (UFPJ), a coalition of more than 800 peace and justice groups throughout the United States, held their second annual Assembly to hear and vote on proposals for a 2005 “action plan.” With the war in Iraq fast approaching its second anniversary, and the larger “War on Terror” crossing its third and half year, close to 500 delegates from 275 member groups traveled to St. Louis in the hopes that the “anti-war movement” — which emerged with unprecedented speed and size just prior to the US invasion of Iraq in spring of 2003 — could be resuscitated. Despite impressive beginnings, the movement as a whole has yet to make any significant impact on US policy, or achieve any lasting public resonance. More disturbing is the fact that since Bush’s victory in November, it has gone completely MIA.
One week after the election, the US launched a massive, sustained offensive on the Iraqi city of Fallujah, which absolutely leveled the metropolis of 350,000. Virtually everyone in the “movement” knew this offensive was a forgone conclusion should Bush be reelected (though few understood that the offensive would likely have gone ahead regardless of who won). Yet, despite this foreknowledge, the streets of America remained empty. In San Francisco, the usual hotbed for anti-war activism, barely 500 people showed up to a demonstration organized by the local chapter of International ANSWER, and endorsed by Global Exchange & Code Pink, the two most prominent activist groups in the Bay Area.…Continue reading
It takes a long-term view to see our way out of this gloom.
By Ken Jenkins
It was early 2005. It was a time of malaise, of vague apprehension, of depression, of disbelief, of foreboding and dread. It was the time after Bush&Co stole yet another election and we faced 4 more years of an ongoing, ever-darkening nightmare. It was long enough after the election to have moved beyond the shock and denial, but not far enough to have fully accepted and grokked our predicament, or to have the foggiest idea what the heck to do next.
We wonder, wouldn’t that other Iraq war supporter Kerry have been better than this?
No. In the long run, things might have been worse.
Is there any light in this seemingly perpetual tunnel of gloom?
Yes. But a long-term view is required to see far enough down the abyss to see that glimmer of hope.
Let me explain. We would all like a quick turnaround to this ominous and menacing nightmare. But Kerry would have lulled too many folks back to sleep. And that is not a good thing. The spiral of social-political evolution would have slowed to a creep. As apathy increased, we would have been back in the doldrums, directionless, going nowhere at a crawl. Crisis is not a good time to go back to sleep.…Continue reading

The attacks of 9/11 were so unthinkable that most Americans would refuse to believe the complicity of their own government, even if presented with a mountain of evidence.
Very simply, it is possible to escape blame if you do something that nobody in the world believes you could do.
When I was 11 years old I sat next to my friend and fellow class clown Jeffery, quietly thinking of ways to torture the unsuspecting substitute teacher. Jeffery and I were competing comedians, always trying to “get over” on each other in school. Jeffery was good and there were no limits to what he would do.
On this particular day we sat next to each other, sharing one of the double desks with which Brooklyn school children of the 70′s were so familiar. As our unsuspecting substitute turned his back to write something on the black board, Jeffery raised his arm and launched all his own books across the room in the direction opposite from where I was seated, immediately turning towards me with a look of horror and shock plastered on his face. The teacher, alarmed by the noise of the book launching, spun around only to see Jeffery’s books scattered around the room. His loose leaf binder had opened up and produced an explosion of confetti in the form of notes and homework sheets.
A quick glance our way by the teacher brought into view a shocked Jeffery, who appeared to be the victim, sitting right next to me and staring at me with an expression of, “What the hell did you just do?” splashed on his face.…Continue reading

David Ray Griffin asks the tough questions about Sept. 11, contending U.S. officials had some knowledge of what was coming and possibly orchestrated the attacks.
Griffin, whose book, “The New Pearl Harbor: Disturbing Questions About the Bush Administration and 9/11,” came out a year ago, drew an enthusiastic standing ovation from the majority of the 400 or so people who packed his lecture Monday night at Bascom Hall.
A retired Christian theologian, Griffin, 65, taught for more than 30 years at the Claremont School of Theology in California.
His comments Monday night were directed at religious people, who he said need to respond to Sept. 11 – and the American empire that has ensued – based on the moral principles of their religious traditions.
Drawing laughter from the crowd, Griffin said he had in mind principles like: “Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors’ oil” and “Thou shalt not murder thy neighbors in order to steal their oil.”
While Griffin noted that his books and talks have not received attention from the mainstream media, C-SPAN had a cameraman at the event and plans to air the lecture at a future date. Madison’s public access cable television station, WYOU-TV/Channel 4, meanwhile, will air the talk at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Americans interpret the events of Sept. 11 in one of four ways, Griffin said:

Despite repeated Bush administration claims that it had no inkling prior to 9/11 that terrorists might use airplanes in suicide missions on American soil, the New York Times reported that the FAA received 52 intelligence reports referencing Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda in the months before September 11. What’s more, the FAA warnings were documented in detail by the bipartisan 9/11 Commission almost six months ago — well before the November election. Over the objection of the Commission, the Bush administration classified this particular report and delayed its release.
While the 9/11 Commission submitted its “complete” report on the events leading up to the 2001 attacks on August 26, 2004, crucial sections of the report were not declassified and made available to the public until January 28, 2005 — less than 48 hours after Condoleezza Rice was confirmed as Secretary of State. (In sworn testimony before the Commission, Rice categorically dismissed the idea that the Bush administration received warnings that hijacked airplanes could be used to attack American targets.)
The bipartisan 9/11 Commission was created in the wake of our national tragedy to rise above partisan politics and tackle the tough questions vital to keeping our citizens safe from terrorist attack. The Congressional Committee on Government Reform should hold hearings to determine whether the Bush Administration improperly classified findings from the Commission to protect key administration officials from scrutiny and influence voters in an election year.

My friend Dennis Kyne wrote a song that we recorded together while he was staying at my home in January. He was in Baton Rouge in order to attend, and to speak at, the “Jazz Funeral For Democracy” in New Orleans, a counter-inaugural demonstration that activists from south Louisiana had organized.
The song is called “All We Want Is the Truth.”
Dennis is a Gulf War vet, and was a medic with the front-line 24th Infantry in 1991. I am an older volunteer infantry vet, one who spent 32 months overseas, from 1971 to 1974, serving this country as an occupation soldier. We are patriots.
The truth. It’s not too much for a soldier or vet to ask for, particularly when the subject is whether or not our nation goes to war.
As many of us – those who actually tried to stop the occupation of Iraq before it got started – watched this tragedy unfold, what we saw… Continue reading
Dear 9/11 truth activists and concerned citizens,
Below is an email exchange between Dr. David Ray Griffin and myself, where Dr. Griffin suggests a strategy for the 9/11 truth movement. I found it thoughtful as well as inspiring, and so I asked him if I could share it publicly. He said yes, and so here it is. I hope it inspires you as much as it does me. If so, please consider buying his new book, The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions. It is unquestionably the best book to open people’s eyes–even better than his first book. This is definitely the one to give to your relatives and co-workers. Here’s the link:
Also, we still have available the new 1-hour DVD of Dr. Griffin speaking in Santa Rosa, California. We are offering these as a complimentary gift for a donation of $20 or more. (No extra shipping costs.) Like the book, this DVD is an excellent gift for someone new to 9/11 truth. We particularly encourage you to get both of them and send them to people you know in other countries, for as Dr. Griffin states in his email below, “the best hope is for an international tribunal.” Here is the link for the DVD:
Thanks, and may peace and truth prevail.

Call to action Urge your representative to call on the Committee on

whether the Bush administration delayed the release of findings by the

I was alarmed to read that despite repeated Bush administration claims

Equally disturbing is the fact that the report calls into question the

it be a mere coincidence that the Bush administration’s declassification
of the report came less than 48 hours after Rice was confirmed as
Secretary of State?

