The Pentagon has dropped charges against a Saudi citizen alleged to have been
the "20th hijacker" in the 11 September 2001 attacks on the US.
Mohammad al-Qahtani was one of six Guantánamo Bay inmates charged with murder
and war crimes in February.
The Pentagon said the case against the other five defendants would proceed.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against the suspects in a case before
military tribunals at the US prison camp in Guantánamo Bay.
A Pentagon official said the charges against Mohammad al-Qahtani had been dropped
"without prejudice", meaning they could be reinstated.
The US military gave no reason for its decision.
But lawyers for the defendant say they believe the charges were dropped because
he "was tortured" under interrogation.
The decision could have implications for the other five suspects, whose lawyers
claim that similar treatment was meted out to them, the BBC’s Adam Brookes reports
Authorities say Mr Qahtani failed to take part in the 9/11 attacks because
he was denied entry into the US by an immigration official.
He was refused entry at Orlando in Florida in August 2001 and returned to Dubai.
He was later detained in Afghanistan and transferred to Guantánamo Bay.
In 2006, he recanted accusations he had made against fellow detainees of having
links to al-Qaeda.
His lawyer told Time magazine the statements had been extracted under torture.
The Saudi was reportedly submitted to stress positions, sleep deprivation and
humiliation at Guantánamo.
Officials said he had been subjected… Continue reading

Continuing the 9/11 conversation.
Mike Malloy dedicated the second hour of his program to an intervew with David Ray Griffin. A wide-ranging talk about 911.
(If you support what Malloy is doing, consider becoming a NovaM Founder if you can afford it.)
We have one of our rare guests on tonight’s program. Philosopher/theologian Dr. David Ray Griffin will join us for a discussion of the events prior to the bombings and terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Those familiar with the 9/11 Truth Movement are well acquainted with Dr. Griffin and his points of view regarding those horrific acts against the people of the United States. As reported at wikipedia.com:
Following the September 11, 2001 attacks, David Ray Griffin moved his focus from questions of philosophy and religion to ones of politics and history, specifically “American expansionism and imperialism”. He intended to write a book on the subject, presenting 9/11 in terms of “blowback” for aggressive United States foreign policies of the 20th century: “Until the spring of 2003, I had not looked at any of the evidence. I was vaguely aware there were people, at least on the Internet, who were offering evidence against the official account of 9/11… I knew the US government had ‘fabricated’ evidence to go to war several times before. Nevertheless… I did not take this possibility seriously… I was so confident that they must be wrong.”
After reading the work of Paul… Continue reading

This is the ONE interview of Jesse Ventura which stands out from his Corporate Media battles; herein the ex-Governor is welcomed and given a forum uninterrupted by corporate advertisements. Jesse “the Mind” engages in a fluid and thought-provoking discussion; proving that our best potential candidates for President are still waiting for the American Public to recognize the inconsistencies in economic and foreign policies which are eroding the very fabric of what we love about America.” 69 min – May 1, 2008, posted by 8th Estate Media & Research – www.8thestate.com
11.9- The truth movement is often laughed at for criticizing the Bush government’s answer to what happened on 11th September 2001. Now however, the recognized historian, Daniele Ganser gives legitimacy to the skeptics.
by Kristin Aalen
CONSPIRACY: Ganser has caused debate following the presentation of his view in an interview with the Swiss TV-channel, U1. There he repeated his arguments from an article he wrote in the Swiss newspaper, Tages-Anzeiger in Zürich in September 2006.
Ganser’s premise is that conspiracies are nothing unusual or new in the field of historical research. At least since the assassination of Julius Caesar in classical Rome more than 2000 years ago, conspiracies have been an element of the political fight for influence and power.
He defines a conspiracy as, “a secret agreement between two or more persons to engage in a criminal act.”
He continues: “As 9/11 was a criminal act which was definitively not planned and carried out by one single person alone but by at least two or more persons who agreed on the plan before it was implemented, 9/11 must be classified as a conspiracy.”
MOST CORRECT? “It is important to stress that all theories about 9/11 are conspiracy theories. Once we realize that none of the theories can be dismissed on the grounds that it is a ‘conspiracy theory’, the real question becomes: Which conspiracy theory correctly describes the 9/11 conspiracy?” asks Ganser.
The historian thereby is in disagreement with the many who laugh at the critics… Continue reading

WASHINGTON — A new U.N. Human Rights Council official assigned to monitor
Israel is calling for an official commission to study the role neoconservatives
may have played in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
On March 26, Richard Falk, Milbank professor of international law emeritus
at Princeton University, was named by unanimous vote to a newly created position
to report on human rights in the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian
Arabs. While Mr. Falk’s specialty is human rights and international law, since
the attacks in 2001, he has devoted some of his time to challenging what he
calls the "9-11 official version."
On March 24 in an interview with a radio host and former University of Wisconsin
instructor, Kevin Barrett, Mr. Falk said, "It is possibly true that especially
the neoconservatives thought there was a situation in the country and in the
world where something had to happen to wake up the American people. Whether
they are innocent about the contention that they made that something happen
or not, I don’t think we can answer definitively at this point. All we can say
is there is a lot of grounds for suspicion, there should be an official investigation
of the sort the 9/11 commission did not engage in and that the failure to do
these things is cheating the American people and in some sense the people of
the world of a greater confidence in what really happened than they presently

