Interview With the Staff of GateCreepers.com

John-Michael Talboo (JMT)-Q:

GateCreepers.com is a collection of original articles devoted to debunking myths on conspiracy theories, exposing propaganda techniques of the mainstream media and government, exploring concepts such as the hive mind, and other such topics which dumb down the population and keep us in servitude. The site is also devoted to debunking the debunkers of several specific topics including 9/11 and the JFK assassination, our brother from another mother so to speak!

I have found that when debating people on the subject of government complicity in 9/11 they very often seem to be referring to one of the 48 myths about conspiracy theories discussed in your article, Debunking Myths on Conspiracy Theories, almost as if it was their playbook. This of course makes it a very good debating tool, as you can just say, well thanks for bringing up debunked myth #16 about conspiracy theories, next. An example of this can be found in the comments of a short post I put together for this blog in which I questioned whether Noam Chomsky had indeed dispelled 9/11 conspiracies with sheer logic. I would hazard a guess that type of result brings a smile to your writing team.

Did that article, or the site in general come about due to seeing these tired, often media propagated, talking points being parroted during personal debates? If not, how did it… Continue reading

Judge defends pretrial secrecy of 9/11 documents

By LARRY NEUMEISTER
Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) — NEW YORK — A judge said Wednesday he favors keeping Sept. 11-related documents and interviews secret until the trials for several families of victims suing the airline industry, an opinion that upset several victims’ family members.

Donald Migliori, a lawyer for families of three people who died on hijacked planes in the 2001 attacks, asked U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein to make nearly a million pages of evidence and 200 depositions public, saying there was no reason for secrecy.

Hellerstein did not rule, but he said he favored not publically disclosing evidence that had been gathered and shared with lawyers for the victims under a confidentiality agreement until a trial occurs. No trial has yet been scheduled.

He said the confidentiality agreement speeded a pretrial process that enabled more than 90 families of victims of the Sept. 11 attacks to settle their cases. Only three families have not settled.

Michael Rowe Feagley, a lawyer for the aviation defendants, said it would not be fair to make all of the pretrial evidence public now, especially since defendants had turned over so much with the understanding that it would remain confidential before trial. He said it would take “extraordinary circumstances and an extreme need for it” to force its public release.

Mike Low, the father of a flight attendant who died on one of the hijacked planes, said afterwards that he was disappointed but not surprised by Hellerstein’s position.

Low sued in spring 2003 on behalf of his daughter, Sara Low, 28, a Boston-based flight attendant who died when American Airlines Flight 11 struck the World Trade Center.…

Oral arguments slated over Sept. 11 documents

by Rory Eastburg
March 24, 2009
Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press

A Manhattan federal court will hear oral arguments Wednesday on whether more
than a million pages of documents related to the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks
should remain sealed.

Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein of the United States District Court in New York
City will hear arguments from The New York Times and the Reporters
Committee, as well as victims’ families and attorneys for the aviation industry
defendants.

The documents come from lawsuits the families of certain Sept. 11 victims brought
against airlines and related defendants. According to a statement from the plaintiffs’
attorneys, more than a million documents remain sealed by an overbroad protective
order that allowed the defendants to unilaterally designate vast numbers of
documents as containing confidential trade secrets.

Neither the victims’ families nor the media groups seek to unseal documents
the government has classified as containing “Sensitive Security Information.”

Attorneys for the victims’ families are seeking to set aside the blanket
designations of confidentiality, arguing that documents withheld as trade secrets
include such important information as “whether the airport screeners’
magnetometers were working on 9/11; whether the screeners were qualified for
their jobs in terms of language skills, citizenship, past criminal record and
other factors; video footage of the hijackers going through airport security;
and training manuals for screeners.”

The Times, on behalf of itself and the Reporters Committee, intervened
for the limited purpose of requesting access to the sealed documents. In a motion
filed on Jan.…

9/11 victims’ kin seek release of secret documents

By Joe Dwinell
Wednesday, March 25, 2009
News.BostonHerald.com

Three families who lost loved ones in the 9/11 terrorist attacks head to court
today to plead with a federal judge to release a million pages of documents
detailing the mass murder of nearly 3,000 Americans.