To the 9/11 Truth activist community,
I began writing this letter before David Ray Griffin wrote his opinion on how the movement should proceed. Having just read his thoughts I am more convinced that I need to share my views. I read his first book on the topic, The New Pearl Harbor. Obviously I believe that he understands the problems with the official story. He was able to create a compelling account for someone who was interested in learning. However; I disagree that the strategy we should employ is to make our argument with evidence.
The story is in fact very simple. Our failure to reach large segments of the population is not a failure of evidence selection or presentation – did we emphasize the right loophole in the government’s official story? Or as Dr. Griffin suggests; did we emphasize the best outright government lie? etc. The problem is much different than that.
Dr Griffin clearly pointed out major problems with the official story in his first book, pointing out more problems will not increase our base (or at least not increase it most efficiently) because those who are going to consider the first points made in his book will be the same people to consider further points.
More importantly those who as yet WOULD NOT consider points from his first book will not change their orientation with more minutia. Below in the following letter I try to explain what I believe must happen, what must change in the… Continue reading

Sure, the people with the 9/11 conspiracy theories are a little odd. But not everything they’re saying is entirely crazy.
THE GRAND LAKE Theater in Oakland was filled almost to capacity March 10, just as the Guild Theatre in Menlo Park was the night before and the Herbst Theatre in San Francisco would be the next night, all for a documentary with bad production values and even worse leaps of logic.
This was the local premiere of The Great Conspiracy: The 9/11 News Special You Never Saw, a benefit screening for the Northern California 9/11 Truth Alliance, whose activists have been laboring for more than three years to dispel popular belief in the government’s version of the events on that fateful day.
And to fill that void, they offer a wide variety of alternative theories, carefully laid out in the dozens of books and DVDs that local truth-movement leader Carol Brouillet sold from a table in the theater lobby, or in the hundreds of Web sites devoted to debunking the official story.
Brouillet is what most people think of when they use the term “conspiracy theorist.” Ever since she saw the Oliver Stone film JFK — which she describes as her moment of awakening — she has been trafficking in the dark world of a shadow government executing secret plots. She’s been gathering every relevant document she can find, meticulously connecting every dot into an elaborate proof.
It is a worldview in which… Continue reading

Tired of waiting for the Second Coming to enforce Christ’s rule on Earth? Fortunately, so is your Congress and they know how to “bring it on.”
Just when you thought the corporatist/Christian Coalition had milked the 9/11 “surprise” for all it was worth in powers, profits and votes, we regret to report that you may have to think again. Just in case you’ve briefly fallen behind on your rightwing mailing lists, you might have missed the March 3rd filing of Senate bill S. 520 and House version is H.R. 1070, AKA the “Constitution Restoration Act” (CRA).
In the worshipful words of the Conservative Caucus, this historic legislation will “RESTORE OUR CONSTITUTION!”, mainly by barring ANY federal court or judge from ever again reviewing “any matter to the extent that relief is sought against an entity of Federal, State, or local government, or against an officer or agent of Federal, State, or local government (whether or not acting in official or personal capacity), concerning that entity’s, officer’s, or agent’s acknowledgment of God as the sovereign source of law, liberty, or government.” [Emphasis demanded - see full text here.]
In other words, the bill ensures that God’s divine word (and our infallible leaders’ interpretation thereof) will hereafter trump all our pathetic democratic notions about freedom, law and rights — and our courts can’t say a thing. This, of… Continue reading

I’d like to share the following:
Report from United for Peace & Justice in St. Louis, Missouri:
This is a brief report from the 3 day National Assembly of United for Peace & Justice attended by 7 core 9-11 activists (Ken Jenkins, Gabriel Day, Becky Medcalf, Steve Cassilly, Janice Matthews, Mike Berger and Phylis Gilbert). We had excellent locations in the resource room and had constant multimedia presentations playing at our booths.
The quote by Steve Biko “The most potent weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed” is very appropriate for summing up how challenging it is to reach out to those that should be our natural allies.
Despite early signs of support within Saturday’s plenary discussion and voting on our proposal on Monday our proposal was soundly defeated by the majority of the UPJ delegates. My sense of those voting against us is that they believe in the “blowback” theory of 9-11 and feel there is little political mileage to be made from further pursuit the unanswered questions surrounding 9-11. Most progressives unfortunately believe in the 9-11 theory of “blow back” – that real terrorist that hate us attacked us. I wish this were true and the rabbit hole didn’t go as deep as I have found it to be! They are more concerned with the ending of the current hot conflict in Iraq and still fail to see the huge potential to derail the whole… Continue reading
A wise meditation on tactics and approaches for the months ahead. We quibble a bit with Malaprop’s see/hear/speak-no-evil advice re 9/11 disinfo and dunces, but agree that simply distancing oneself from the phony theories is usually better than noisy demonization. Still we do occasionally have to show that we too can tell wheat from chaff.

