FBI chief: Rules would help root out terroristsHere we go again. Expanding the power of the FBI will "help protect Americans from terror attacks." Since 9/11, this has been the refrain of every government agency justifying their ever expanding lust for more unchecked powers at the sacrifice of our constitutional rights. And yet, get this, although Americans believe another attack is not likely, they believe we are "fully prepared for such an attack should it occur." We continue down the path of national security moral hazard: since they failed to prevent against the 9/11 attacks with the ample tools they already had, we need to relinquish more of our rights to insure our protection. Another way to frame the issue of national security would be: How much are we willing to pay for this miserable protection racket?

New rules for national security investigations will help protect Americans from terror attacks, FBI Director Robert Mueller told lawmakers Tuesday, even if they single out people from the Middle East. By LARA JAKES JORDAN Associated Press Writer New rules for national security investigations will help protect Americans from terror attacks, FBI Director Robert Mueller told lawmakers Tuesday, even if they single out people from the Middle East. Skeptical Democrats clashed with Mueller, who told the House Judiciary Committee that FBI agents would no longer need solid evidence or allegations of wrongdoing to spy on Americans even before opening investigations. Democrats also expressed doubts that the Justice Department and FBI would protect civil liberties and privacy rights after years of previous abuses and stymied congressional oversight.

Scientists, Scholars, Architects & Engineers respond to NISTvia Electronic Mail: wtc@nist.gov Dear Mr. Cauffman, I am writing on behalf of a group of scientists, scholars, engineers and building professionals who are dedicated to scientific research regarding the destruction of all three high-rise buildings (WTC 1, 2 and 7) on September 11, 2001. We have examined the draft reports recently released by NIST purporting to explain the demise of WTC Building 7 (collectively referred to herein as the “Report”). We have found many areas that need to be revised and re-examined by NIST personnel before they release a final report on this matter. We have provided our names and affiliations at the end of this document, in accordance with the guidelines for submittal of comments promulgated by NIST at (http://wtc.nist.gov/media/comments2008.html). At the outset, we would like to call attention to the fact that we requested a reasonable extension of time for the public to submit comments. Given the rate at which we were finding incorrect or contradictory statements in the Report, we would likely have found many more areas NIST needs to re-examine before issuing a final report. As we pointed out in our original correspondence with you requesting the extension, the original three week deadline was completely unreasonable. First, it took NIST more than three years to compile this 1000+ page Report. Why, then, were members of the public only given three weeks in which to comment? Moreover, NIST lists ten authors and dozens of contracted and employed staff, which over the three year investigation would yield somewhere in the neighborhood of 200,000 man-hours of labor. How did NIST expect members of the public to match or even come close to NIST's labor expenditure in three weeks? This first reason alone was enough to warrant a significant extension in the deadline for public comment.

It's the creepy plotters who rule us we should really be scared ofPeter Hitchens There is no such organisation as ‘Al Qaeda’. The spooks know this, Cabinet Ministers know this and so do the ‘security correspondents’ who so readily trot out the spooks’ point of view on our broadcasting networks. Of course, there are terrorists, and there are also fantasists, fanatics, low-lifes and camp followers who plot and attempt horrible things. Some of them even call themselves ‘Al Qaeda’ these days because they have learned that this is a good way to scare us. But, while they are a menace, they are not as big or as organised a menace as the Government likes to make out.

Andover law school convenes Bush War Crimes Conference - WATCH LIVELIVE FEED TO WATCH TODAY'S PROCEEDINGS: http://current.com

by Stephen C. Webster PROGRAM WILL RETURN SUNDAY, 9 A.M. Eastern Saturday morning, the dean of Massachusetts School of Law at Andover will convene a two day planning session with a single focus: To arrest, put to trial and carry out sentence on criminals in the Bush Administration. The conference, arranged by Lawrence Vevel, cofounder of the Andover school, will focus on which of Bush's officials and members of Congress could be charged with war crimes. The plan also calls for "necessary organizational structures" to be established, with the purpose of pursuing the guilty "to the ends of the Earth." "For Bush, Richard Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and John Yoo to spend years in jail or go to the gallows for their crimes would be a powerful lesson to future American leaders," Velvel said in a media advisory.