Those secret papers, one Bay State family member told the Herald, are “so
bad you won’t believe it.”

“It was out control,” Paul Keating, 45, said of security on Sept.
11, 2001, including at Logan International Airport in Boston where two ill-fated
jets left on a collision course with infamy.

“My mother went through the most public murder you could imagine . .
. and I’ve been putting up with this crap for seven years,” Keating
said of his refusal to settle his case out of court.

Keating’s 72-year-old mother, Barbara, a Framingham native, died aboard
American Airlines [AMR] Flight 11.

Keating is making legal history today, along with the families of Mark Bavis,
31, and Sara Low, 28, by asking Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein in Federal District
Court in Manhattan to lift the order keeping all the evidence hidden.

Low was a Boston-based flight attendant on Flight 11; Bavis of West Newton,
a passenger on United Airlines Flight 175. Both jets left Logan with hijackers
on board and were slammed into the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers.

“Sept. 11 should not have happened,” said attorney Donald A. Migliori,
whose firm represents all three families.

He said the secret papers include depositions of former Massport Executive… Continue reading

To All Readers: Help Force Congress To Observe the Law on National Emergencies!!!

Peter Dale Scott and Dan Hamburg

On 9/11 the Bush administration declared a State of Emergency (SOE), which was formally proclaimed on September 14, 2001, and extended by Bush repeatedly thereafter, most recently on August 28, 2008. 1 Under cover of this SOE, Bush secretly enacted many extreme measures, ranging from suspension of habeas corpus to preparations for martial law in America; all these were undertaken as part of secret so-called “Continuity of Government” (COG) procedures associated with the SOE, and first instituted on 9/11. 2 and 3

The National Emergencies Act, one of the post-Watergate reforms so detested by Vice-President Cheney, requires specifically that

Not later than six months after a national emergency is declared, and not later than the end of each six-month period thereafter that such emergency continues, each House of Congress shall meet to consider a vote on a joint resolution to determine whether that emergency shall be terminated. (50 U.S.C. 1622 (2002) 4

Last fall one of us appealed on the Internet for the Democrats in Congress to take this statutorily required step, and also to learn what secret COG measures were being enacted under the SOE. 5 There was no response.

In February 2009 we sent to officials in Washington the following appeal to consider terminating the State of Emergency. The appeal was sent to President Obama’s staff in the White House, and to the staff of Nancy Pelosi, Peter DeFazio, and Dennis Kucinich in Congress. Almost two months have passed, and there has not yet been any response from the addressees.…

Leader of Serb death squads ‘was top CIA agent’

SERBIA: Gabriel Ronay
Sunday Herald (Scotland)

March 22, 2009

THE LATE President Milosevic’s secret police chief and organiser of Serb death
squads during the genocidal ethnic cleansing of disintegrating Yugoslavia was
the United States’ top CIA agent in Belgrade, according to the independent Belgrade
Radio B92.

The claim that from 1992 until the end of the decade, Jovica Stanisic, head
of Serbia’s murderous DB Secret Police, was regularly informing his CIA handlers
of the thinking in Milosevic’s inner circle has shocked the region.

Stanisic is said to have loyally served his two masters for eight years. He
is facing war crimes charges at the International Criminal Court at The Hague.

In the terrifying years of Yugoslavia’s internecine wars, he acted as the willing
“muscle” behind Milosevic’s genocidal campaigns in Croatia, Kosovo
and Bosnia, including Sebrenica.

According to the charges he faces, Stanisic was “part of a joint criminal
enterprise that included former Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic and other
Serbian politicians”.

Dermot Groome, The Hague’s chief prosecutor, has specifically accused him of
sending in the Serb Scorpion and Red Beret death squads into the states seeking
independence from Belgrade. Stanisic has pleaded not guilty.

