BRUSSELS - SEPTEMBER 11, 2008
Last Sunday over 400 European truth activists ignored the rain and had a non-violent march in Brussels. They gathered at 2 P.M. in front of the Berlaymont building at Schuman, Brussels. At 3 P.M. they took a walk of 4 kilometers with a stop at the US Embassy. Before the rally left, the organizers delivered a letter to the assistant to Giulietto Chiesa, Euro-MP for Italy. Under police guidance they tried to deliver a letter containing their request to start an independent and international investigation to what happened in the U.S.A. just 7 years ago. They were told that the embassy was closed and didn't accept their letter unless is was delivered by mail. There were no incidents during the protests, and the organizers were once again very positive about the collaboration with the Brussels Police. ...

Seven years ago, criminal terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers, the Pentagon were carried out on September 11th by hijacked planes leading to the deaths of thousands of people. A month later, key figures in the print and broadcast media and members of Congress were sent envelopes containing very lethal and highly weaponized anthrax, which led to the deaths of journalists and postal employees. After the initial shock diminished, there were calls for explanations, investigations, accountability and a reasoned response that did not include war. The administration ignored or openly opposed them. Instead we went into a call for permanent wars that would last beyond our lifetime, changes in civil liberties both overt and covert, a takeover of state power by the executive branch, and the creation of a national security emergency state that would somehow protect us.

Back in 2002, on the very first anniversary of the 9-11 attacks, KPFA 94.1-FM radio in Berkeley launched Guns and Butter, a locally produced, regionally broadcast weekly show that is possibly progressive radio's most subversive. The program features muckraking intelligentsia from the fringe looking in and those from the geopolitical eye of the storm looking out. It's The X-Files for real--minus any little green men.

On Sunday 7th September, about 400 protestors marched in Brussels during the second edition of the United for Truth March.

Despite the bad weather and the fact that the March took place during the same day as another popular event, the Belt (Belgian cycling event for the family), the number of protesters had doubled since the first edition of 2007.

... I think this March was a success for several reasons.

First, it became clear that more and more people demand an independent investigation. More than 10 nationalities were present in Brussels. If the crowd indeed increases with 200 every year, we should soon be able to actually get the mainstream media to notice us (I was able to spot one journalist that works for the RTBF, the French-speaking Belgian television, and apparently the March will be discussed during a talkshow on Belgian television on Wednesday 10th September).

An Interview with David Ray Griffin

On September 11, I entertained a couple of house guests, senior journalists from Scandinavia. I remember watching in horror and disbelief the unfolding drama, as the United States was being subjected to multiple deadly attacks on-screen. I turned to the international affairs editor of a major Danish paper and told her "This could not have been done by al-Qaida." I am an Israeli and, as such, I have a fair "sixth sense" as to the capabilities of terrorists and their potential reach.

At 9:11pm (CST), the MSNBC coverage cut to a video being projected onto the main screen at the RNC.

Law firms representing victims of the 9/11 attacks in an ongoing legal dispute with wealthy Saudis suspected of financing al-Qaeda have recently turned their attention to two individuals with unique ties to the U.S. government.

Lawyers for victims of the attacks, as well as insurance companies of property owners in New York, have filed a motion of discovery in federal district court in Manhattan targeting the Saudi-owned National Commercial Bank (NCB) and two of its former executives, Khalid bin Mahfouz and Yassin al-Qadi.

(Sept. 5, 2008, New York, NY) A solid base has now been established to create a public referendum known as the NYC 9/11 Ballot Initiative. This campaign is to enable the voters of NY City to create a new, independent, impartial 9/11 Commission that would conduct an authentic, comprehensive investigation of the most momentous event of our time. This effort is unique because if passed by the voters of NY City, the Commission would have subpoena power and its findings would have full legal recognition.

A dedicated team of citizens are about to cross the threshold of 30,000 petition signatures. This is the minimum required to submit the Initiative to the NY City Clerk and NY City Council for their review. There is now official confirmation from the City Clerk's office that all existing signed petitions will be valid for the mayoral election in 2009. Upon reaching this milestone of 30,000, efforts will continue to obtain as many as 75,000 signatures or more in the coming months as well as create alliances with various organizations which will serve as a coalition advocating for passage of the Initiative. With substantial numbers and support showing there is a serious mandate from the voters, it is actually possible that NY City Council can be moved to introduce and pass the Initiative on their own. This is the current strategy which organizers and petitioners here in NYC have every intention of pursuing.

Though few Americans realize it, Cheney and Rumsfeld worked through the 1980s and 1990s on emergency nuclear-response plans which allegedly suspended the American Constitution and also Congress.¹ (Through these decades Rumsfeld was CEO of a major pharmaceutical firm, and in the later 1990s Cheney was CEO of Halliburton; but their private status did not deter them from continuing to exercise a supra-constitutional planning power conferred on them by Ronald Reagan.)

Even fewer Americans know that these rules, originally dealing with a nuclear attack on America, were extended by Reagan Executive Order 12656 to cover "any occurrence, including natural disaster, military attack, technological emergency, or other emergency, that seriously degrades or seriously threatens the national security of the United States."² And few Americans realize that at least some of these rules, known technically as Continuity of Government (COG) rules, were invoked before 10:00 AM on September 11, 2001.³
