History Commons Projects, Update on June 4, 2008The History Commons has started two new timelines this week, both of which
cover overlaps between the site’s main projects. One of them deals with
the military analysts story. It has been garnering more attention since the
recent New York Times expose, but articles about it have dripped out over the
years and there is a wealth of material, which was previously split between
the Iran, Iraq Invasion, Iraq Occupation, and Detainee Abuse Timelines.

SPECIAL REPORT: SUING THE SAUDIS--Pinning the Blame for 9/11Special Report: A Phila. law firm wages an epic legal battle to win billions from Saudi Arabia By Chris Mondics, Philadelphia Inquirer Staff Writer First of two parts. Less than a mile from the mournful place in Lower Manhattan where the World Trade Center came crashing to the ground, in a hushed federal courthouse, a small band of Philadelphia lawyers is prying loose secrets of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. It is here that the Cozen O'Connor law firm has filed an 812-page lawsuit on behalf of U.S. and global insurance companies alleging that Saudi Arabia and Saudi-backed Islamist charities nurtured and financed al-Qaeda, the author of those deadly attacks.

Hungry for Truth - Day 7Day 8 of Blair Gadsby's hunger strike for 9/11 Truth was met with opposition and a written response from the office of U.S. Senator John McCain. Blair was approached by the property manager at McCain's office and a Phoenix police officer and was told to remove his signs, stating that he was on private property. Numerous signs and banners have been surrounding Blair during his hunger strike to add to the visual affect. Wanting to comply with the law we had no choice but to remove the signs and now he has only what he can physically hold. Later in the day Blair made yet another visit inside the office to hand deliver a request to meet with Senator McCain. At this moment Blair was handed a written response to his request that stated the Senator's schedule would not permit him to meet with Blair at this time. (McCain's response is below.) Notice the date on the letter--May 30th!! They let Blair sit outside, in 100 plus degree weather, on a hunger strike while that letter sat on someone's desk inside the office all weekend. Also: Blair was interviewed this week by Michael Wolsey on Visibility911. Details follow

Meet Blair Gadsby, Currently Engaged in Hunger Strike for TruthAZ Senator Karen Johnson: "Blair has a lot of courage and I'm hoping that what he does here will be very effective and that it will bring the attention to Senator McCain that is needed, so that he will take another look at this and really understand that there are a lot more questions than answers out there. and that The folks that lost their loved ones in this horrible tragedy deserve to have answers. That's what we need to do, is find these answers for them."

Note from David Ray Griffin, Statement of Support for the NYC 9/11 Ballot InitiativeDavid Ray Griffin
Although I was not able to be present at the rally either in person or by telephone,
I wanted to express my strong support for the NYC
9/11 Ballot Initiative. There has never been a better time to get such an initiative on the ballot, because the 9/11 Truth Movement's case against the official account of 9/11 is now extremely strong---much stronger than it was just two years ago. For example, new evidence has been brought forth to show that the official account of the destruction of the Twin Towers and WTC 7 cannot possibly be true. The NIST Report has been shown to be completely inadequate, and a former employee of NIST has spoken out to verify what we already suspected---that NIST has become totally politicized, so that its scientists are little more than "hired guns."

Lawyers want 9/11 trial dismissed (and related articles)By Andrew O. Selsky SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Defense lawyers accused the government of rushing the Sept. 11 defendants to trial at Guantanamo to influence the U.S. presidential elections, and asked the military judge to dismiss the case in a court filing obtained Thursday by The Associated Press. The filing also shows that the former chief prosecutor at Guantanamo, who resigned in October over alleged political interference, was sanctioned by the military on May 23 after testifying for the defense in a Guantanamo hearing. The former prosecutor, Air Force Col. Morris Davis, wrote that the action will discourage any other military members from providing information about the controversial war-crimes tribunals. The tribunals' legal adviser, Air Force Brig. Gen. Thomas Hartmann, told the AP Davis was sanctioned because of poor job performance and not because he testified.

Veteran Wages War Against Pentagon Over Mandatory Anthrax VaccineBy Thomas D. Williams US Air Force Reserve Maj. Thomas "Buzz" Rempfer, a 43-year-old Connecticut native, is hoping he is nearing the end of nearly a decade's perpetual and unprecedented battle with the Pentagon over the legality, safety and effectiveness of mandatory anthrax vaccinations. His and others' efforts have already netted favorable federal court rulings. They invalidated the original Department of Defense mandate and the vaccine's initial licensing. ... Significantly, the infamous 2001 anthrax powder attacks, killing five people and sickening 17 others after 9/11, were domestic and not foreign in nature. They were allegedly inspired by laboratory insiders who mailed the powder to the offices of two US senators, a number of national news offices in New York City, and elsewhere. The incidents are still under active FBI investigation. That probe, says Fox News, recently identified three or four new suspects at an Army bioweapons lab intricately involved in helping to support the need for the mandated vaccine. They include a deputy commander, an anthrax scientist and a microbiologist. Curiously, at that point in time, the vaccine's continued use was being threatened by closer scrutiny from the US Department of Defense and other Bush administration officials. That review withered away after the attacks. However, the DOD then used the domestic incidents to claim the foreign threat was "real."

The New England 9/11 Symposium: Recap (Updated 5/26)This story has now been updated with new information from Symposium organizers. The New England 9/11 Symposium, held this past Saturday (5/17/08) in Keene, NH, was a tremendous success. We had a great turn out and received local and, of course, independent media coverage. First, the morning began at 9:45 a.m. with Bob McIlvaine's heartfelt speech, which is a reminder that, as Jon Gold put it, what we feel is nothing compared to what family members like McIlvaine feel. The part of his remarks that stuck out to me the most was when McIlvaine detailed his experiences researching 9/11 on his own and described his utter disgust with the 9/11 Commission. While speaking about the Commission he mentioned the day that Condoleeza Rice testified about the August 6th, 2001 PDB. To him it was obvious that Rice was spinning, lying, and not directly answering any questions posed to her by the Commissioners, who's questions were light as it was. He talked of how outraged he was when, after Rice testified, family members were rushing to shake her hand. The deception was so blatant how could the others not see it? I, as well as many others, believe that Bob is very strong and very brave. Next up was acclaimed Canadian media critic and author, Barrie Zwicker.

Bush Power Grab Since 911Scholar Urges Candidates Debate Role of President's Usurpation of Power By Jeff Demers and Sherwood Ross Global Research, May 22, 2008 President Bush’s usurpation of power since 9/11 was termed “rapacious,” “predatory,” and “extra-Constitutional,” by presidential scholar Michael Genovese, director of the Institute for Leadership Studies at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Genovese said the “Unitary Theory” of the executive espoused by the Bush White House “is a very strange and ahistorical notion that says, ‘In a crisis all power gravitates to the president. No one, not the courts, not the Congress can interfere with the president and in effect, the president is the state.”