Like in a Cold War spy thriller, Serbia’s secret police chief met his CIA handlers
in safe houses, parks and boats on the river Sava to betray his master’s action
plans. He provided, it is claimed, information on the whereabouts of Nato hostages,
aided CIA operatives in their search for Muslim mass graves and helped the US… Continue reading

Historical Archives Lead to Arrest of Police Officers in Guatemalan Disappearance

Declassified documents show U.S. Embassy knew that Guatemalan security forces were behind wave of abductions of students and labor leaders.

National Security Archive calls for release of military files and investigation into intellectual authors of the 1984 abduction of Fernando García and other disappearances

(See many significant related postings at the source.)

Washington, DC, March 17, 2009 — Following a stunning breakthrough in a 25-year-old case of political terror in Guatemala, the National Security Archive today is posting declassified U.S. documents about the disappearance of Edgar Fernando García, a student leader and trade union activist captured by Guatemalan security forces in 1984. The documents show that García’s capture was an organized political abduction orchestrated at the highest levels of the Guatemalan government.

Guatemalan authorities made the first arrest ever in the long-dormant kidnapping case when they detained Héctor Roderico Ramírez Ríos, a senior police officer in Quezaltenango, on March 5th and retired policeman Abraham Lancerio Gómez on March 6th as a result of an investigation into García’s abduction by Guatemala’s Human Rights Prosecutor (Procurador de Derechos Humanos–PDH). Arrest warrants have been issued for two more suspects, Hugo Rolando Gómez Osorio and Alfonso Guillermo de León Marroquín. The two are former officers with the notorious Special Operations Brigade (BROE) of the National Police, a unit linked to death squad activities during the 1980s by… Continue reading

Investigate 9/11

Vic
Sadot reporting on No Lies Radio in the foreground

A number of 9/11 Truth activists converged from San Jose, Los Gatos, the East
Bay, the Peninsula, San Francisco to make a sizable contingent with multiple
banners and many, many signs at rally at Justin Herman Plaza and in the march.
After much police harassment at the Civic Center for attempting to attach our
large banners to trees, we broke down and bought a decent awning, so that we
could legally put up our banners, and fend off the rain. The weather report
was not promising, nor the looming clouds when I left Palo Alto at 8 am heading
north. It is hard, if not impossible to pass out flyers, and not ruin our sound
system, books, and educational materials when it is raining, and the turnout
at rallies and marches is certainly smaller when the weather is bad.

The favorite spot of the Northern California 9/11 Truth Alliance at the Civic
Center is away from the stage facing south, outside of the trees, where we generally
have hoisted a giant banner of the Deception Dollar. Often the center of the
Civic Center is full and the traffic is better on the outside. When we arrived
at the Civic Center- all of the awnings had been set up on the inside of the
trees… Continue reading

6 Years On … ‘Soldier suicides skyrocket’ and America is OUTRAGED over AIG’s paltry $159 million

Show Editor’s Note »

This week marks the beginning of the 7th year of the US war on Iraq, we’re 7-1/2 years into bombing Afghanistan, with 17,000+ more troops now headed that way thanks to the changes wrought by a new administration, and we now have US drones bombing Pakistanis at an increased rate …America is outraged, OUTRAGED, that AIG execs got $159 million (or is it now $200+ million?) of our money. Where is the outrage over the fact that we’re still spending $720 million EVERY DAY on this continuing illegal occupation of Iraq? Condoleezza Rice is again spewing nonsense : “We never tried to tie Saddam Hussein to 9/11.” W. is on the speaking circuit (yes, seriously!) talking about his “momentous” years in the Oval Office while hundreds outside the Calgary Chamber of Commerce demand his arrest as a war criminal. Cheney is still declaring victory in Iraq and proclaiming the economy is crashing because “stuff happens .”

And while these “leaders” spin in circles convincing us it’s all necessary and for the good, soldiers and civilians keep dying, keep being wounded, keep losing their homes and any semblance of a life they remember, and ultimately, keep losing hope that this will ever end. In fact, American soldiers are losing all hope to the point they’re killing themselves (and others) in greater numbers than ever. At this point, more soldiers are committing suicide than are being killed in battle (see article below that generated this passionate outcry).