EVERYTHING points to a frame-up, complicity–you name it. There is enough evidence for them to swing from a rope a 100 times. The problem is getting a real investigation, a courtroom. At this point IMHO, all of our time would be better spent in learning interviewee skills under hostile conditions.
Furthermore, anyone who cannot keep their temper, and has so little self-control, is a ball and chain that I don’t want to have to depend on to save this country. I don’t want to mess with loose cannons. The way I feel is I have no time for, nor do I have interest in baby-sitting somebody whose ego outweighs the objective of saving this country. One is to just put their ego in a box out of sight for a year.
Remember I said our problem is getting into a courtroom? What do you do if they are all corrupt, being blackmailed, or terrified? And to depend on any official now, no matter how persuasive one’s evidence, is more a matter of form, that reasonable expectation.
There’s just an awful lot of ways… Continue reading

Red states and blue states, the heartland versus the decadent city. Like many, I’m wary of these too-easy distinctions for the political effects they create, and the illusion of a homogeneous religious movement based on so-called “family values.” But, living in central Virginia for the past few years, if in the admittedly “blue” town of Charlottesville, I knew that the politics of the Christian right were very real, and very serious factors in people’s visions of what America should be. If I wasn’t sure what places were not being claimed as part of the far-right religious and colonial project, I could be sure of some places that were. So, along with two friends, I went to Lynchburg, Virginia, a buckle in the Bible-belt, where Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University is but one of many far-right religious institutions.
Among outreach programs sponsored by evangelical Christians in recent years, there has been a proliferation of entertaining religious performances. These performances provide enjoyment and titillation for church members, and a kind of outreach to non-members, or, as they refer to the non-born-again, non-Christians. While many of these performances are locally based and produced on a modest budget, there’s also a booming industry of evangelistic Christian corporations that capitalize on the growing sense of crisis in late modern American life. Among these corporations is “Judgement (sic) House,” (a trademarked name) developed by Clearwater, Florida-based New Creation Evangelism, Inc. Begun in the early 1980s, Judgement House’s stated goal is to appeal to teenagers, who according to their website, are “the targets in an intense spiritual battle where eternity is at stake.”

The need to immediately stop political support for the wars on Iraqis, Afghanis, our people here at home and the “War on Terror” as a whole. Specifically, our need for a thoughtful strategy to shut down the political power fueling the entire corporate war machine, a strategy which strikes at the root of that power, and doesn”t scatter our time and energy reacting to its countless symptoms in the field.
Given the momentum and added troop strength of the corporate forces now in power, we will face unending appeals this year to help combat firestorms on many different fronts.
Already we are struggling to prioritize our efforts to stop war atrocities, torture-apologist appointments, escalating Pentagon appropriations, horrific new weapons, the resurrection of Star Wars, and an apparently imminent draft, not to mention environmental assaults, our ballooning debt, attacks on our rights, the slashing of the social safety net, and a dozen other symptoms spinning out of the sickness at the top.
Alternatively we could step back a pace or two and see where all this carnage connects and focus on a strategy that might stop it all… Continue reading

The Hearst-owned Popular Mechanics magazine takes aim at the 9/11 Truth Movement with a cover story in its March 2005 edition. Sandwiched between ads and features for monster trucks, Nascar paraphenelia, and off-road racing are twelve dense and brilliantly designed pages purporting to debunk the myths of 9/11.
The article’s approach is to identify the 9/11 skeptics movement with a series of mostly physical-evidence issues, while entirely ignoring vast bodies of evidence that only insiders had the means, motive, and opportunity to carry out the attack.
The article gives no hint of the put options on the targeted airlines, warnings received by government and corporate officials, complicit behavior by top officials, obstruction of justice by a much larger group, or obvious frauds in the official story. Instead it attacks a mere 16 claims of its choosing, which it asserts are the “most prevalent” among “conspiracy theorists.” The claims are grouped into themes which cover some of the subjects central to the analysis of 9-11 Research. However, for each theme, the article presents specious claims to divert the reader from understanding the issue. For example, the three pages devoted to attacking the Twin Towers’ demolition present three red-herring claims and avoid the dozens of points I feature in my presentations, such as the Twin Towers’ Demolition.