Its headline news that top Democrats are asking Attorney General Mukasey to explain his comments about a pre-9/11 phone call from a terrorist to the United States.
Why doesn’t Congress ask Mukasey some real questions. For example:

* Mr. Attorney General, since the U.S. government knew the date and method of the 9/11 attacks, why weren’t the attacks stopped?
* Mr. Mukasey, because the government heard the 9/11 plans from the hijackers’ own mouths, why wasn’t anything done to stop them?
* Sir, since U.S. and allied intelligence services had penetrated the very highest levels of Al Qaeda prior to 9/11, why wasn’t 9/11 stopped?
* U.S. and allied intelligence services seem to have actually employed or at least protected many of the hijackers prior to 9/11. Uh . . . why did they do that?

Even if you (unlike the military leaders, intelligence professionals, scientists,
engineers, and other highly-credible people who question 9/11) do not believe
that elements within the U.S. government intentionally aided and abetted the September
11 attacks, or let them happen on purpose, you have to admit that the government
failed to do its job of protecting the American people.
For example, 9/11 was completely foreseeable. U.S. and allied intelligence
services had penetrated the very highest levels of Al Qaeda prior to 9/11 and
heard the hijackers’ plans from their own mouths.
However, even the 9/11 Commission found that the Bush administration did nothing
to prevent the attacks. For example, 9/11 Commissioner Bob Kerrey said:
president says, if I had only known that 19 Islamic men would come into the
United States of America and on the morning of 11 September hijack four American
aircraft, fly two into the World Trade Center, one into the Pentagon, and
one into an unknown Pennsylvania that crashed in Shanksville, I would have
moved heaven and earth. That’s what he said.
Mr. President, you don’t need to know that. This is an Islamic jihadist movement
that has been organized since the early 1990s, declared war on the United
States twice, in ’96 and ’98. You knew they were in the United States.
You were warned by the CIA. You knew in July they were inside the United States.
You were told again by briefing officers in August… Continue reading

David Ray Griffin provides more food for thought with the release of his 5th single-author book on the events of September the 11th… 9/11 Contradictions.
Soon, we will be seven years away from an event scorched into our collective consciousness, (and collective unconscious), but for those of us who have taken the time to revisit that day in our memories and in various forms of media: audio, video, the written word… it hasn’t put seven years of distance between us and 9/11, rather, 9/11 has become a historical event known in intimate detail by students in a global, open-university setting.
The faculty members in this university are at a certain disadvantage. Rather than working in a symbiotic manner with an academic establishment that is generally supportive of the goal of education, the faculty is not allowed access to key information which is necessary to form the curriculum, the faculty has no budget, no tenure, and if you have a general grasp of some 9/11 issues, you can hang a shingle on your door claiming that you are a professor in the university, and the genuine faculty members are stuck with you until your shaky hypothesis is thoroughly shredded by a colleague who just can’t take it anymore.
However, some of the… Continue reading

A letter has been sent by leaders of the House Judiciary Committee to Attorney
General Michael Mukasey, demanding that he explain a recent public statement
that federal authorities failed to intercept a call from suspected terrorists
in Afghanistan prior to the 9/11 attacks, when doing so could have prevented
the attacks from taking place.
Mukasey blamed that failure on a lack of the sort of warrantless wiretapping
authority that the administration has now called on Congress to provide. However,
there has never been any previous mention of such a call, and the Judiciary
Committee letter — signed by Chairman John Conyers and two subcommittee chairs
— points out that the law that existed at the time would have allowed the call
to be intercepted immediately, with permission granted retroactively by the
That letter has been noted by blogs, such as Talking Points Memo, but does
not appear to have gained any attention from the mainstream media.
Blogger Glenn Greenwald, who has covered the Mukasey incident extensively,
originally believed that “he just made this up out of whole cloth in order
to mislead Americans into supporting the administration’s efforts to eliminate
spying safeguards and basic constitutional liberties and to stifle the pending
surveillance lawsuits against telecoms.”
However, Greenwald has now received an email from the Department of Justice’s
Principal Deputy Director of Public Affairs, citing both a reference by a 2002
Congressional Joint Inquiry to an untraced call between one of the 9/11 hijackers… Continue reading

Last Monday, March 31st, a historic event occurred. A conference call was held that involved a list of great American heroes, who have put everything on the line to protect their nation’s democracy. It was meaningful this occurred the same month as HBO’s release of John Adams.
A decision was made — April 16-22nd will be a WEEK of TRUTH !!
All are invited to get involved, by spreading the word on this event, as well as participating in the national “buy-in for truth week,” to finally break thru the corporate media blockade of 9/11 questions, at www.WeekofTruth.org
“. . . they [the majority of Americans] shall come to realize what I now realize… that the 9/11 Truth Movement are the real patriots in 21st century America!”