Two New Tools from Electronic Freedom Foundation

EFF Releases How-To Guide to Fight Government Spying
‘Surveillance Self-Defense’ Gives Practical Advice on Protecting Your Private
Data

March 3, 2009

San Francisco – The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) launched its Surveillance
Self-Defense project today — an online how-to guide for protecting your private
data against government spying. You can find the project at ssd.eff.org.

EFF created the Surveillance Self-Defense site to educate Americans about the
law and technology of communications surveillance and computer searches and
seizures, and to provide the information and tools necessary to keep their private
data out of the government’s hands. The guide includes tips on assessing the
security risks to your personal computer files and communications, strategies
for interacting with law enforcement, and articles on specific defensive technologies
such as encryption that can help protect the privacy of your data.

“Despite a long and troubling history in this country of the government
abusing its surveillance powers, most Americans know very little about how the
law protects them or about how they can take steps to protect themselves against
government surveillance,” said EFF Senior Staff Attorney Kevin Bankston.
“The Surveillance Self-Defense project offers citizens a legal and technical
toolkit with tips on how to defend themselves in case the government attempts
to search, seize, subpoena or spy on their most private data.”

Surveillance Self-Defense details what the government can legally do to spy
on your computer data and communications, and what you can legally do to protect
yourself against such spying. It addresses how to protect not only the data
stored on your computer, but also the data you communicate over the phone or
the Internet and data about your communications that are stored by third party
service providers.…

Richard Falk: Gaza attacks “war crime of the greatest magnitude”

by Reprehensor
March 21, 2009
911blogger.com

UN envoy Richard Falk, who
wrote the foreword for David Ray Griffin’s New Pearl Harbor, and has
also praised Peter Dale Scott’s book, The Road to 9/11, was yesterday
quoted by Haaretz
speaking out strongly against Israel’s attacks in Gaza as war crimes;

A United Nations human rights investigator said on Thursday that Israel’s offensive against Hamas in densely populated Gaza appeared to constitute a war crime of the “greatest magnitude.”

Richard Falk, UN special rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories, said the Geneva Conventions required warring forces to distinguish between military targets and surrounding civilians.

“If it is not possible to do so, then launching the attacks is inherently unlawful and would seem to constitute a war crime of the greatest magnitude under international law”

Falk’s assessment is bolstered by statements from IDF soldiers, recently debriefed in Tel Aviv. This was covered last night by UK’s Channel 4;

And also covered by Russia Today, and Haaretz;

IDF in Gaza: Killing civilians, vandalism, and lax rules of engagement
By Amos Harel, Haaretz Correspondent – 19/03/2009

The soldiers are graduates of the Yitzhak Rabin pre-military preparatory course at Oranim Academic College in Tivon. Some of their statements made on Feb. 13 will appear Thursday and Friday in Haaretz. Dozens of graduates of… Continue reading

CIA Documents Released in Trentadue (OKC) Case

On March 18 we received the following email–CIA documents (posted
here
) have been released in the ongoing case regarding the murder of Kenneth
Trentadue. Email author Jesse Trentadue, Kenneth’s brother, who is an attorney
in Salt Lake City continues to relentlessly pursue justice in his brother’s
death, apparently at the hands of the FBI, in spite of significant governmental
obstacles. A brief article about Trentadue by Andrew W. Griffin was published
December 3, 2008: Brother
of slain inmate speaks out, says DOJ thwarted serious investigation
.

Background–Readers will recall that the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma
City was bombed April 19, 1995. Extensive information about the OKC bombing
is available at Oklahoma City Bombing Investigation Committee, and an excellent
review, “Key to the Truth in Oklahoma–4.19.95 and 9.11.01″ by Holland
Van den Nieuwenhof was published
here
on April 18, 2008.]

Attached are documents just released by CIA. They have been filed with Court
and are, therefore, public record. I believe that this is the first time the
government has claimed exemption (b)(1) for withholding information in the
Oklahoma City Bombing case. Exemption (b)(1) is the national security exemption.