Steven E. Jones lectures on 'alternative theories' surrounding the attacks By Ben Fulton The Salt Lake Tribune 09/11/2008 OREM - For most of the American public, the dust has settled over how the World Trade Center fell Sept. 11. But seven years later, former Brigham Young University physics professor Steven E. Jones remains perhaps the most famous proponent of so-called "alternative theories" surrounding the Sept. 11 attacks. Almost two years since BYU placed him on paid leave following controversy over his claims that the WTC towers did not fall due to the collision of passenger jets alone, he's still studying dust samples gathered near ground zero. The man can also pack a small lecture hall, as he did Wednesday afternoon during one of the weekly physics colloquiums sponsored by Utah Valley University's physics department.

The Definitive Treatment of 9/11
In THE NEW PEARL HARBOR REVISITED, David Ray Griffin provides a brilliant and much-needed companion to his path-breaking and movement-building book on 9/11, The New Pearl Harbor (NPH; 2004). Now, on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of those horrific events, Griffin surveys in detail all the main lines of evidence against the official account of 9/11 to have emerged during the last four years. THE NEW PEARL HARBOR REVISITED (NPHR) has been designed as volume 2 of a two-volume set with NPH as volume 1; together they provide a thorough and up-to-date case against the official conspiracy theory (they can be bought separately, of course).

The NIST WTC 7 Report: Bush Science reaches its peakKevin R. Ryan In a famous book by Antoine de Saint Exupery, a little prince from another planet asks the narrator to draw a sheep. After several unsatisfactory attempts, the narrator simply draws a box and tells the little prince that the sheep is in the box. The little prince then exclaims — "That is exactly the way I wanted it!"1 Just so, the Bush Administration asked its scientists at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for an explanation as to what happened at the World Trade Center (WTC) on 9/11. In response to this request, NIST drew up a series of fanciful stories over a period of years, each story differing from the previous one. Finally, after seven long years, NIST published its last story for WTC 7 by simply saying, in effect: "The explanation is in our computer."2 As expected, however, this explanation in a box leaves much to be desired for those of us who prefer to live in reality, instead of in a fictional world. On the other hand, we are learning something from NIST with this new report, and that is that when government scientists begin working for a political agenda above all else, there is no limit to the extent of deception that they will engage in. We also know that those who have produced the NIST WTC reports must now assume personal responsibility for the ongoing 9/11 Wars, and the millions of deaths that will result from those wars.

New Documentary Takes a Look at the 9/11 Truth MovementFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 10, 2008 New Documentary Takes a Look at the 9/11 Truth Movement On the anniversary of the attacks of September 11th, British filmmaker Dean Puckett releases "The Elephant in the Room," a new award-winning film documenting his journey into the 9/11 Truth Movement. Los Angeles September 10, 2008 -- On the anniversary of the attacks of September 11th, British filmmaker Dean Puckett releases "The Elephant in the Room," a new award-winning film documenting his journey into the 9/11 Truth Movement. The Movement can best be described as a group of citizen activists from around the world who don't believe the U.S. government's explanation of what happened on September 11th. While there are a growing number of law enforcement personnel, pilots, architects, engineers, and scientists joining the ranks, they have been called everything from 'patriots' to 'conspiracy theorists' - with some right wing talk show hosts going so far as to call them 'jihadists.'

Reflections on 9-11by Cindy Sheehan September 10, 2008 The 7th anniversary of September 11, 2001 is approaching and it seems like a good time to reflect on what our nation has lost since that tragic day and what we can do to go forward. I do not think that anyone alive on that day will forget the shock that struck our nation when the symbols of US capitalism and militarism were struck out of the clear blue sky. I was in panic mode for a few days, because I did not hear from Casey who was stationed at Ft. Hood on that day and his base went into lock-down and he was too busy to call. Even though we mourn with our fellow Americans, the loss of over 3000 innocent people and the pain their families have had to deal with, the attacks of 9-11 have touched every American.

No consensus on who was behind Sept 11-International Poll
Sep 10, 2008 WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Seven years after the Sept. 11 attacks, there is no consensus outside the United States that Islamist militants from al Qaeda were responsible, according to an international poll published Wednesday. The survey of 16,063 people in 17 nations found majorities in only nine countries believe al Qaeda was behind the attacks on New York and Washington that killed about 3,000 people in 2001. As originally reported at WorldPublicOpinion.org: A new WorldPublicOpinion.org poll of 17 nations finds that majorities in only nine of them believe that al Qaeda was behind the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States.
In no country does a majority agree on another possible perpetrator, but in most countries significant minorities cite the US government itself and, in a few countries, Israel. These responses were given spontaneously to an open-ended question that did not offer response options. ... "Given the extraordinary impact the 9/11 attacks have had on world affairs, it is remarkable that seven years later there is no international consensus about who was behind them," comments Steven Kull, director of WorldPublicOpinion.org.