This auspicious group came together to strategize how to collect the many powerful aspects of the growing movement pushing for answers to the endless unanswered questions around 9/11’s attacks, into one mass focused week of action. The goal . . . to break through the years of frustration with the (media) fourth estate’s betrayal of American democracy through their ongoing censoring of the questions regarding the increasingly obvious official myth of 9/11, which defies physics, logic, and FAA/DOD… Continue reading

Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura vehemently savaged the official 9/11 story on
a syndicated national radio show today, saying the WTC collapsed like a controlled
demolition and was pulverized to dust as he also highlighted the impossible 10
second free fall speed of the towers.
Ventura said that his initial reaction to
9/11 was much like most people at the time, and he accepted the official story
outright, a response he now regrets because he was in a position of power and
could have used it to raise a lot of pointed questions.
Jesse Ventura has had many lives–as a Navy SEAL, as a star of pro wrestling, as an actor, and as the governor of Minnesota. His previous books, I Ain’t Got Time to Bleed and Do I Stand Alone?, were both national bestsellers. Don’t Start the Revolution Without Me is the story of his controversial gubernatorial years and his life since deciding not to seek a second term as governor in 2002. Written with award-winning author Dick Russell at a secluded location on Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, Ventura’s new book reveals for the first time why he left politics–and why he is now considering reentering the arena with a possible independent run for the presidency in 2008.
In a fast-paced and often humorous narrative, Ventura pulls no punches in discussing our corrupt two-party system, the disastrous war in Iraq,… Continue reading
David Ray Griffin on the 9/11 Truth Movement and Bush-Cheney’s “stupid” imperialism
By Matthew Singer
When David Ray Griffin conceived his first book regarding the events of Sept. 11, 2001, his interpretation of what transpired that day revolved around the concept of blowback, that the attacks were a byproduct of America’s decades of aggressive foreign policy toward the Middle East. In short, at the time, he bought the official story of 9/11. He wasn’t letting the United States government off the hook for their role in the attacks, but he wasn’t placing culpability where he would eventually place it: squarely on the shoulders of the Bush administration.
While researching for that first book, Griffin came across a growing community — concentrated mostly online — of people questioning the circumstances of Sept. 11 as reported by the mainstream media. Now, the retired professor, theologian and longtime Santa Barbara resident is one the leading voices of the so-called 9/11 Truth Movement, citizens who believe the horror of that day was not caused by radical Islamic terrorists but was orchestrated within the walls of the White House. Derided in the press as loony conspiracy theorists (if given any attention at all), the group, Griffin says, now includes intellectuals such as himself, as well as architects, engineers, pilots, former military officers and even ex-CIA operatives.
“The change in the movement has been rather drastic, because a few years back, people would dismiss us as a bunch of crazies on the Internet. And then… Continue reading

In August 2007, Congressman Peter DeFazio, a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, told the House that he and the rest of his Committee had been barred from reviewing parts of National Security Presidential Directive 51, the White House supersecret plans to implement so-called “Continuity of Government” in the event of a mass terror attack or natural disaster. ( 1 )
Norm Ornstein, of the conservative American Enterprise Institute, commented, “I cannot think of one good reason” for denial. Ornstein added, “I find it inexplicable and probably reflective of the usual, knee-jerk overextension of executive power that we see from this White House.” ( 2 )
The story, ignored by the mainstream press, involved more than the usual tussle between the legislative and executive branches of the U.S. Government. What was at stake was a contest between Congress’s constitutional powers of oversight, and a set of policy plans that could be used to suspend or modify the constitution.
There is nothing wrong with disaster planning per se. Like all governments, the U.S. government must develop plans for the worst contingencies. But Congress has a right to be concerned about Continuity of Government (COG) plans refined by Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld over the past quarter century, which journalists have described as involving suspension of the constitution. ( 3 )
In the 1980s, a secret group of planners inside and outside the government were assigned, by an Executive Order, to develop a response to a nuclear… Continue reading

“The Commission” by Philip Shenon has performed a great public service, letting the world know that there are good reasons to be suspicious of “The 9/11 Commission Report.” The main problem is the fact that the Commission was almost entirely under the control of Philip Zelikow, who was closely connected to the Bush White House. Although my book “Christian Faith and the Truth behind 9/11″ revealed some of the facts about Zelikow that showed him to be one of the worst possible choices for the Commission’s executive director, Shenon has revealed even more facts.
It was already known that Zelikow had been on the National Security Council (NSC) with Condoleezza Rice during the administration of the first President Bush; that he wrote a book with her while the Republicans were out of power; that he helped her make the transition from the Clinton to the Bush NSC; and that he wrote at her request the 2002 version of “National Security Strategy of the United States of America” (NSS 2002), which enunciated a new doctrine of preemptive war that was used, in Shenon’s words, to “justify a preemptive strike on Iraq.”
But now Shenon reveals more: that in applying to Thomas Kean and Lee Hamilton, the co-chairs of the 9/11 Commission, for the position of executive director, Zelikow failed to reveal some of his conflicts of interest, especially his authorship of NSS 2002 and his role on the transition team; that he continued, contrary to his promise,… Continue reading