Attorney General Sets New FOIA Policy; Its Impact Remains to be Seen

Electronic Frontier Foundation
David L. Sobel
March 19, 2009

Electronic Frontier Foundation

Attorney General Eric Holder today issued new guidelines (PDF) on federal agency implementation of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The guidelines were issued pursuant to a directive issued by President Obama on January 21, his first full day in office. Like the Obama directive itself, the Holder guidelines express strong support for government transparency and establish a presumption in favor of disclosure of information requested under FOIA.

Perhaps most notably, the new guidelines rescind the so-called Ashcroft memo, issued by the former Attorney General in October 2001. That directive — widely criticized within the open government community — encouraged agencies to resist disclosure of requested information and to release documents “only after full and deliberate consideration” of the potential harms that might result. The Ashcroft memo also assured agencies that the Justice Department would defend in court any decisions to withhold information “unless they lack a sound legal basis.”

The new Holder guidelines echo the more pro-disclosure policy of former Attorney General Janet Reno and, like the Reno directive, encourage agencies to make “discretionary” disclosures of information that is not clearly required to be withheld as a matter of law. The new guidelines provide:

First, an agency should not withhold information simply because it may do so legally. I strongly encourage agencies to make discretionary disclosures of information. An agency should not withhold records merely because it can demonstrate, as a technical matter, that the… Continue reading

A Day of Protests, Against Iraq War and A.I.G.

March 19, 2009
By Jennifer Mascia and Jason Grant
New
York Times

On the eve of the sixth anniversary of the United States’ invasion of Iraq,
hundreds of protesters in New York City made it clear on Thursday that while
they welcomed the change in American political leadership, they would not relent
in urging President Obama to accelerate the withdrawal of combat forces from
Iraq.

The protests were perhaps more muted than the massive demonstrations of years
past, but no less fervent.

In Union Square, where about 120 people huddled together under the awning of
a subway station, staying out of the rain, some protesters said that Mr. Obama,
the new president, who as an Illinois state senator had opposed the war, had
continued some of the Bush administration’s most controversial policies.

Debra Sweet, 57, one of the protest organizers, said the Obama administration
had continued the policy of secret renditions of terrorism suspects, and she
called for “righteous anger at this occupation.” Many in the crowd
were high-school students.

“We’re not putting everything on Obama, whether it be hope or condemnation,”
she said of the new president. She said of the high-school students around her:
“They understand they have no voice. They’re too young to vote but
they will be the ones to foot the bill for this war and they know it.”

Another protester, Sonsara Taylor, said she was also angered by American policies
on Gaza and Pakistan and called for the investigation, and possible prosecution,
of members of the Bush administration who argued for the Iraq war.…

Our Troops and Iraqis are Still Dying – Open Letter to Anti-War Movement from IVAW, MFSO, VFP

An Open Letter to the Peace/Anti-War Movement from Iraq Veterans Against the War, Military Families Speak Out, and Veterans For Peace

After six years of war and the historic election of a new President, we as
veterans, military and Gold Star families felt an urgent need to reach out to
the larger peace/anti-war movements to make our position on Iraq clear during
this time of political and economic uncertainty. Iraq Veterans Against the War,
Military Families Speak Out and Veterans For Peace continue to stand together
in our demand to Bring the Troops Home Now! We ask all those who have stood
with us in the past to stay faithful to the cause.

President Obama has announced a plan to gradually reduce troop levels in Iraq.
Many in the peace/anti-war movements are breathing a sigh of relief, and suggesting
that it is time for us to scale back our efforts to bring an end to the occupation
of Iraq. But for our troops on the ground, their families and the Iraqi people,
the nightmare continues. They need all of us to stay in the struggle. IVAW,
MFSO and VFP have been long united in our call for an immediate and complete
end to the occupation of Iraq and will not shift our stance under any circumstances.

President Obama’s plan will result in more casualties and suffering for U.S.
troops, their families and Iraqis. To the American public facing hard times
here at home, two and a half more years of… Continue reading
